Hi Everyone! Last weeks poll winner was Seven! 

As you may know, we're going to finish Breaking Bad this month. It's been a wild ride, and I can't believe it's almost over. We're excited for Better Call Saul, but wanted to check in with y'all first. Should we jump right into it? Or take a break from the Breaking Bad universe first?

Bonus question for the comments: I've been told there's a Breaking Bad Netflix movie, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers. Where does it fit into the timeline? Would we watch it before or after Better Call Saul?

The Breaking Bad Netflix movie fits in right after the show, but was filmed half way through Better Call Saul so I think it fits wherever you like.

El Camino (the movie) is basically what happens in the immediate aftermath of Breaking Bad ending. Better Call Saul is a prequel to the events of Breaking Bad. Just my opinion, but unless you're burnt out it would be a great idea to go right into BCS because there is quite a bit of stuff that you'll appreciate a lot more if BB is still fresh in your mind.

I haven't watched BCS or the Netflix movie but I'm pretty sure the movie takes place after Breaking Bad series.

My vote would be to get right into Better Call Saul, but only if you guys don't need a break. If you do I'd say take the break you need. El Camino is essentially an epilogue to Breaking Bad, so I'd suggest watching that right after.

Watch El Camino the movie straight after breaking bad- it's a direct follow up. Then Better Call Saul, it's 100% as good as breaking bad imo- both are excellent shows!

Since BB isn't your only show as you've had Firefly (now Chernobyl) & GoT, it may be worth diving straight in. I can understand those who solely watch BB wanting a slight break from being in that universe. El Camino: a Breaking Bad Movie (2019) is definitely worth watching a week or 2 after you finish BB though. That's when it fits best. I say a week or 2 as you may want to allow the finale to sit with you a bit before jumping into the movie, which came out 6 years after the finale aired. I hope you don't take this as spoilers in any way, but Better Call Saul (BCS) is a differently paced & stylised show despite being part of the same universe; and it may be a bit of a shock to go straight from Breaking Bad finale level to something quite different. As long as you know not to expect another Breaking Bad, you'd be fine :) That's not to say it's not as good. BCS may even be my favourite of the 2 shows. If you did want a small gap, maybe watching something short before hopping back in would be a good idea? As a Brit, I'd recommend Fawlty Towers (1975-1979). It's one of the best British sitcoms (if not THE best) which has 12 insane episodes. There's plenty of short shows out there though :P These next few weeks are going to be crazyyyy!!!

Watch the movie, then BCS. As for a break, I'd like right away, but as someone else suggested if you wanted to do a miniseries show to give a breather might not be a bad idea too. Either way, I think most that want you to continue wouldn't want some 6 month to year break, maybe a month or so.

If you guys take a break and not watch it right away then I will just put a hold on my subscription until you do....no offense, but Breaking bad Is the only reason I joined with hopes of you watching BCS after. So no reason to keep paying while I wait months for it.

If you are enjoying the BB universe then straight to BCS! After you watch El Camino of course. It will be highly disappointing if BCS is skipped over.

I could got on board for something like Faulty Towers. Since they're short maybe 2 episodes a week, for three weeks (season 1), the Breaking Bad movie, then three weeks for season 2, then BCS.

I said get into Better Call Saul because it’s just as good as Breaking Bad. However, in the timeline, you should probably watch the Netflix movie El Camino in between BB and BCS. Not sure if those who voted for “something else” were saying watch El Camino next, or go into a totally different direction. Maybe another poll with the options more clearly spelled out? Because I think El Camino should be next and almost clicked “something else” but didn’t know how that would be received.

Excellent points… and Fawlty Towers is a short and hidden gem, I don’t know any other channels that have reacted to it but I bet there is a huge audience out there for it! It’s comedy gold!

