This week we talked to David Sheen, a freelance investigative journalist who has been on the ground reporting about Israel/Palestine for 15 years and recently wrote this bombshell article for Electronic Intifada about the Israeli Colonel who invented burned babies to fuel a genocide. He is also someone who knows more about Meir Kahane than anyone I've ever met so we talked about that for a good portion of the episode. ENJOY YOUR FATTY EPISODE.

Following up on Daniel’s first impression of Meir Kahane, I started searching for additional clips of him. And man, this one in Hebrew really reveals what a ghoul he was. https://youtu.be/8CNWbdD6aNs?si=3LPkOCX4XWYqhRmc

Autotune for the win! 😁

‘The better to ethnically cleanse you with’ 🤣🤪😭

Can you make David your third co-host? 😲 I thought I knew a lot about Zionism, and he just humbled me!

The video is under two minutes long, yet it contains enough contradictions to fill an hour!

BRUTAL. Thanks to David Sheen for the comprehensive guide to Kahanism. Can't wait to read his report. Also thanks to A&D&M (Adam, Daniel, Matt) for the finely placed chuckles on this very dense but absolutely necesary episode. Front the river to the sea, Matt can't find the vocoder key.

Great episode, maybe my favourite as a nerd with how knowledge David is and all the jokes from all around, love the autotune, can’t wait for next time David guests

Kahane got Islamic theology wrong when it comes to intermarriage: women who are People of the Book (i.e. Jewish or Christian, and sometimes certain other ancient religions) are allowed to marry Muslim men without converting, though men who are People of the Book are not allowed to marry Muslim women without converting. This creates a conundrum with Jewish matrilineal descent, where the children of a Jewish woman and Muslim man could be considered Jewish and Muslim at the same time. And if one is a fundamentalist type, this sort of conundrum is probably *worse* than if the woman simply converted (in which case one could simply write her off).

Anti-Zionism really doesn’t focus on Zionist shlilat ha’golah nearly enough! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negation_of_the_Diaspora My attitude towards Zionism is that Zionism is primarily motivated by (and about) spite towards diaspora Jews, and everything else is a means to an end. (To riff on Voltaire: if Amalek does not exist, then Amalek should need to be created.)

omg i also had never heard of the Falik family ..... makes me think of comedian Lee Camp (i say invite Lee and Elanor on the podcast!!) hes got a joke about how as the world becomes more and more upside down we will see these strange coincidences with names being a little too accurate

Have Daniel and Katie Halper done stuff together or would that be too many puns?

Teenage white boys in Palestine decide who lives and dies and teenage white boys in the US get to decide to cover it up.

A certain 19-20 year old Cornell intern named max Whalen is the arbiter of truth in this case.

This was a great episode! I didn't know much about Meir Kahane before. So interesting!
