Love hearing Murph sweat when Em says I’ll quit if moonshine is revealed to be a high elf

Wally Attard

Everything about this podcast is amazing! The characters are interesting and funny, the story is great, NPCs are a lot of fun, music is a spot on, and Brian makes such a great DM! Easily my favourite D&D podcast out there. - Thanks, Guys! :)

Samuel Jasper

Agreed, I've listened to every episode in the last week. Love you guys!!!

A. Godfrey

Caldwell was totally wishing that Boneregard could come join the Merry Band of Boobs as Moonshine's boney servant.

Lucas Wells

Holy moly! That bum scene was gosh dang hilarious! That’s gonna be 50 gold!! I’m going to scream right now if you don’t give me the 10 gold! I thought some shit was about to break out right there lol.

Shawn Magill

Did you just say strider from game of thrones? Love the podcast but come on man, you know nerds listen to this

Violet Flohr

"It's really a coin flip whether we fall in love with the NPC or want to murder them instantly" that's it, that's tabletop

Laura Eklund Nhaga

Coud Y'all make a cross-over episode of Drawga and NADD? I mean it would require skype, and have a LOT of players, but I feel like ti would be so worth it!

Jacq Attack

Holy moly this episode was great. Also, that music in the Cragwater scene? Fucking chef kiss, let’s get that bad boy released on Short Rest!

Joseph P

Murphy is one of the best DMs. It’s awesome how quick he can change characters and keep the story going

MidnightSunna

Fun fact! LoTR elves actually have a very high alcohol tolerance and can drink dwarves under the table very quickly. But i love these podcasts, it makes me smile after dealing with work all day.

Scott.

Jake accidentally said Strider was from Game of Thrones.

Scott.

Um, I don't see enough people talking about #OldCobbForSeptim

William Nownes

Old Cobb is the big bad come on Scott

Jeffrey Steck, Lord of the Fjord

"I was working at a sweatshop in Flushing Queens" Emily, u did not get to finish your explanation of this lyric.

Mattias Isaksson

There actually is a deleted scene from LOTR when legolas outdrinks gimli. Gimli passes out and legolas is barely drunk

luke broudy

according to google his name is "Elessar" meaning elf stone

Chris

I know this is an absolutely ancient short rest and the answer Caldwell was looking for was probably Elessar as stated above, but this is my special interest so you’re about to get way more info than anyone would reasonably want on Aragorn’s names. I am so sorry. - Aragorn II son of Arathorn II, name given to him by his mother, the “Ar-“ prefix is something the northern line of Isildur have been including in the names of their heirs for a while, because it means king, and their status as kings without a kingdom means they really need to remind people. Kind of a self conscious move, think Tywin Lannister and his “any man who must say I am the king is no true king” line. -Estel, the name given to him as a child when he was fostered in Rivendell. He was not told growing up he was the heir to the thrones of Gondor and Arnor, so as to give him a pretty normal childhood, but he was taught history, so he would have known Aragorn as a name of one of the Dunadan ranger kings, both because of that Ar- prefix, and because he’s the second Aragorn in the line. So Estel was the name given to him as a cover. If anything is his “elf” name, it’s Estel. It means hope. That line Elrond says in elvish in the movies when he gives Aragorn his sword? “I give hope to men, I keep none for myself”?The word for hope in that sentence is “Estel” and the line was Aragorn’s mother’s last words to him. -Strider, this is literally a derogatory nickname given to Aragorn by the people of Bree. Aragorn once he learns his heritage and starts living as a Ranger is actively hunted by Sauron for obvious reasons, so he rarely gives his name at random inns like the Prancing Pony, lest they find him and murder him. So they nickname him Strider cause he walks everywhere and has long legs. He cares deeply for this odd moniker, entirely because it’s the name he is called by the hobbits, and he later translates it into Quenya (fancy elvish) and takes it as his family’s dynastic name, basically sneaking his dumb nickname a bunch of suspicious people at a random inn gave him into the noble legacy passes to all his descendants. That version of the name is Telcontar. Elessar, this is what he chooses as his name at his coronation, it means Elf-stone in Quenya (again, fancy elvish). The elf-stone he’s referencing is the gift given to him by Arwen, which he wears as a necklace in the movies. In the books it is a little less directly connected to her, and more an heirloom of her house which is multiple times royal (my god is Arwen’s family history complicated), so think general symbol of an inherited right to rule. Dunadan/dunadain isn’t really on of Aragorn’s names, so much as it is his race. Some elves call him “Dunadan” or “the dunadan” in the same way some characters call Legolas “elf” or “the elf.” What a dunadain is is complicated (lol) but basically a really long lived human. Thank you for stopping by my textwall.

