Howdy Sci-fi fans! Have we got a space thrill ride for you today! You were all absolutely right about this one - not only did we love it, but you were dead on about all the things we needed to know ahead of time to make the watch more enjoyable - being familiar with Original Trek, Comic cons, and general sci-fi tropes. I was surprised at how much we caught actually, but I bet we still missed a ton, so let us know what fun things we didn't recognize!

Oh wow. One of my favorite movies, with two of my favorite reactors. You just made my week. Have to take care of a few quick things, and then I'm jumping right in!

This is such a wonderful film! I'm a huge Star Trek fan and have The Original Series and TNG with TNG being my favorite. Thought you might be as well given the awesome Enterprise-D model on your shelf :) Some fun trivia: Sam Rockwell based his portrayal on Bill Paxton's performance in Aliens (1986). In particular, his elevated fear of being killed, and his mental collapse upon seeing a motion detector that shows their enemy closing in on them. Gwen DeMarco laments that her TV Guide interview was "six paragraphs of my boobs and how they fit into my suit." This actually happened to Jeri Ryan, who played Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager. Just after the crew arrives via the 'pods,' the Thermians appear without their appearance generators. When the captain asks "Who wants a tour?", Sigourney Weaver didn't know that 'Guy' was going to scream in terror like he did. You can see a very real reaction from her at that moment. The film proved quite popular with Star Trek fans. At the 2013 Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas, it received enough support in a Star Trek Film Ranking, and was included with the twelve Star Trek films that had been released at the time on the voting ballot. The fans at the convention ranked it the seventh best Star Trek film.
