Oh boy, a new episode! I'm so glad the cast of this, my favourite podcast, will not be continuing the dip spit bit that I find so distasteful. The dragon pussy podcast guys surely wouldn't keep that kind of bit going! I sure am excited to get my teeth around this thick 'sode and really digest this dip-spit-less few hours of audio comedy!

I am less than 3 minutes into this episode, and I've gotta say, the whole thing "you give him inspiration!" bit is quite possibly the absolutely funniest thing I have ever heard. Super pumped to listen to the rest of the episode. You all are amazing

So I am 16 minutes and 32 seconds into the episode and I am begging you to stop with the dipspit. Somehow you are hitting a nerve that I didn't know I had. I have been a subscriber for a couple years now which is a couple hundred dollars total and I wanted to turn this episode off. I can't listen to this while I eat or do anything near food.

I get people not liking it, but it would be pretty hard to edit around a runner they enjoyed while batch recording for Jake's paternity leave and Murph already pushes pretty hard to get the editing done, so I hope the crew knows some of us have patience and understanding and will enjoy the DS as long as they did.

I don't actually even understand what's so upsetting about it either. Like, stunkbug can talk about eating literal shit, the two crew can nearly call themselves the little stains, and they can drink Damon's bath water in the tomb of horrors but this is where some people are drawing the line? does anyone else find the "you failed one perception check so this very bad thing happens" thing a little unsatisfying? I liked it more with the clockwork worm because it fed into the moment of fracturing in the group, but here it felt like it just undercut the group's and Callie in particular's success against the mothership side winning over Swag and the serpent 😔

So many rows of roses for this episode! The alternative stun rules, the explosions, the new Balnor (Kenna) and her sidekick mechanics, the use of legendairy resistance in a new way, twoffo-Buffo, and of course the utterly serious way Murph said “Bean Rat”, and no one laughed or giggled. What a great episode!!!

Returning to this after a walk and processing the Heinous News From Supreme Hellcourt, this was ruder than it needed to be. New stun mechanic very cool! Robot battle was solide, Squire energy unrivaled. Qualms with stuff I said before still tho :p

Idk man, Emily killed it with her recruiting of swag and calming down the serpent. Hardwon jumping in front of a bullet to help, and twofo buffo interacting all to not matter because of one check an episode ago. Disappointing imo.

Yee, a paladin dip can help a lot with burst damage to almost any melee class. IT was pitched for hardone as a joke to be a paladin of mama, i was always REALLY behind the idea because it would have punched up his burst damage like this. My fav combo is battle master fighter, dip into paladin. Its an awesome class all around.

Don't usually comment on the eps but this one narratively felt really unfulfilling to the extent I felt compelled - what I'm seeing from other commenters is "you failed one check a few episodes ago so the payoff just doesn't happen" really doesn't feel good as a narrative beat. When it happened for the slug I get it, this time? Man idk. Everything else felt appropriately tense, but that moment just feels like it kills a lot of the satisfaction as an audience member. I don't want the party to always win, but I hope that stops being a recurring tool in the future (I know it's only been twice but it feels bad). Especially after all of the incredible work Callie/Emily put into calming the serpent and finding the "pacifist" solution.

Long-time listener, first time commenter... That forced loss cutscene at the end felt so terrible. The group completely disregarding the clue about the rats for the sake of comedy however many episodes ago is pretty in line I guess but the rat being able to completely foil their success and overcome the serpent because that's what's going to happen next according to the DM is too much of a disappointment. Every moment of conflict in that fight was so frustrating and then it was a massive failure for no reason. How many failed perception checks. Everything feels bad in a bad way. They haven't had a win in so long and it's too despairing. Absurdly well-designed encounter as usual but that end was the worst episode end I can remember. I think mostly because the conclusion got swept away, like if he had just ended with bean rat climbing on top of the serpent and cliff'd it there it wouldn't have felt like forcing the loss.

(excited) kenna the squire is the most loveable npc in the world <3 i'll be honest, when we first learned we'd find three serpents i thought there'd be one for each party member. that might've been the case, but i imagine the enormous one would've been for our half-giant friend... on that note, i sure hope we get kaldur back soon! at this point i had to remind myself hardwon wasn't always here :(

I think it also felt bad for me with the rock fall encounter last session, the players avoid min maxing for perception which is generally a Strong strategy for character building so having a punishing encounter and two narrative save-or-SUCK moments has really felt like a bummer

lotta complaints in these comments. wonder if it'll end up the beef of the week. i loved the ep! found myself feeling similarly invested in the way i did around this time in c1. crazy that the purple worm fight and the serpent fight are around relatively similar times. my only complaint is that the lesbians miss jaina!!!! we miss our lesbian dwarf

I am in awe of how much everyone hates the DS bit. Too real, maybe? Umbridge : Voldemort :: Dip Spit Sip : Dragon Pussy In any case, I should really be thanking you all. I also found the bit gross at first, but then everyone reacted so violently that it became funnier than it was disgusting.

So some will have some problems with this episode, but going back two episodes, the issue people'll have with it was heavily foreshadowed, and then players did nothing with the information that could have saved them from being bit in the ass. I can't blame Murph here. I liked it a lot actually, a lot of consequences for being reactive instead of proactive!

See I do not understand any of the Bean Rat hate, hands down it was the dumbest mistake to not kill the known familiar of Grohmdal when they had the chance, and to send it to where their allies were. Krugan and co are in danger now because of that. I fully expected that decision to bite them in the ass the minute that episode aired. No hate to any of the party cause I think those sorts of mistakes are what make the show fun, but I absolutely am with Murph on the consequences of that being this severe.

I don’t disagree with this in the least and I think for me it was just how deflating the execution of it was - I’d almost have preferred an immediate punishment or it making the encounter harder (rats flood out to make their checks more difficult or add a swarm to the encounter to deal with) vs it feeling like it just undoes the win.

Just finished the episode. That ending was so railroaded and disappointing. I've never commented before but this one was quite the let-down. Hope you have better luck with the writing on the next one I guess
