I am loving this!!! I have to say my number one problem I had trying to get in to campaigns 2 and 3 was that they kind of start at a sprint. A couple episodes in and I struggled to keep the names, locations, and lore straight (Murph is my all time #1 DM so don’t take this the wrong way). This feels very much like a return to C1’s simple beginning that lets me really focus on getting familiar with the characters and world. Stealing horses and fighting bandits is a much more palatable introduction than launching into an age old conflict. You could say maybe Jake is keeping it simple to have less on his plate at first, but I think it’s more so great story telling. . He’s clearly a great writer and has a lot planned, and I can’t wait to see where this goes.

All 4 of them are fantastic DMs, and they all have their own style that seems to work really well for them. I’m still curious how Jake’s style is going to grow and what it’ll become once he’s even more experienced. He’s already very good despite never seriously being a DM/running a campaign before. I’d also like to see someone DM for all of them. Preferably Brennan, but I’d kill to have Lou run a very short campaign for them. Zac would be good option as well. I’d also love to see Jasper back on the show and in the DM chair for a return to the setting in Bahumia that he created for the band of boobs a while back - I absolutely loved the world he created, and the plot/story line was fantastic.

Conversely, Trinyvale started at a snails pace but morphed into one of my favorite things to listen to ever. I will legitimately never get tired of listening to it, especially the back half of the campaign. Not to mention that Trinyvale’s Metal City Mayhem 2-shot is by far the funniest content they’ve ever released. Jens threatening to kick the sh*t out of Sonic will never not make me crack up. Also, your name ia fascinating and I must know more.

Honestly, every character Murph plays he plays perfectly lol. The range he has in the characters he plays is pretty underrated imo (although I know everyone adores Barry Syx, and for good reason lol) I do gotta say, that Murph’s portrayal of Jens Lyndelle will forever be his magnum opus of character growth and overall role playing, IMO. Actually, I doubt Emily or Jake will be able to top what they did with Onyx and Nyack, either - all 3 of them are perfect by the end of the campaign. (I was mostly joking, but I also actually kinda believe everything I said tbh)

Caldwell has finally created a character that seems to fit his style perfectly. Also, just the name Welly Hamdam in Welly’s voice cracks me up.

I’d be shocked if these 3 even came remotely close to the degenerate grifters the Trinyvale Triplets became. With that said, those 3 grifters are my absolute favorite. Jens might be my favorite character of all time. Caldwell is the best DM for those characters, and is definitely somewhat at fault for their gradual descent into becoming world class grifters . In my opinion, the Metal City Mayhem 2-shot is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard on a podcast, and is by far my favorite thing that they’ve ever released (including 8BBC). The first 10-15 minutes of it is so incredibly unhinged, and I absolutely love it. The sequence of Sonic showing up -> Jens immediately telling Sonic to shut the f*ck up -> then immediately calling him a little f*cking piece of sh*t while threatening to kill him -> Nyack slapping Sonic with a glove -> Onyx very poorly pretending to be Porker -> Onyx (as Porker) asking for Sonic to pay them for saving her -> Jens demanding Sonic give them his Game Gear. On a side note, It’s also kinda hilarious how stupidly powerful Onyx is, while also being the biggest grifter in all of Trinyvale. She’s basically as strong as a demi-god in the finale lol. Anyway, my bad for going on a tangent there, I just absolutely adore Trinyvale and could yap about their exploits all day.

No joke, when I first listened to it, I immediately went back and did a screen recording of that entire part, and then sent it to a friend who hadn’t listened to the episode yet. I still have the recording, so every now and then I’ll go and play it back, and it still makes me crack up just as hard as the first time I heard it. Caldwell playing Sonic really adds to it I think lol. Also, I definitely gotta give a rose to the Triplets for how they gradually broke Sonic’s will to live throughout the 2 episodes.

I’d also add that Jake getting to play with some of the best and most creative DnD players/DM’s (as well as just incredibly creative and talented in general) for years, is probably something that really helped him. He’s been able to play characters next to the GOAT Emily, and has Murph, the most underrated DM in the DnD actual play community, as his DM. I also love how he’s already figured out that often your players will help develop your world with you, either with information about or from their backstory, or just by asking questions about the world or the current location/setting. This is something that Emily does especially well in every campaign she’s played in. In every campaign there are things she’s said/described, that Murph takes and uses for the rest of the campaign. For example, nannerflies - Emily came up with that in the moment, so Murph ran with it and the rest is history. Caldwell did a similar thing in Trinyvale with them randomly wanting Butterfinger BBs (but he ended up somehow making them a key part of the overarching story of the BBEG of the campaign - truly impressive IMO). Tl;Dr - Jake learned from the best, and has become great himself.

I am no veteran podcaster, so please feel free to ignore me. It is a little noticeable when you switch into reading from a pre-written passage, and I think slowing down and adding pauses would really help making those sound more natural. Just a thought.
