Jake's wrestler name is now Jake "The Cake" Herwitz

wizard wearing a poodle skirt

pre-listen, wondering if it’s possible for this goosebumps read-through to make me cry and laugh as much as the grandma one 🤞🤞

Mitchell Sigalas

8 bit book club is my favourite type of post! It's great you could get a guest!

Tyler Gob

I'm so glad you guys have kept doing these!!!

Ohhh Kay what am I about to listen to…?

daddy's special pudding

Pretending the main character is 35 years old is absolutely my favourite bit.

Sir Crits-A-Lott

It's cool to hear someone new on the pod. Good job Jim!

I vaguely recall seeing this book in my youth, but the only one I remember reading is one where you have to escape from a haunted carnival. As a side note, this sent me into a Goosebumps/R.L. Stine wormhole, and turns out the guy wrote a AD&D storybook published by Marvel prior to Goosebumps. It’s called “The Forest of Enchantment” if anyone is curious.

Martin Paluoja

Whoa! Shout out to ESTONIA!

"How did you get perfect synchronicity for "That's old for a bird", and no one freaked out about that?

Talking about the garage fridge is the most reliable thing 😂

R.I.P my first cat Crackers, lived a good life and made it past 20!

Merissa McClure

I love when short rest energy bleeds into the main feed. 😂🤣

Sean Flanagan

Fun bird fact! Seagulls can live to be up to 75 years old!

Growing up I loved goosebumps so much and I've actually read 2 of the choose your own scare books and this was one of the ones I had! I would love y'all are able to keep finding these, especially the genie in the coke can🥰🥰🥰

Samantha Melcher

Interesting timing that Murph mentioned RICO considering Trump was just charged under the RICO act in Georgia!

Glenn Dowdle

I love all the 8 bit book clubs even if it is just torture for Murph sometimes.

Shane C

According to the Goosebumps wiki I found (with intricate decision maps that show the good and bad endings) if you said you can’t do 5 pushups you just got a bad ending

Apple Slapple

So excited that you guys finally got Jake on an 8-Bit Book Club!

Ilana Galpert

also so sad that Caldwell's great Cakey Bird joke was passed over

Stella

Okay but who puts peanut butter in the fridge???

Declane Gilhooley

Was way more into the cake talk then the book hahahqh,

Connor

I love their mad libs approach to these stories where they add a level of narrative to the story that makes absolutely no sense and gets increasingly baffling as they go. Also, I have thought about considering getting into cakes, would love to know if anyone else has been thinking about considering getting into cakes and how ones gets all the way to fully considering getting into cakes.

Jamie Matthews

So excited for Cirque Du Soleil: The Gathering to come to my city so I can watch a Juggalo fight an elephant in person

Andrew Burgess

I heard that Zunesha reference Caldwell

Mushy

Just noticed the tiny Jake. Lol.

So I’ve been listening to old 8-bit book club as kind of a prequel to NADDPOD and there are several things that became NADDPOD staples that started as 8-bit book club things. Such as: - Caldwells love of collecting dads - Emily’s mispronunciation of “Jaina” - Ackerot and Bronzebeard - A love for page 69 - Applying DnD mechanics to non-DnD books - Emily’s love hate relationship with puzzles - Emily: “I would make my tits huge” - Rolling for horniness (Sonic) - Caldwell and Emily’s love of costumes - Fictional punishments for people who’ve wronged them - Stalagtite and stalagmite - Soul collecting via vehicles in hell (Twisted Metal) - Emily mentions “bringing people to the brink” - Talking about how they listen to video game music while working - Talking about “the light” (Kingdom Hearts) - Emily’s character liking to be naked (D&D monster madness) - Being confounded by simple math - Caldwell’s “creative” use of spells and abilities (ie, in “Monster Madness” Caldwell casts “detect thoughts” on a Sprite to get into their mind) - Rolling a lot of twos - Predator handshake - Caldwell: “we should start a Patreon so I can just draw for people on the subreddit” - mentions a character “keeping it tight” - The gang wonders what a wimple is - The Pendergreens voice - Caldwell love of halflings and hatred of gnomes - Emily wanting to be a Druid - Separating dwarves into Nobel houses - Caldwell mentions wanting to get a P.O. Box - Caldwell’s robot voice

I must say that the consistent stream of "excuse me"s from Jake was top 10 naddpod bits for me. I just couldn't stop laughing

Don't worry Caldwell I understood your one piece reference "we could form a rogue nation on the back of the elephant"

Darion Aronson

This series has made me want to start rereading goosebumps I found a copy of the first choice book they made to read which was 80s or 90s I think
