I did a little experiment with painting rubber. Contrast and reflection are important for rubber, so I prepared two.

A is a black base with reflections on top, with light.

B is my usual painting method these days: base > shadows and shades > a little reflection > light.

Definitely A, the black is shinier.

I think I prefer B. I feel A is too shiny and too high contrast, and B has a better balance.

A has some parts that look worse, like the toes, but overall I like the shine on it more.

I like A’s color, but B looks more clear. Maybe can try make only few part of it darker?🤔

A'Kuma, the Devil

A feels more latex-y/rubber-y (preferred) while B has better contrast/details.

Timosan

B is more realistic but I prefer A better. It looks more shinny👍️

Basically you get a brighter look with B, but somewhere would be over-exposed (compared with other places) since your drawings are always bright as far as I know. With A you cant get anything wrong for the char herself, but you eventually get a weird overall lighting.
