Chapter 126: Save More Money
“What is that sound? It sounds like it's coming from outside.” MP5, who was playing cards with two Rippers in the dining room, vaguely heard a loud roar from outside. She stood up in confusion, pressed against the porthole, and looked out.
MP40 and several Rippers nearby were also curious and gathered around.
Their movement quickly attracted the attention of the other Dolls and iron-blooded Dolls in the dining room, who crowded around to see what was going on outside.
A group of Dolls gathered at the porthole, tiptoeing to see what was so interesting outside.
“Here… uh, it’s not very clear. It looks like a big, dark thing… Hey! Don’t push, don’t push! Let’s go to the lounge on the lower floor! The view window there will surely show it!” MP5 shouted, squeezing out of the crowd and leading a group of people out of the dining room.
G36 watched, frowning as she walked to the porthole and looked at the situation below.
MDR had already run off, likely looking for a better filming spot. But was there a problem with the mission? It was just about finding an air cargo box, yet it seemed to be taking too long.
Just as she was thinking, G36 saw a huge black shadow flash past the porthole…
Based on the ship’s current altitude, the size of that shadow… It was no smaller than their ship!?
“Is Commander and the others really okay?”
“UMP45, you’ve been watching the situation below, right?”
“Yeah, I’ve been keeping an eye on it. Don’t worry, everything is fine. That big guy below can’t do much against the commander and the others. In fact, they don’t even need the commander to take action. Nagant and the others can handle it just fine.”
Although it started a bit slow, the battle shouldn’t last long.
“Okay.” Hearing UMP45’s reassurance, G36 nodded and sat back down.
But she couldn’t sit still for more than a few seconds and got up, heading to the bridge.
Instead of watching from the lounge windows, it was clearer to observe from the bridge through the ship’s monitors.
Meanwhile, in the ship’s simulation training room, G11 had jumped down from her throne, giving her seat to MG42, and was standing by the monitor, messaging UMP45 through the Doll communication channel.
“45, I want to see the situation with the commander and the others below. What was that sound just now?”
“Hmm? Sure, I’ll transfer it to the training room’s screen right now. Screen two, you can watch it yourself. Anyway, nothing major happened. I think the commander and the others will be back soon.”
As UMP45 finished speaking, the second screen in the training room switched from MG42’s repeated failures to the real-time battle situation of Renault and his team.
“This is…?” Springfield, worried that MG42 might be frustrated by her struggles in the novice training, was surprised at the sight of the tentacled mutant attacking aimlessly but failing to hit anything.
Though she didn’t recognize the massive mutant, she knew the power armor being used by the Dolls fighting it was the same kind Renault’s team had used when they came to support Griffin’s base.
While she didn’t know the specific data, the appearance of the power armor was already recorded in Griffin’s database.
“Is Commander Renault fighting this mutant?” Springfield’s brows furrowed as she saw Renault standing not far from the mutant in the highly polluted area.
Wasn’t he being too bold? If he suddenly died here, what would become of the Dolls who had just switched sides and deleted all their lower-level protocols? They’d be unemployable, tied to the same fate.
“Yeah, but I didn’t expect to encounter a mutant. This one looks big, but it’s surprisingly weak.” G11 commented, watching the executioner chop off a large section of tentacles with a single swing.
Weak… weak?
Springfield’s worries were all blocked by G11’s words. Such a massive mutant was considered weak?
For ordinary tactical Dolls, their weapons might not even penetrate the mutant’s silicate armor!
“Well, its tentacles aren’t very strong, only powerful when extending or retracting. Once Executioner got close, it can’t even throw her off.”
So, it was weak. G11 hadn’t seen the mutant effectively attack Executioner who was rampaging on it.
“Then… why isn’t the gunship attacking…?”
Springfield clearly saw the heavily armed gunship hovering in the air, occasionally circling within the mutant’s attack range but not engaging it.
“The cargo box, the cargo box. The fragments inside that mutant are the wreckage of the crashed cargo plane.” Shaking her head, G11 returned her attention to the other screens.
Instead of watching the mutant get beaten one-sidedly, it was more interesting to watch WA2000 and the others struggle in the training devices!
She also needed to record it. MDR said she would pay for the footage! The commander mentioned that after completing this mission, they’d get passes to other big cities or something.
So, it was essential to save more money!
Seeing the red dots at the corners of the screens, Springfield’s eyes twitched. She was glad there were only five connected devices, she is asworried that her embarrassing moments in training might be recorded by G11.
Fearing the worst, just as Springfield hesitated to slip away, WA2000 screamed, “Ah! I can’t take it anymore! What kind of training is this? How can humans survive such a battlefield!?”