Urgh those poll results. This happens *every time*, been through this on like 5 reaction channels at least, literally every time I've watched BrBa reactions, and the crushing inevitability hit me like a ton of bricks before i even voted and saw the way the vote was going. I could have probably even predicted 45% if pushed. Always fhe same. Reactors make this 'immediate or take a break' poll after BrBa without fail, every time, and it always goes the same way, every time. They always do eventually watch BCS anyway, and when they finally do watch it they've forgotten 90% of the things it ties into BrBa and even many characters that turn up, get a fraction of the potential enjoyment and have to be told most of it in the comments after the videos are posted instead of feeling that excitement in the episode itself. Turns most of the ties to BrBa into stale bulletpointed trivia fed in the comments instead of organic 'omg no way!' moments for us to see reactors experience from the episodes themselves, and its quite frequently frustrating and disappointing as a viewer. Not to mention likely irritating to the reactors getting the less polite portion of their viewers in the comments saying 'how did you not recognise X?!??' when its really not their fault since its like 2 years or more since they saw X and had other shows taking up all their mental bandwidth in the meantime. One of the best shows ever made and it always gets stiffed after BrBa. So depressing. 45% is still a huge portion of people, a healthy large demographic of the channel. but numbers wise those who don't watch BrBa in the first place, added to the extra minority of BrBa people who didn't like BCS because it was different mean its a foregone conclusion it'll lose a poll to continue every single time. Not only that but by the time reactors do watch it, a sizable portion of that 45% have probably left the patreon since chances are decent they were here for BrBa specifically and weren't interested in what replaced it, so BCS suffers again in numbers and reactors probably more likely to regret doing it because it doesn't do the numbers BrBa did which just further goes to make it seem unpopular. It's the only show I'm here for and found your channel searching for BrBa reactions, so I hope i spot youse are doing BCS to rejoin when the time comes. As much as i will feel those very familiar moments of sadness to see you sat blank faced and oblivious at a BrBa character rolling up in an episode without the vaguest hint of recognition. I'll still be here for it as i have others, assuming i spot that its started. Not saying its not very enjoyable after watching other stuff as it stands on its own two feet, but its like 2-3 special moments per episode that are taken away from foggy memory after watching other shows, particularly anything linked to earlier seasons of BrBa I've literally never seen a reactor recognize despite being 'jump out of chair holy s**t' moments for me, esp as a reactor has their attention for shows so split and drawn out on a schedule it adds additional mental distance between shows a normal viewer would not have, and catch up rewatches prior are not usually an option for reactors keeping to a schedule. Even a few months hurts a lot. Even with no break, a major season 1 BrBa tie in appearing in season 6 of BCS, say, is already pushing it to the extreme for a reactors memory due to how much sheer time passes between watching them at an episode a week and having only seen BrBa one time , but put just one other show in between and all but the most 'smack in the face' obvious headline tie ins you'd prob be spoilt on netflix thumbnails or whatever anyway are completely doomed, they may as well not be there. So much is lost and it goes from several an episode to being a few big ones throughout the entire show. Sorry for the moan I try to avoid being negative in comments, but its so massively disheartening every time it happens, watched a ton of BrBa/BCS reactions and never once experienced reactors going into BCS with BrBa fresh in mind despite seeing repeated suggestions and pleas in the comments not to delay too much as BrBa approaches its end, that damned poll always comes and it always ends the same way. I dream of one day a reactor not doing a poll and just continue with BCS because they want to, and being able to get the most out of it. But as soon as a poll goes up its just doomed every time. The polls are always close enough and the support for it healthy enough that it would have been fine to just continue if the reactor wanted to but as soon as the poll is made and results go against it it means its 'the will of the people' so that 45% are screwed every time, from channel to channel to channel to channel, even though it certainly represents the vast majority of BrBa fans of the patreon. Democracy, hurrah! It always produces the best and most equitable results don't it lol! EDIT: 40% now, sigh!

Blind Wave have seen it and their reactions are great. Aria C is another smaller channel who has just started it and she's also fab. Others have watched it but I haven't really watched their through

A lot of reactors are doing BCS right now. It might be good to go a different direction. Have you guys seen Battlestar Galactica? Just a suggestion.

I'm not sure if this is the sort of poll where whatever the majority is will prevail, but them trying to get a sense of what those who are members of the channel and/or have seen both shows think is the best way to approach it. I'd prefer immediate BCS and retain hope that they may pick it even with under 50% voting for that :P

Well if that's the case hopefully my impassioned if frustrated plea will help too lol, am sorry for it, i always try not to be negative and moany in comments, just try to be positive or quietly leave if am not happy, and find it annoying generally when i see others moaning all the time, but this one thing really bums me out every time haha

i have a couple of suggestions for you 1, blue eye samurai on netflix only 8 episodes 2, Gyeongseong Creature A KOREAN HORROR Netflix ( i highly recommend ) 2 seasons 17 episodes season 1 has 10 episodes season 2 has 7 episodes in all English dubbed

