hello everyone, I'm working on improving stability, uncached full files will take a while to load and imports are a bit backlogged both due to bandwidth. Thank you.

I'll be chatting about encounter building, running a campaign, making the show, and whatever else you wanna ask about! See you Monday!

Where do they stream?

Murph, what were the first dice you ever used for an adventure and what was the first set you’ve received and did the experience turn out how you expected for both experiences?

Ok so newbie player that had my first taste at the table (about 7/8 sessions) this year and whilst I did enjoy being a player, I've already started thinking I'd rather DM. I'm deep DEEP in research mode right now and one thing that has me freaking out is challenge ratings for fights and encounters!?! My question oh wise and chortle-less Murph is... Is this something is should get hung up on? How does one achieve a balance of "I wanna scare them but not TPK them"?!? UK here so will NOT be or the stream so thought I'd ask ahead of time!! 👍😊👍 love you guys!!

These streams are always when I have to work 😩

Hi! So I’m new to NADDPOD listening start to finish (currently ep 59 of first campaign). I plan on getting through the whole catalog. Would this contain spoilers?

I'm a relatively new DM and weekly no matter how I set up encounters, my players turn everything into 'stand still and take turns hitting it'. They just seem to accept lair actions (like collapsing stalactites) and monsters' abilities (like saving throws for starting their turn near the monster) without ever trying to avoid them. Do you have any tips or advice for creating encounters which require or encourage the players to think, move or strategise more creatively during combat?

Oh this is VERY exciting. I'm setting a reminder to check out the stream.

Murph we've been seeing a lot of Dimension 20 crossover with Critical Role including Matthew Mercer DMing The Ravening War and Emily guest starring just these last few weeks on Critical role! Will we be seeing you play with some of the cast of CR? You and Siobhan are the only 2 Intrepid Heroes left not to have played with someone from CR! And I feel it's only a fair trade for Emily that they have you DM for Ashley or Laura or Sam on NADDPOD!(Prism freaking rules by the way so sorry about Bor'Dor Emily)

Are you guys accepting questions here? I would like to know how you feel about the potential of AI DMing? As someone with limited time and forever DM, I have been having fun playing a solo adventure from ObviousMimic, the idea of an AI DM or party sounds exciting to scratch the player character itch. What are your thoughts?

Molly

I've been wanting to get into DMing (either dnd or another system) but one of the the main things stopping me is I worry about is my indecisiveness becoming an issue - any tips on quick thinking/decision making and not getting bogged down by wanting to make perfect and/or the most clever choice always?

Trey

The last 2 episodes have been SO incredibly helpful as a DM! I've wanted to hear about y'all's DM's tips for so long and it has been such a huge gift! Thank you guys!

I run a play-by-post game, but I’m confident your experience at the table will translate. What is your process for balancing encounters, especially boss fights? Your fights always seem very challenging, but fair.

Hey Murph, thanks for doing these! You, Brennan, Johnny Chiodini and (for RP scenes especially) Aabria have been great role models for how to be a good GM. Your encounter building especially has been inspiring. You primarily play D&D 5e (and I believe you mentioned a 3.5e homegame?), but I know you've been exploring other systems as well. Are there rules, subsystems, tools, or other elements from other games that you have implemented or want to implement in your 5e games? (Bonus question, don't feel obligated to answer this one since it's not really DMing: I know you guys have been interested in Pathfinder 2e. It's been very hard to find Actual Play podcasts for that system, especially if like me you prefer original homebrew settings/stories. Any chance Campaign 4 or a side-campaign will be done in Pathfinder 2e?)

Hey Murph, I’m interested in DMing combat with no mini map. How do I know what and how to describe? I am a new DM and get overwhelmed with combatant stat blocks. Is there an easier way to look at them? The last game I DM’d had so many monsters and stat blocks to keep track of I forgot to even narrate players attacks. (It was a module. ) thanks for the help !

Bobomb36x

I have a question that might be better suited for a Hearthside chat since it involves Emily, but what's creating the music for the background of NADDPOD like? Do you give her much input on mood or tempo, and how do you decide what to play behind which scenes?

Has the link for this been posted yet by any chance? Just making sure I don't miss out on all the goodness!

Autumnis_Prime

they all actually talk about this in the January 5th episode of D&D court called Rise of the Robo DMs.