Jumping up, WA2000 angrily handed the access device to Springfield, unaware that her miserable training session had been recorded by someone planning to sell it to MDR for money.
Chapter 127: Cargo in Hand
"Yes, this is more like it. At least this time the commander didn’t have to take action himself. Watching him handle everything alone every time is too demoralizing for us." Nagant Revolver nodded with satisfaction as she observed the mutant being torn apart by NZ75 and Executioner.
"True, but I didn’t expect this mutant to be such a paper tiger. As soon as it came out of the water, it got beaten back to its original form. What exactly is inside its belly?" CF05 curiously looked at the dismantled massive mutant.
Inside the mutant’s body, besides some flesh-like materials, everything else was layers of silicate wrapping around various objects like train carriages, locomotive parts, airplane engine debris, and even yachts...
Of course, the cargo boxes from the crashed plane were also there, though most were twisted and deformed, looking like pretzels. The condition of their contents was evident.
"Uh, won’t our mission be considered a failure? These cargo boxes are already in this shape, their contents are probably already ruined." AK47, along with Interference, was carrying one of the excavated cargo boxes.
"Probably, but it’s not our fault. At worst, we won’t get paid. We have everything recorded, so the client can’t blame us." Intruder said indifferently.
She didn’t care much about the success of this mission. As long as she could stay with Renault, get food, and occasionally go out with other dolls, she was content.
Just like when Mrs. Graven invited them to the cruise, she guessed such opportunities wouldn’t be scarce. Moreover, she wasn’t fond of running around; being able to go out was good, but staying put was also fine.
Renault stood nearby, smoking with some frustration. The battle was trivial, nothing worth mentioning. The key issue was the mission. Just when they were about to succeed, this annoying mutant appeared.
And this thing specifically targeted objects with large amounts of energy. Look at what it ate: locomotive parts, airplane engines, mostly fuel-burning items.
Who would’ve thought this mutant evolved to extract energy from fossil fuels...
However, once its body was torn apart too much, it stopped moving completely. Whether it was out of energy or injured by Executioner’s attacks was unclear.
As long as it couldn’t move, it was fine. He wasn’t here to exterminate mutants; he just needed to extract the cargo boxes from the mutant.
Although the mutant was huge, it wasn’t difficult for Executioner and NZ75 in power armor. It was a good way for Executioner to burn off her excess energy.
"Commander, we’ve found the cargo boxes from the cargo plane, but the number doesn’t match Gerald’s information. There are only six boxes and two twisted fragments, totaling eight."
"Eight?"
Gerald’s report clearly stated that there were sixteen cargo boxes on the plane, along with some scattered goods.
"This mutant didn’t swallow the entire cargo plane. The excavated wreckage includes only the section with the engine and wings." HK416, seeing Renault’s frown, reluctantly pointed to the lake’s nearly refrozen surface.
It was evident that the remaining cargo boxes, unless fragmented, were left in the lake by the mutant.
"Alright, you all stay here. I’ll go check it out. Nagant, give me a rope."
"Okay, okay." Nagant hurriedly handed the rope to Renault, watching him remove his protective suit and jump into the dark lake with a splash.
"Um… should we suggest equipping ourselves with an underwater propulsion device and enhancing our water resistance next time?" CF05 said dejectedly, seeing Renault take action again.
"Actually, we could go down with the rope, but underwater visibility is poor and our waterproofing capabilities are uncertain. It’s better not to cause trouble for the commander."
Splash!
As they spoke, the lake suddenly rippled, and Renault emerged from the water without the rope he had taken down.
"Stop standing around. Pull this up and disinfect it in the ship’s cargo hold." He instructed, planning to have Gerald identify the boxes himself later. Opening them to identify the target wasn’t worth the trouble.
Hearing this, the dolls were stunned, then widened their eyes.
He found it in less than two minutes and even tied the cargo box with the rope to be pulled up?
For a moment, the dolls looked at each other, feeling their previous efforts were a bit foolish.
Even Executioner threw down her breaching axe in frustration, grabbing the rope to pull. Though the battle wasn’t very satisfying, it was enjoyable.
But Renault’s swift move left her annoyed.
Comparing herself to others was indeed infuriating!
"Stop pouting and pull. Instead of sulking, hope for a mission that doesn’t require the commander’s personal involvement."
"Yeah, at least we didn’t embarrass ourselves this time. This place is a doll no-go zone, and ordinary dolls can’t even get here!"
Listening to the dolls’ self-consolation, HK416 silently pulled a face. What was there to boast about in this pitch-black place?
Chapter 128 - Don't Want Anything Else
"What! It's already back! The things... have all been brought back as well! This is so fast..." Clutching the communicator in his hand, Gerald shouted with some incredulity, and at the same time also twisted his head to look at the calendar on his desktop.