i feel like a crickwater cocktail would have a full raw egg inside of it

If you're having trouble, use a third-party app to listen to podcasts using the RSS link! I use Podcast Addict and it let's me do the sort by date/new so I can listen to the old ones easy peasy. This is my 4th pass through and it's real fun to relisten to the old episodes

Casey Baker

It is a reference to the show "The Nanny" from the 90's, it was part of the intro theme song for the show, of course Emily adapted it ever so slightly to make a pun!

Isabelle Summers

Revisiting, Jake making fun of Galaad and calling him a 'pop punk singer' is sooo similar to his character Tread Nevers 😁

Andrew Duff

Could you add a short rest tag to this link so future fans can get to it easily?

Drew Faber

“If we ever do a live show” 🥹

James (plz make more trinyvale eps)

I’m amazed at how selfish they are on a re-listen. Hardwon might not be tbh, but man… the other 2 are a little more selfish than I remember.

Connor Proudfoot

Hey guys, could you please add the short rest tag to this episode? It didn't come up when i was searching. :)

Anthony Mongan

On my second time listening through podcast and shortrests I realized Emily mentions something in this episode that ends up coming true in episode 57

Johan Gidlöf

43:22 Apropå nothing. Caldwell, are you related to any swedish people or is that a common english word used? Simple translated from swedish, obviously, it’s = Speaking of

Anthony Mongan

Geez it’s been so long so I think I’m right here but i may be wrong but it’s about Moonshines dad

Patrick Strickland

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can't get this Short Rest to play on the app or download. Any suggestions on notifying the gang besides this post?

Sydney_Brooke

I'm having the same issue with the app but its working fine through actual web browser both on my phone and computer- I think its just an issue with Patreon

1man2hands

Gods they were getting so many things right accidentally and in jokes, I wonder if Murph was sweatingggg

Myles Lee

I don't know if Caldwell ever found it but Aragorn's other name is Elessar

Anonymous

the chosen always reminded me of the whitecloaks in WoT if that's what people were tweeting at Murph

Anonymous

I hate to be 'that' Tolkien fan... but Aragorn becomes King Elessar (Elessar for the stone he is given) when he is crowned in Gondor. I believe the elf name they are talking about is Estel, meaning hope, which was given to him by Elrond and the elves as he was supposed to represent the hope of humanity.

Adam Hylton

Was just checking to see if someone else mentioned it. The deleted scene where legolas drinks 😆

Andrew Hegseth

“You’ll never team up with bully-wogs”-Murph fast forward to campaign 3 Caldwell is planning to play a bully-wog and murph is super excited about it

Hanna Masaryk

In addition to an elvish alias he grew up with, Aragorn also makes the elven word for "Strider" his house name when he assumes the throne in Gondor. Pippin or Merry calls him that and the Gondorian healers say some snooty, slightly racist shit about halflings, so Aragorn reads the healers for filth.

Rajdeep Dhindsa

Having just caught up to campaign 3, listening to the impetus of the Short Rest was real interesting

Mac

it was hard to find the original short rests, i hate there's no sort by date option on the app, i have to search up the individual episodes lol
