Feel like poisoner would be a sick ranger subclass

Xanian Jamfalcon

For cool poison stuff, check out Spheres 5e's Alchemy Sphere!

Meletios Lendis

I’m having an anxiety & panic ridden no-good day, thank you for uploading Naddpod, I need to think about fire giants and talking frogs for a little bit 💚🩵🖤

Myka Donati

We had a brown mantis near our house once, went out the back door and watched one land near the spider nest under the deck, land and punch a spider square in the face, and proceed to drag it away. Same species landed out front that summer, yoinked a grub from the ground, ans had a full boxing match with said grub.

Canid

Wait is Emily actually the trickster god Anansi (depicted as a spider)?

Alex W.

So the film Emily mentioned about the eye getting sliced? I think it's Un Chien Andalou, a surrealist film by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali. Still feels like something Jodorowsky would have done!

Saoirse

Every animal is a cutie confirmed

faizaan723

Haven’t listened to the ep yet, but that title has got to be a partial Witcher reference I’m sure of it

In dnd 3/3.5 poison affect the stats like dex and constitution. The effect is like a number of D6 substracs for a time so like purple worm poison is a first check for 3d6 and 1hour later in the game another check and another 3d6 so if the stat go to 0 you die

Nick_Nack_Patty_Whack

Possums can’t carry rabies, their body temperature is too low.

tacticalgrandma

I’m trying to do a workable poisoner build too and one thing I’m considering is actually Way of Mercy Monk—at level 6 you can poison for a round at the cost of 1 ki point. Still doesn’t do anything about how many creatures are resistant, but does mean you don’t have to spend hundreds of gold and all your downtime.

Eric Keller

I see the opportunity for a spin-off one shot. A opposite of Hot Boy Summer featuring Darrius or however it's spelled. Him and his old man friends fighting against the youth. Fighting a Children of the Corn.....Children of the Hedge .

Henrique Scott

Jake, saw you crushing some pickleball today. Keep that hustle up

Randy

Could Cali had changed to a summer Eladrin to resist the heat?

Most_average_justin

Is anyone else shocked that Calder hasn't bent the knee to Jaina yet?

Francisco Hernandez

The knife through the eye is the symbol for paladin Oath of the Watchers in the dnd books i think! Just to avoid anyone else pulling up potentially scarring google images

Joshua Brint

Caldwells joke of “because hes big and blue” was so funny and so glossed over

Gabriel Graywood

The movie Emily was remembering was Un Chien Andalou, by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali

I know the Grim Hollow supplement has a pretty good poisoner subclass.

Tara Capel

Murph wouldn’t objectify the orange top hat fairy, but would be horny for a spider 👀

Penpen

I literally just relistened to the DK island episodes that yall did, and its so funny having that callback in this short rest to the Reptile Super show that you guys talked about so much in those short rests

Luke Knecht

For Emily on her poisoner idea, the Blood Hunter class made by Matt Mercer has a Mutagen Craft subclass. I've been trying to do the same thing and this class does the best in my opinion

Nexacon

I think the symbolism of the daggers in the eyes probably goes all the way back to Oedipus Rex and it’s honestly baller as hell

Cheese of the Lake

Can you do a mixed bag where you all sit down for some afternoon tea and just have a chat with each other? It would be enjoyable to just listen to y’all’s conversations about whatever tangents you go down

Ghost

I basically rent my parents basement and I've told everyone "I have a deal with the spiders. The rugged area and the surrounding furniture is my space, they can have the rest of the basement" and honestly for the most part they leave me alone. Evey so often I'll even feed then by swatting the fliers that wind up down there with us

Jovi89

I believe this is already a show and it's called Not Another D&D Podcast lmao

Mary Colligan

I live in a spider house too. My house looks haunted by the amount of spider webs and even in my classroom, we don’t kill spiders. That’s backfired a bit because we’ve had baby spiders dropping from the ceiling all day and my kids are not as cool with spiders as me.

Cain Catto

My banana ball python says hello!! his name is jericho and he is a very silly man!!

Cain Catto

oh and a note to emily and jake—i have two leopard geckos named nyack and figueroth!!

