Hellooooo!
We decided to watch a new movie that everyone has been raving about (and a few of you recommended!) All I have to say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Hahaha omg, we both loved this movie soooooo much. It's so crazy fun, silly, beautiful, AND the music is amazing. I've been listening to the soundtrack on repeat since we watched it. SO, here's hoping you all love it too!

I cannot explain the many levels on which this film speaks to me. It touches upon so many subjects, and from so many perspectives, be it psychological, sociological, and/or spiritual. The movie never changes in tone, but the increasing depths within said tone keep getting revealed as it unfolds. As catchy as the songs are--and the more you delve into the lyrics, the clearer the intent becomes--it accomplishes all of this without feeling like you're being preached at. Instead, this movie makes you feel as though you're being welcomed into something. This movie wasn't made with my demographic in mind, but what warms my heart so much is that the younger generation has creative voices like this that are brave enough to be this unabashed in their hope for humanity. It's not naive to have hope. That's what makes it "Hope". I also love that the lyrics in the final song change from, "I", to, "We". "But now we're seeing all the beauty in the broken glass"????? Are you kidding me!? I love Dylan Thomas, E.E. Cummings, Emily Dickinson, etc, as much as anyone; but this is beautiful writing! Jordan: "And they didn't even kiss?". I see you, homie. May true romance never die!

Something really fun: the singing voice actress for Mira showed up at the VMA’s dressed in a sleeping bag the same way Mira showed up at the Met Gala. It was a cool nod to the character.