After confirming that only two days had passed, he shouted, "It's only been two days! You guys have already made a round trip! It's still the same dock! I'll bring people over right away!"
It's a hell of a thing! This troublesome task that had plagued him for several months, he didn't realize that it had only just reached Renault's hands for two days! And it's already completely solved!
Gerald, who was excited in his heart, directly threw the matter of style and image to the back of his mind, put on a piece of clothing, and rushed out of the office.
Half an hour later.
"I can't believe you actually brought them all back!" Looking at the crates in front of him, Gerald shouted in joy.
Although a few of the cargo crates had been twisted and deformed, looking as if they had been crushed and flattened by something large, the most important cargo, apart from looking a little wet, did not have any serious damage.
"And it's still so well preserved! Surely, a professional is really different!"
Gerald rubbed his hands together, somewhat excitedly walking towards one of the cargo crates with a distinctly different appearance, and as he did so, he also fumbled for the key that Universal Anything had specifically used to open the cargo hold from his own pocket.
This key he also gave Renault before, but Renault obviously didn't use this thing, of course.
The key and everything is secondary, to open this special cargo box, the main verification is still the identity verification of the security system on the cargo box.
However, just as Gerald was about to walk three meters away from the cargo box, Renault suddenly reached out and stopped him.
"Mr. Renault? What do you mean by that? I've already prepared all those things I agreed to before?" Gerald frowned as he looked at Renault in front of him, and in his heart, he began to worry if this guy was trying to raise the price.
"That wouldn't be so bad, but I'd advise you to put this on before you get close. I'll do the verification." Renault said, tossing a cleaned-up protective suit to Gerald.
He couldn't let his client die because of a bit of Collapse radiation while the client was inspecting the goods at his presence; that would be a lot of fun.
Hearing Renault say that and after seeing the heavy protective suit in his hand, Gerald immediately shivered and hastily jumped back several meters, cleanly and neatly putting the heavy protective suit on his body.
It was all his own fault; he had just gotten a little carried away, he forgot that this thing was something that Renault had gotten out of the heavily contaminated area!
If there were still some contaminants left inside the cargo box, just a fist-sized piece would be enough to give him, an ordinary person, ELID.
Of course, Renault had actually sterilized and checked these cargo containers, although not open, but the aviation cargo containers used by Universal Everything are of good quality. Although it suffered alot after the crash as well as violent collision, in addition to those few twisted and deformed, the other several cargo containers actually have no problem at all.
They are even waterproof...
In this regard, when helping to fetch up those cargo box, Nagan Revolver and the girls did not complain a lot to him.
But these guys did not complain to the point; their doll bodies are originally waterproof. As long as it is not a hundreds of meters of the deep sea area, their doll bodies will not have any problem.
The real reason for not letting them go into the water is simply that they are afraid that these guys won't be able to swim up...
Universal Anything's cargo plane crashed just a few months ago, and the security system on the special cargo box is still operating normally.
Good thing Gerald updated the personnel data of the Universal Everything before, so that Renault has permission to open this cargo box.
However, Renault also remembered at this time, this permission update is required to connect to the network to be able to do, but excluding his phone that can seemlessly connect to anything, there isnt any signal being received here at all.
Luckily, he directly moved the cargo box all the way back, or else he tried to open the cargo box in the contaminated area.
But now there is no such trouble, no problem with the key, no problem with the identity authentication, the special cargo box hatch, directly opened by Renault.
HK416 held the detector and circled the cargo box twice, confirming that the radiation readings were normal, and then turned back to Renault and nodded.
Gerald, who had just ducked away, saw HK416's action and couldn't help himself, directly crossing Renault to get into the cargo box.
At this time, Renault and a group of dolls also saw the contents of the cargo box.
Three cargo containers specially used to store dolls, and a square, that looks a bit like a material box. At a glance one can see that the price of that thing is definitely far more than the container itself.
These things are all fixed on top of the cargo box, even if the plane crashed into the lake, it did not let these things deviate from their original position.
Of course, the most important thing is still that material box-like contraption. Those three cargo containers with dolls, I'm afraid it's just incidental.
Maybe it's like a bodyguard kind of thing...
But probably because they used the normal way of opening, these three dolls didn't start at all, or, maybe it won't start at all.
These three doll cargo containers might just be normal doll cargo containers...
And Gerald, after entering the cargo box, again took out his own prepared set of keys, carefully opened the box, entered a series of passwords, which successfully made Gerald open the box.
Looking at the storage array inside that was full and still well-preserved, Gerald immediately smiled with joy, "That's right! This is it! The stuff looks well-preserved! Although I don't know if the data inside is still there or not! But it's enough for me to deliver!"
