I can see the real world logic of why carrying multiple long weapons would be improbable, and it gets easily solved by a free level one homebrew magic item that I was going to give to my players, a magic belt that stashes your weapons on your back like they do in every movie ever.

As a mechanical engineer, I can confirm that throwing a trident wouldn't be any more difficult than throwing a javelin because of aerodynamics. The difficulty of throwing either a javelin or a trident comes from the balance point of either. The aerodynamics of the two would be similar as they are both symmetrical and the drag forces are balanced across each axis.

RE: the "make me laugh case" i think any time a DM is requiring people to step outside the normal mechanics they should in fact give clear instruction and people time to prepare before the next session. Such as: comedy routines, pvp battle royale, an ocean 11's esque heist, a bachelor themed episode, etc. Anything that isnt dice rolling or within the limits of normal role play demands to give people time to prep it. I will say Emily nailed it; the person probably didnt have much prepped and this was them buying time but then it just kept going too long and they had to sit with their consequences.

For milk mist cotton candy: evaporated and condensed milk have most of the water removed and form a sticky syrup, similar to melted sugar in a cotton candy machine. So it might be possible depending how the fat and protein in milk handle the heating and cooling that forms the fine strands of cotton candy... It would definitely be possible just using lactose, aka "milk sugar" instead of sucrose, aka regular sugar. I can try making a test batch for science if we really must know.

Yeah in hindsight my DM probably didn't have anything planned. But at the same time, there are a lot of weird quirks my DM had with their sessions/campaign that makes me question if that was the actual reason. 😅

If it’s other quirks that are similar it may be a situation where she thinks an idea is interesting and the development/introspection ends there and possible that she was like “well they didn’t make me laugh yet so I wait bc it’s the directive I gave and they must achieve” which then the advice Murph gave about adjusting to how it’s going (the advice about the hand to hand combat case would be good for her to hear)

re: the three tridents so many things in dnd don't make sense. you're carrying so much stuff all the time. if you want to be "strict" about this shit, the basic explorers bag can contain a max. of 30 pounds, yet the *default pack* contains 54, so if you're going hard-realistic on object carrying, your players wouldn't even get the most basic item. you simply have to suspend your disbelief or dnd does not work as a format

You could also just do health pips like 4-6 hits and optional rounds, then do ko's on crits if you really wanted to make faster boxing mechanics.

Easy answer for the demon part. Roll initiative ok demon has first. Roll to hit he does then this cinematic plays out. The looks into you and through you. You feel their gaze caress your soul. As you stand spell bound the demon reaches out one long clawed finger and runs it's nail down your chest. You feel it rend flesh and muscle and all is black. You awaken to your party finding you in the burned out remains of the cultists chamber. You are alive but a long black scar marks your chest and your party can feel an evil aura emanating from it. Your character is cursed. Your chest will start to hurt when the demon is near as your very soul is scared. Option 2 demon misses you say your line and run away.

Sorta. Cheese curds are formed because the proteins in milk clump together. If you let milk curdle that's a sort of cheese, but it happens because of pH changes, not water evaporating.