Sorry for these past experiences. I’ll just say I’ve been watching Jordan and Chandra react to Game of Thrones once a week, and while they don’t always remember everything, just as I didn’t remember everything first time I watched it, they also recently had a baby. I know nothing about you but my sister has had 2 kids in the last 5 years and her and my brother in law are perpetually exhausted, if they had a reaction channel I’m sure they would forget some things too. But what I’d really like to point out in the GOT reactions, there are so many times when either Jordan or Chandra misses something, and the other one points it out, like “remember back when Robb Stark did this…” … 4 seasons later. I guess I’m saying, give them a chance, I know they are up to it. And if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

Reading through all of these comments it seems pretty obvious to me that the majority wish to stay within the Vince Gillian/ Breaking Bad universe, it’s just really should you watch El Camino before Better Call Saul or vice versa. Maybe that should be a poll. Yeah I am completely biased in that I’d love you to stay in this franchise, but numbers don’t lie, most posts are about which order to watch things, and only a small minority of commenters are asking for something completely different.

Oh I have other shows in mind, but I am not the only person here so if the 'take a break' vote wins we will have to have a poll. In general however yeah, it's a bit frustrating sometimes (no criticism intended here!). I have noticed, and I am not sure why that is, that reactors often all do the same series and movies at the same time. Or is that just my imagination? Now I get that some shows are 'in hype' sometimes but I feel it is more than that. As if they are all reading from the same menu. I currently have about 7 reaction channels on my patreon list. 5 of them in the whole Breaking Bad - BCS arc. I am happy for the fans of the show, but I also can't deny I would love it if there was a bit more variety. That being said we always have GoT here and the Harry Potter universe so that helps a lot :)

I vote for either option. Having said that, be sure to put on your list to watch sometime the series called "Ozark" Has 4 Seasons with fantastic performances, intense drama at times and very captivating. It is in the vein of drug lords, money-laundering with an American family caught in the middle. The setup of Ozark is similar to that of Breaking Bad, but the show premise is entirely original. I guarantee the first episode will get you hooked.

I have to say I don't quite agree with your argument that a pause is guaranteed to cause issues. I get the logic but the problem is this .... : The fifth and final season of the American television drama series Breaking Bad premiered on July 15, 2012, and concluded on September 29, 2013 The first season of the American television drama series Better Call Saul premiered on February 8, 2015 So if you watched the show as it aired, you had to wait for over a year too. I am admittedly not an expert on the shows but even so I would expect any tie-ins to be introduced in a way that accounted for that gap of over a year. Not to mention we are talking about 2 reactors here who continue to surprise me with how well they keep up with the plot. I have seen far far worse :)

Yeah we all watch reaction channels and pay money to see others watch it. We're not normie viewers who'd have not seen BrBa again in that entire time, likely rewatched the show repeatedly with different people over the years, do A rewatch before BCS aired,. I'd seen Breaking Bad about 5x by the time BCS aired with different friends, then my wife, am watching it right now again with another friend. and was watching reactions to both shows in between seasons. Furthermore there wasn't a camera on us recording us have reactions to be viewed by an audience more familiar with the show than us so its very much a different situation. Comparing casual mass audiences who just stick a show on on tv sequel to a decade old show they not seen in that long is nether applicable to reactors nor the people who watch them for their reactions to the shows. We're weird lol Reactors have a way tougher job because of their schedule and the mental bandwidth of following several shows and having to record themselves, editing videos, its a lot of pressure and work and doesn't leave a huge amount of offline rewatching opportunities, so yeah in a few months a ton more is lost from memory than for some avid BrBa fan who's not doing reactions would have. Not their fault obviously but its just the reality of it.

Most people who watched BCS have seen Breaking Bad multiple times, so they remember all the great references the show includes. You don't have time to rewatch the whole show so please don't watch anything else (besides El Camino) in between and improve the chance you can remember the scenes from Breaking Bad that are making Better Call Saul such a better show. Every single time when people from great reaction channels ignore a reference because they can't remember, it kinda hurts. Still great reactions but also a missed opportunity.

Exactly! When I saw this poll my heart sank. I thought they were enjoying the show enough to dive into BCS. But when an option is available it never fails that BCS gets kicked down the road for at least a year. I usually cancel my membership and never come back. That won't happen hear because the Maplenuts have become my favorite reactors. But seriously 45% is a huge chunk of support for a show. The other 60% are going to want five different shows and most will be disappointed regardless on what is watched. BCS is the way.