In the end, he was just an employee working in the Universal Anything Service Company, his job was to find a way to retrieve these things, but the data inside... that would be a headache for those technicians in the company.
While saying that, Gerald also waved his hand and greeted those people he brought over and made them move this whole box of storage arrays away.
"You're not going to look at those other boxes?"
Looking at Gerald who didn't seem to care at all about those other crates, along with the three dolls in that particular crate were also something that Gerald didn't pay intention, Renault instantly opened his mouth and asked.
"Of course, there's absolutely no need to look at it, it's just some materials used to create dolls inside, about those other crates, the insurance company and the airlines have already paid out. But then again, Mr. Renault, when you guys went this time, did you find the figures of those two pilots?"
Chapter 129: Another Windfall?
Hiss!
Seeing the photo of the two pilots, now reduced to mere human-like silicon faces, and then the massive mutant that was as large as a small hill, Gerald couldn't help but gasp.
What is going on here!? This is a heavily polluted zone, sure, but it's still quite far from the black zone. How could such terrifying mutants appear here? How did Reno and his team even find these boxes?
Gerald shifted his gaze from the tablet in Reno’s hand, planning to take a good look at Reno to determine if he was even human. But then he noticed that Reno's other hand was making an international gesture...
Is he asking for money? Pay him more money!?
Gerald’s mouth twitched bitterly. But considering that Reno managed to bring back everything he wanted intact and so quickly, even while facing such outrageous mutants... maybe a little extra payment is justified.
Watching Gerald leave the spaceship's cargo hold with a pained expression, the rest of the team immediately crowded around Reno.
"Commander! How much did you get this time?"
Seeing them gather around, Reno held up one hand, "This much."
"Five thousand...!" Nagant Revolver exclaimed with joy upon seeing the gesture. While five million seemed unlikely, this mission was no child's play.
Besides, no employer other than Angelia would offer less than ten million for a job like this.
"I’ll go ask if anyone wants to buy anything!" Nagant Revolver took the lead, and the others quickly followed, rushing to their dorms.
Reno was left alone in the cargo hold, watching as the Rippers and Dolls Gerald brought along began moving the supplies into the hold.
In addition to the raw materials Gerald used to pay the reward, there were several other cargo boxes waiting to be dealt with. Since Gerald no longer wanted the boxes retrieved from the polluted zone, Reno had to open and check their contents himself.
Given that they were transported alongside an entire box of important data storage arrays, it was unlikely these were ordinary items. Otherwise, why use air transport instead of sea or rail?
After the workers used forklifts and other equipment to move everything inside, Reno closed the cargo hold and signaled UMP45 to take off immediately.
"Phew, it's finally over. Can I get some rest now, Commander? You did promise me a vacation," UMP45 said, leaping from her seat as if she'd been glued there for too long.
"Yes, yes, go ahead."
With nothing left to do, and the ship on a safe cruise route avoiding all major flight paths, there was no risk of encountering other aircraft.
"Off duty then. Want me to bring you some food later?"
"No need, just tell M1 Garand to bring a few Rilpers to move things around."
"Got it, got it." UMP45 yawned, looking ready for sleep after the long and dull stint in the cockpit.
Reno, meanwhile, began opening the recently retrieved cargo boxes. He noted that despite their journey, the boxes were quite sturdy. Apart from the damaged ones, the contents were well preserved.
Rushing back, he had only checked for radiation collapse inside the boxes before resealing them. Now, he found that the items inside didn't quite match what Gerald had described as materials for android manufacturing.
One of the boxes contained not android materials, but six repair devices. Other boxes had various nano repair materials, matching the quantities Reno had requested from Gerald.
Most interestingly, two of the boxes were filled with cold weapons, custom-made by Universal Anything, all stamped with their logo.
It wasn't unusual; the company also rented out bodyguard dolls, who needed non-firearm weapons for appearances.
For high-performance dolls, melee weapons could sometimes be more effective. In the center of these weapon storage boxes was a smaller, locked box, deliberately hidden. Reno had no intention of returning it, so he simply broke the lock and opened it.
A dazzling array of gold bars and uncut natural diamonds filled the box.
"Wow, Commander, did we just find someone's treasure trove?" P90 exclaimed, arriving with M1 Garand and some Tippers.
"Maybe. This box alone is worth at least three times what Gerald offered."
Clearly, Gerald didn't know about this, or he would have paid more attention to the cargo.
The specifics of any underlying conflicts were of no concern to Reno. Knowing he had struck gold was enough.
P90 showed little interest in the valuables, "Commander, there are two doll storage pods labeled as returns."
