This week:
Robot Upgrade System
Software Changes
Revisiting November Update
Robot Upgrade System
This is adding another fun level of complexity to the robot. If you ever wanted to improve how fast the grapple hook reels in or maybe how fast it can run, surf, or maybe even edit directly the system prompt for the AI robot, you need wait no more!
To create gameplay progression, you will able to buy better processor cores to get more skill points, called teraflops in this game. However, better cores will consume more electricity which will require better batteries or portable charging methods, but more on this later.
Processor cores will increasingly become more expensive, requiring more exploration and mining of Iridium!
Software Changes
The new upgrades system has prompted the need for some simplicity. Each software will no longer need to be manually enabled or disabled. Instead, it will appear on the computer screen if you have the physical robot part connected. So for example, if you want to upgrade the grapple hook, you will need to connect it to the robot and then the computer. Likewise upgrading the walking component, you will need to make sure your robot has all bipedal limbs connected.
This makes it way easier to just install and go without managing software for every action, it's now automated.
Revisiting November Update
First off I want to comment on the desert. I really really love how it turned out. It's really pretty at night to surf with your robot. I didn't get to talk much about the secrets or the desert features since they were mostly kept hidden until the November Trailer but yes the desert does include:
A secret NPC that will give you iridium if you do what it says
A secret super grappling hook
Challenging daytime sun-heat adventures
Two new hats (Cowboy hat and Sunhat)
I've had some people want the clothing to affect the multiplier of how hot the robot gets in direct desert sunlight. This is a really cool idea and I would like to implement it. However I do have a priority list but if I finish it before the month ends, I will certainly revisit it.
Stay tuned!
