Piggyback Riding

By jumping with space and then pressing space again in mid air near the robot, the player will attach itself to the back of the robot. The robot can then do everything it does with you on its back. You can walk around, grapple around, and generally play the game in a pseudo-first person way.

This change was necessary to get rid of the awkward "grab onto the robot to grapple around" that was just weird and messy. So now you can zip around with the robot!

Diving

 The entire purpose of this is to find ways around the problem where sometimes you fall and you can't reach your robot anymore. So this is a Hail Mary way to force your robot to unstuck itself by forcefully diving in a particular direction.

Fast Travel Mechanics

 The map is still small but it did warrant having a way to return back home without your robot (or with). So for this incoming release there will only be two fast travel points: home and end of tunnel. Of course as I add more places the list of available fast travel points will grow.

Also to unlock a fast travel point you will need to laser melt rocks that are blocking the giant larva holes. Once you melt away the rock, the giant larva will come out and greet you. You can then use natural speech language to ask it to take you somewhere else.

PREPARING FOR BUILD RELEASE!

I've been doing TONS of bug fixing. Some of the many things I've done in the past week:

  • Fixed save/load serialization of objects

  • Prevented null reference errors

  • Code digestion

  • Small optimizations

  • Physics stability improvements

So yes the long awaited July build will be releasing sometime in the next 7 days. After that we can start on the "Slice of life" update with lots of character behaviors and cute features!

Just asking out of curiosity, if you say kill a larva in front of the giant larva npc ,does something happens?

Pretty cool so far. At this stage the robot seems to mostly just.. Run off of cliffs? Even still, very interesting project. I'll keep an eye on this one.