"What model?"
"Butler-36, a popular model among the wealthy. It's surprising to see it returned," P90 said, looking at the accompanying wardrobes.
"Not uncommon. G36 models are modifications of this type, and returns happen for various reasons." M1 Garand shrugged, noting the pristine condition of the pods.
"Unexpected things do happen... Wait! They still have inventory of Universal Anything’ Security 2.0 models?" P90 jumped in surprise, seeing the three doll storage pods inside the box.
Chapter 130 - Names are Hard to Think Of
"IDW da meow!"
"ID ..."
"......"
Snap!
Watching Renault activate all three of Universal Anything's Security 2.0 Dolls one after another, P90 suddenly slapped her head.
However, the words that came out of the mouths of these dolls stunned P90.
IDW? Isn't that a name that only Griffin tactical dolls would have? These several dolls... shouldn't they all have been sent back by Griffin's commanders?
Then their fire control core was removed and finally returned... But the return point should also be IOP with their own service planes; how could it be that they were sent via Universal Anything transporter?
Moreover, the three dolls did not seem to have their memories erased, and after the first one shouted out her name, the next two directly held back all of their words and also immediately recalled their own situation, with their pair of ears and the tail behind them all hanging down.
Renault naturally had no intention of pursuing the origins of these three cats. "You three, do you have your own names?"
Hearing Renault's question, the three demoralized Security 2.0 dolls all shook their heads helplessly.
They had woken up in Griffin since the moment they left the factory, and their names were only the names of the weapons IDWs in their hands.
Now that their fire control core had been removed, and Griffin's employment contract had been terminated, they were now completely ownerless.
"Alright, why don't you three come up with a name for yourselves? Anyway, get out of the stowage bin and wait here for a while while I get these two dolls started." Raising his hand and pointing at the two Butler-36 dolls that the Rippers had moved out from among the cargo crates, Renault said so.
Hearing Renault's words, P90 sighed helplessly.
It seemed that Commander Renault was determined to keep these three guys behind, but so what if he didn't? Is it hard to just kick the three of them out?
Or give them back to Universal Anything?
No matter how you think about it, there is no doll that can run away when it comes to Renault's hands.
And since this set of tactical dolls are all from Griffin, then this other two, with a face like G36 looks exactly the same, should also be from Griffin, right?
After all, G36's name is still very famous among G&K, and the G36 under Gentiane's command is even more shrewd and capable.
The same is true of their own G36; most of the things on the entire ship are well organized.
They really can't think of such an excellent doll for what reason would be returned.
However, Renault soon realized what was going on, because the moment the hatch cover of one of the dolls was opened, a strong smell of blood instantly came!
The doll that looked exactly like the G36 even jumped up directly from the stowage bin after opening its eyes!
A pair of hands were like knives heading straight for Renault's head!
As the palms of its hands gradually approached Renault, a piece of real blade directly spurted out from the other party's wrist, aimed at Renault's head!
"Tsk." Raising his hand to pinch this doll's arm, Renault was also speechlessly staggered.
No wonder it would be returned, this is clearly been modified, specially used for assassination, right?
Really, wherever you go, this kind of diaphragmatic thing will happen. And this smelly pungent of blood, it's not just because of her presence that oozes from being a doll kept being used as an assassination tool, it is because he can smell it literally.
The plane that had deviated from its course might have been trying to erase the evidence on that transport.
On the contrary, the other Butler-36 doll looked perfectly normal, and it seemed like it was being activated for the first time. "First time, from Universal Everything Service Company, Butler-36 type domestic service robot at your service. Please name me, master."
Erm, naming again... Hearing this, Renault also scratched his head with a headache.
He really wasn't very good at things like naming.
Thinking this way, Renault directly turned his head to look at the M1 Garand next to him.
"Ahem, commander, this kind of thing you'd better ask G36, I'm also not very good at naming..." M1 Garand somewhat awkwardly averted her eyes, obviously not going to give Renault a favor in this regard.
To be honest, M1 Garand actually wanted to change her name, but she had been thinking about it for a long time, and hadn't come up with any suitable name to come up with, so she just kept making do with it.
Now her commander is asking a name! She can't even decide hers!
"Alright, then I'll take them to the workroom first. Remember to notify G36 to come to the workroom after you guys put the stuff in storage."
Saying that, Renault also greeted the four dolls and walked towards the workroom.
As for why it was four instead of five, it was of course because the last one was being pinched and carried in Renault's hand.
He doesn't know if Scarecrow's side had finished, but it shouldn't have taken too long.
After all, there were more than just the Type 80s and PK and the nine of them waiting in line to replace their doll bodies.
There are also six of them, plus Alchemist and SOP2, that's eight.
