. Only vaguely, mind. We were young then, ourselves. When they started coming for us, they made sure to take the oldest of us first, the ones who’s memories were more intact. But with the rumours of the reappearance of The Croaking circulating more, they’ve upped their quota and now they’ll take anyone hatched before the end of the rest of the world. They don’t want us talking about it, don’t want us fanning the flames, igniting anything. the funny thing is, The Croaking was largely forgotten about, dismissed as old folklore. It’s them taking it so seriously that has lent credence to those tales. The opposite of their attempt to tear it from our lips.

S: why only old Corvids? Surely there are Avians of other species older than 50 who remember? Some of my professors were older than that.