BoredLibrarian

I'm going to stick up for our West Coast reptiles and say that at least our venomous snakes clearly warn you that they're there. When I lived on the East Coast I nearly stepped onto copperheads multiple times, quiet snakes are way scarier than rattlesnakes.

Linnea Patterson

For your Madison show tomorrow- Ha Long Bay is delicious for lunch or dinner!!! (And close to the venue)

Vivi

No wonder my court cases never get picked, Jake is scared of me ;-; /joking

Heidi Nehls

I heard it said once that Nature is harsh but it isn’t cruel, cruel implies intention. ALSO, I suggest listening to the 9/30/22 ep of This American Life to hear why we’re all wrong about Black Widow spiders.

Paul Westmore

The way I have homebrewed poisons that are ingested as opposed to the types that are dipped on weapons, is that the poison effectively does Bestow Curse (https://roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Bestow%20Curse#content) Then I just change that wisdom saving throw to a Con saving throw and set the DC to the proficiency of the brewer... so the poison doesn't do more when made by someone more talented, but is instead more difficult to resist. And then just treat the condition exactly like they are cursed, and choose one of the options for the curse as the poison effect. And then I have them roll their full hit dice each night they remain poisoned, and in the morning after a long rest, they have HP equal to what they rolled to start the day. Never had one that really was a threat to outright kill the drinker though. Then I allow a remove curse, greater restoration, and any healing spell of 6th level or higher to cleanse the poison affect, I have also done one that just lasted 1d4+3 days.

foster the boneless duck

i can't believe the reptile show story has been cut short i need to hear it once more!!

Jaden Saied

I would absolutely buy a bottle of red herring wine if y’all made it

KaptainSigyl

I am ride-or-die for almost every bug. I love bugs. They're the absolute coolest

Bulbarat

Y'all are forgetting you can coat your weapons in D&D and I'd say a vial would probably be worth about 5 dips, maybe more if they have a bigger one or smaller weapon. I kinda wanna make a homebrew class for this now. Or rogue subclass

Anonymous

For the poisoner/poison issue, I recommend Crown & Crown's 'Herbarium' supplement - loads of botanical stuff and fun ways of creating poisons. Plus it has a Poisoner Rogue subclass which could be fun? https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/417928/Herbarium-A-Botanical-5e-Supplement

Kate Davis

Can anyone help me find the RSS feed for Short Rest? I have failed many intelligence checks on this one because every help page (even the Patreon support ones) describe a layout that is different than what I'm seeing....

Anonymous

The symbol of gruumsh is called the unwinking eye and it is very, very similar. No sword, but it is a bleeding eye.

Eric Bouchey

Aren't there some poison mechanics that act like something conditional like exhaustion? Disadvantage on checks and such until restoration or long rest

Ted Orbach

Spiders are fucking adorable y'all

Rachel Indelicato

Oh my god no joke I just saw a spider with green eyes in my backyard. She was beautiful. And fast… 🥲

Bat-Fran

Didn't Brennan hack the mechanics for crown of candy? Surely poison came into play.... like didn't the water blade instantly mean Lou was poisoned but because he succeeded the con save he was able to get help? I can't remember but I feel like he just rewrote mechanics....

Pearl of a Girl Nursery

“What’s the animal that’s tried the hardest to fuck you?” -Emily Axford, 2023

Anonymous

If I remember correctly, it was three constitution saving throws in a row. Damage (save for half), Paralysis (save for only throat closing/silence instead of entire body), Posioned condition (save to negate). It was INTENSE.

Bat-Fran

Clearly it's time to rewatch Crown of Candy 😂 but yeah, he made it difficult to save but possible cause he was a beast for constitution 😂

Sean

Nice catch caldwell. The tony hawk symbol you're talking about is neversoft and the 'o' is a stabbed eye. Also jake needs to look at a silk moth. They are like teddy bears

Kyle smith

Why did Emily lie about the Mouser roll? She got a 33 from a 1d20+12? Did she neglect to mention a spent bardic or did Murph edit out a guidance or what?