It would be good enough for Scarecrow to finish now.
As soon as he arrived near the workroom, Renault heard Simonov's disgruntled grumble, "AR15! That leather seat of mine definitely something you'll pay with your wallet!"
"Well, it has nothing to do with me."
"How can it be unrelated! Didn't I get this silicified pieces on my face and body from you!"
Hearing Simonov's words, AR15 didn't feel any irritation at Simonov's pestering but instead pulled the corner of her mouth very happily.
There was nothing more pleasing than seeing other people suffering than her!
"Come on, don't argue in the workroom, the commander might just throw you out when he arrives. Is all the packing done over at the brewing workroom? You look like you've got a lot of time on your hands, don't you?" Scarecrow didn't have the heart to look at Simonov, the guy trying to blackmail money from AR15.
It's just a leather seat, and that seat is the same thing that the commander removed from the tank as well as the armored vehicle in the first place, it didn't cost a penny at all, so what are you guys arguing about here?
While several people were talking, Renault was also carrying a doll, while leading four dolls behind him into the workroom.
"How many of the bodies have been replaced already?"
"Now it's just short of Springfield's, but Springfield's neural core seems to have some damage, I was about to call you over."
"Damage? Well, I'll take a look at it later. For now, help think of a few names. These three unlucky ones were dismissed by Griffin, the one over here is a freshly shipped Butler-36, and as for the one I'm holding, it's probably an unlucky one that was used as a tool."
Renault shook the doll he was carrying in his hand. Even after being controlled by Renault, the doll was still struggling to try and get out.
However, the expression on its face was not quite the same as its own movements; it looked like it had already cried out, and the color in its eyes looked like it was completely broken.
Well, he'll know what's going on if he check it out later.
Chapter 131: Getting More and More Lively
"What the hell is this? Her body doesn't look much like a normal doll body either, and the skeletal structure in this... this has all been replaced with assassination weapons..." Reaching out to secure the figure to the workbench, Scarecrow said somewhat strangely.
This kind of doll structure, in which even the toes had been transformed into weapons, had never been found even in Sangvis Ferri Manufacturing.
"There's no need to dwell on these things. Let's remove these contraptions first and overhaul her neural cloud." Regardless of what exactly this doll had gone through, it had little to do with them. He was trying to see if he could fix her, and if he did, it would be workable.
After removing the doll's limbs in three tries, Renault directly took the computer, connected it with a data cable, and began to check the doll's mental condition.
The other Butler-36 that originally followed over, after seeing Renault partnering with Scarecrow, saw him dismantle her other 'companion' down to the body in no more than two strokes and could not help but subconsciously step back.
Next to the three IDWs... no, it is Security 2.0s. They all together shrunk their necks, looking around to find if there was any place to hide, fearing that Renault might turn back and put them all on the workbench to dismantle them into parts as well.
"Commander, what's... there? Hmm?" G36 walked in with a large tray, on which were some freshly baked desserts and a pot of black tea.
G36, who had only just walked in, caught a glimpse of Butler-36, who had turned back at the sound, and then took a look at the doll lying on the workbench, which also looked exactly like herself. They were obviously dolls of the same model.
"Well, you go ahead and take... first these three and the one that looks exactly like you to sit next to each other for a while, and while you're at it, have them think about their names."
G36 looked at the several dolls with half bewildered and half timid faces and waved them over, "Come sit over here."
Butler-36, who still somewhat didn't understand what was going on, probably saw her like her own and felt some affection in his heart, and subconsciously followed G36 to the table next to her and sat down.
The three Security2.0s were probably attracted by those snacks in G36's hands and subconsciously followed them.
By the time they came back to their senses, the snacks were already stuffed into their mouths.
......
"15, is there really no problem with you? You know that you came back with all of your bionic skin scrapped!" SOP2, who hadn't had her turn to replace her body yet, asked as she followed AR15 around, turning the chassis and facing AR15 with her front.
"No, it's all been checked, there's nothing out of the ordinary on the body's side, except for the bionic skin silicifying, and of course, even the engine that's tested this time." Cocking her neck, AR15 sighed as she touched her regained smooth skin.
She now had an exhaustive understanding of this doll body she was currently using...
In addition to the weight being far beyond of a normal doll body, this thing is not afraid of any electronic intrusion, does not fear electromagnetic attack, and heavy collapse radiation cannot affect this body. Now, coupled with this engine in her body that can maintain her actions for an unknown number of years...
Anyway, she couldn't think of any weaknesses at the moment. No wonder M16 was unilaterally pressed by HK416 before. It's not a gap that can be bridged by some combat experience.
