Hello! We hope you all had a wonderful weekend ❤️
Today's Tuesday movie is a real good one! We both loved this so so much - the actors were incredible, the story was riveting, and the writing was flawless... what more could you want! We both also fell madly in love with Alec Baldwin, so if you know of any more movies with him in them, let us know!

_Technical background etc. thread._ In the context of submarines, baffles refer to the acoustic blind spot behind the vessel where its own noise—especially from the propeller and machinery—masks external sounds. This area is difficult for the submarine’s sonar to "see" because the ship’s noise interferes with the detection of incoming sounds or threats. Here are some key points: - Acoustic Blind Spot: The baffle is essentially a region behind the submarine where its own noise creates an acoustic “shadow,” limiting sonar effectiveness. - Impact on Sonar: Active sonar systems can struggle to pick up external signals from this zone because the noise from the submarine’s own operations overwhelms quieter echoes. - Stealth Consideration: While the baffle can be a vulnerability in terms of situational awareness, savvy submarine operators also use it tactically, understanding that enemy sensors might also have blind spots.

Enjoyed seeing your reactions!! Have always loved this movie due to lots of tension revolving around secrecy. Connery and Baldwin really shined in their roles. As for other movies, you've already seen young Baldwin in Beetlejuice. Ones with him that I have liked are: The Juror (1996)  Thriller/Crime/Drama Prelude to a Kiss (1992) Malice (1993) Thriller Ghosts of Mississippi (1996) Drama The Edge (1997)  Action/Adventure The Departed (2006) Thriller/Crime has lots of actors in it you will recognize.

I watched this movie so many times in my life. One of my top 10 favorite movies as a teenager. But I will still watch it once more with you guys! ^^

Wait, wait, wait... I don't care what anybody says, nobody unironically "loves" "Zardoz".

One of my favourite movies, if you want another great submarine movie you should check out K19 the Widowmaker with Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson! You might also get a Chernobyl type vibe from this film as well.

This was so great. This is my 2nd time seeing this movie and It is one of only a few movies that have me stressed the entire time. I think its like Chandra said, you can't see anything, everything is by speed and coordinates and time, so you would constantly be braced to hit something. So I Wiki'd Jack Ryan. This character was in 36 books, five films ( played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine) 4 video games and 4 seasons of television. (John Krasinski) Damn! That's more than Bond maybe?

Ben

"Miami Blues" for an odd Alec Baldwin movie. Watch "The Abyss" and "Leviathan" for more underwater fun!

This is one of my favorites, so fun to rewatch it with you guys. I have to know, did you notice that the actor who plays Tupalev is the same actor that plays Borys Shcherbina in Chernobyl?

Awwww... just finished watching this with y'all. I was SO hoping that you guys would remember the "Crazy Ivan" from the pilot episode of "Firefly". Oh, well, no reactor ever does. But, at least now you've seen the movie that brought the term "Crazy Ivan" into the mainstream. The term originates from Cold War submarine tactics similar to how it was represented in this movie.

I came to watch your reactions for Firefly on YouTube. Love them so far ❤. I just got done watching this reaction and wanted to point out a small connection between this movie and the pilot of Firefly. When Serenity is escaping from the Reavers, they pull a "Crazy Ivan" which is mentioned in this movie. I understand that there are probably other places where it has been mentioned, but for me its how I knew what they were talking about.

Another great reaction guys. Another great submarine movie that I'm positive you will like is Crimson Tide (1995) with Denzel Washington, and Gene Hackman. GREAT movie.

Simone's Coconut Squire

If you're interested in cold war stuff, you should check out Death of Stalin. It's absolutely hilarious, and basically a true story, and again, a brilliant commentary on how the Soviet system worked.

The Dingo

I joined to watch the MCU but when I saw this I knew I had to see your reaction. Tom Clancy, the author of the book this movie is based on, is my favorite author. I highly recommend you read the book if you enjoy reading - I promise you won't regret it. Just be forewarned: the book is the first in a series of books about Jack Ryan and they are addictive! One last comment - you mentioned you like Sean Connery, I strongly recommend you check out a movie called Finding Forrester from 2000.

Oooo we love book recommendations! Jordan reads really fast, so a long book series is exactly his style. Also more Sean Connery, yes please! Hahaha
