Play the final version here!

The final version of Eat the Dungeon is here! The final boss is revealed and our heroes may just save the world (and maybe their waistlines)?

None of this would have been possible without the generosity of my patrons! Thank you so much!

This update includes:

  • 4 new levels, including their cutscenes

  • The final boss

  • 14 new bestiary entries

  • A new BGM track

  • Fixed the layout of the gingerbread levels

  • Changed the Croissant Priest enemy to be vulnerable to weapon and magic, instead of weapon and sneak (So the Illusionist can still get him with her new stat line)

  • Fixed numerous bugs with the Progress Reset button on the title screen

  • Fixed a coloring error in the Bard sprite on fat level 3

  • The Magus's speed penalty is now 1.3 instead of .7

  • New credits sequence

Thank you for playing!

It's great that you are finally done with this game (though it still has performance issues, with slowdown being fairly common).

Would you be willing to put this game on steam alongside itch.io? Don't get a lot of wg games (especially ones this high quality) on steam. It's kinda just CupCupMug's Games & Fattening Career and that's it.

What device/browser are seeing slowdowns on? I'll do my best to fix them but tbh I'm kinda running up against the limit of what I can personally do with JavaScript

Honestly I never really considered steam because I thought ETD would be too niche to do well on that platform. The main thing that turns me off of steam is the $100 submission fee combined with the fact that I've said in multiple places that "Eat the Dungeon will always be free". I never want to go back on that statement, and paying $100 to release a free game is unappealing. Itch's PWYW option is appealing to me because I can sell the game for money while also still respecting that promise. There's schemes where I could say put ETD for free and sell a dlc item like a digital art book, but that's a big deal and I'd have to spend a lot of time thinking carefully about it. For Game 2 I want to leave the possibility open that I'll sell the game for money someday (but like patrons would get free keys of course)