As she thought, AR15 looked down and saw SOP2 skillfully chasing two Dinergates, as if she had completely integrated into Dinergates' playmate.
"It's you, I think you're quite suitable for this state. You've already started playing with the Dinergates."
"Huh? Ha! Speaking of Dinergates, that Alchemist guy is the one who's miserable! Her remote control has already passed through all the Rippers' hands! If she hadn't just been sent to recharge power, there might still be Rippers fiddling with her right now!"
"That's enough from you! Intruder! Are you a little doll that hasn't grown up! Is it that much fun!?"
SOP2 was chatting with AR15, but suddenly Alchemist's growl suddenly rang out in front of both of them.
"Well, it was fun! Especially to hear you growl in impotent rage when you're so furious but can't do anything about it! It's simply too much fun!" Intruder grinned, clutching the remote in her hand as she controlled Alchemist to spin in circles back and forth in the middle of the restaurant.
"Pfft!"
"Uh? AR15? Did you just laugh?"
"No, you misheard me."
"Yeah?"
AR15, who had forced herself to keep a straight face, skimmed her head, but in her heart, she suddenly began to worry about the situation of M4A1 and M16.
Griffin's side... the situation should not be optimistic...
Although she herself escaped, those Griffin's dolls and the two M4A1 members were still left in Griffin and did not leave. The Parapulei virus threat before she left had not been lifted.
Coupled with Sangvis Ferri having a lot more armored units, even if the military stopped them, she always felt that Griffin wouldn't be able to block so many armored units.
The military did not allow G&K to hold heavy weapons that could destroy armored units.
"Well, even Griffin's anonymous board hasn't been very lively in the past two days..." I don't know if it's because she's taken enough pictures or something else, but MDR is surprisingly honest at this point, contrary to AR15's expectations.
However, the words that MDR recited to herself under her breath made AR15 subconsciously frown.
While Griffin's anonymous board was also being used by human employees, it was more the tactical dolls among Griffin who were using the anonymous board as a feature.
The anonymous board becoming less lively... I'm afraid that Sangvis Ferri's side occupied a large part of the reason.
"That's true, we can't even find a few people online these days, and it takes a long time to get in line."
RFB also nodded approvingly. Although the situation on Griffin's side didn't have much to do with them, the thought that a number of those tactical dolls from Griffin had already fallen under the muzzles of Sangvis Ferri's armored units make her couldn't help but feel a little saddened.
"CF05, you're not supposed to be at the helm today, are you? I don't want to eat some hellish cauldron!"
"What ah! It's clearly just an ordinary hot pot! Why is it related to hell!"
Listening to the cacophonous shouts of the people in the restaurant, AR15 felt as if they had returned to Griffin. But unfortunately, what was underneath their feet was not Griffin's base, but Renault's airship.
"It always feels like this place is a bit more lively than Commander Gentiane's base. I wonder just how many dolls Commander Renault will have under his command in the future."
"Maybe the entire Griffin will be moved here... But won't you go back to the workroom to take a look now? I saw the Intruder take the Alchemist away. He should have gone to the workroom, so be careful of people switching to the new body before you do."
"That's not possible! Those wheels of Alchemist are clearly a toy car! How can it be faster than this off-road four-wheeled footgear of mine!?" SOP2 shouted loudly and directly charged out from the middle of the restaurant at full power.
Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Two: Where's Simonov?
"Cream!"
"Cookies!"
"Puffs!"
Watching the three identical Security 2.0 dolls in front of him raise their hands to introduce themselves, Renault instantly rubbed his brow with a bit of a headache.
"I asked you three to think about your names, not to report the names of of your favorite food."
Hearing Renault's words, the three Security 2.0s—Cream, Cookie, and Puff—had their ears droop down. They obviously thinked that Renault was a little dissatisfied with them.
"Commander, if it's a cat, it's quite common to come up with this kind of name." G36 raised her hand and stroked the heads of the three little ones, explaining to Renault.
"Cats... " Hearing G36 say that, Renault instantly remembered the cats that UMP40 and the girls had, especially UMP40's two, downright troublemakers...
"Well, I certainly don't have a problem with you guys calling them that if you like." Renault said, also turning his head to look at the two Butler-36s next to him, one intact and the other with original limbs that hid sharp objects that were replaced.
"What about you two? Any names come to mind?"
"Sophia..." Butler-36, who was previously normal, said somewhat uncertainly, confirming the expression on Renault's face as she did so.
"Hmm, pretty common name. What about you?"
"Yulia."
"Well, that's what you'll be called from now on then." Renault nodded and swept a glance over a few people, then realized there was a rather headache-inducing problem...
Regardless of whether it was the three on G36's side or these three cats next to them, they were almost identical in looks, and if they were all wearing the same attire, it would be almost difficult for an ordinary person to tell them apart.
However, dolls naturally can distinguish each other. He himself also had a special way of judging; although they looked exactly the same, the expressions on these guys' faces and their emotions had certain differences. As long as they didn't intentionally play tricks on him, he shouldn't have trouble recognizing them.
"G36, you first take them to make arrangements. MG42's doll frame change is finished, so let MG42 take PK and Type 80 girls to the ship to find their way around. Scarecrow, you go too. The rest of the things I'll do by myself."
"Okay."
As soon as G36 left with a group of dolls, the workroom that was on the verge of being overcrowded suddenly had only Renault himself. Well, there was also Springfield, who was in the middle of a neural cloud migration.
However, this guy's mind data migration still needed some time. If there was damage to the neural core, the speed of migrating data had to be a little slower. But it wasn't that much slower. In any case, it was quite a bit faster than the previous M3.
"Yo, Renault, I brought the Alchemist, and SOP2 is here too."
"If you didn't come, I was going to think you all didn't want to change your doll frame." Pouring a mouthful of already-cooled tea, Renault spoke while pointing to the three doll frames that had been molded next to him.
One of them was Springfield's, and the other two were Alchemist's and SOP2's.
As for Sophia, Yulia, and the three little ones who had named themselves after cats, Renault hadn't thought about replacing their bodies yet.
The cold Fusion engine on AR15 had satisfactory test results. The operating condition was very stable, with no accidents. If the next period goes well, he would give his dolls this kind of engine.
This would directly eliminate the need for them to recharge frequently, and in the future, they would be able to cope with more commissions under strange conditions.
"Commander! Hurry up! I can't wait!" SOP2 immediately rushed in front of Renault, circling around him.
Although this Prowler's body was indeed quite interesting and full of pain, in the end, it was still more comfortable to use the doll frame.
"Don't be in a hurry; it'll be your turn after Springfield's mind data is transferred." While saying this, Renault looked at the silent Alchemist, who had probably learned her lesson and was honestly standing aside, not daring to move...
Oh, she couldn't move by herself.
"Commander, do I need to transfer my mind data as well? Our AR squad's neural core is different from other dolls; it's hard to upload data." Hearing Renault's words, SOP2 couldn't help but ask with some concern.
"It's fine. AR15 transferred hers, and yours is the same. It's not that difficult; just be patient."
Hearing Renault say that, SOP2 also relaxed and found a place to stop, waiting for Springfield's side to transfer the data.
As for the Intruder, it seemed that this fellow didn't find it interesting to stand here at Renault's place, or she was worried that the Alchemist would find trouble with her after he got her body back, so she lifted her feet and ran away early.
Another half an hour passed, and Springfield's group finished replacing their doll frame. Renault did not leave them to stay longer, sending them to the ship to find other dolls.
Alchemist left especially fast, afraid that Renault might dismantle her again. She already knew how Renault cleaned up Executioner. Executioner with a new body was not a rival for Renault, so she naturally did not want to ask for more trouble.
Renault finally had time to calm down and calculate what to do next. He needed to prepare new energy engines for his dolls and produce a new type of strong material to replace the current heavy doll frame...
And...
Renault looked back at the dozen or so doll doll frame stacked in the middle of the workroom and sighed somewhat helplessly.
He still had to dismantle all of these bodies and send them to other equipment to be reprocessed...
There were still a lot of troubles.
......
"Puha! It's a pain in the ass! That's what it feels like to be alive!" Executioner carried the bottle of wine and violently poured a large gulp into her mouth.
"Yeah, nothing like a drink after a mission!" AK47 echoed.
"Speaking of which, how come we haven't seen that guy Simonov? Seems like we haven't seen her since we got back?"
A-91 craned her head to look at the brewing workroom, with no sign of Simonov.
"Oh, that guy, that seat on the gunship had silicone. She said she was going to the factory to make one herself. I don't know if she finished it last night, but it's been so long, she wouldn't have accidentally stuffed herself into a hot melting furnace, would she?"
"Well, that's possible too. Hey! Whatever! I'll probably be back in a few minutes when the craving for alcohol is over!"
Chapter 133 - Found You
"Simonov, what are you doing back and forth here?" P90 asked, scratching her head as she watched Simonov access the training device, exit it, and then take a small notebook to record something.
Simonov had called her over without explaining what she was doing, and now, a quarter of an hour had passed, and P90 found herself just watching Simonov go back and forth.
"Almost done! Just a little more!" Simonov said, taking off the data lines from her body and copying her notes to draw a series of diagrams.
"What's this?" P90 asked, frowning in confusion as she looked over Simonov's shoulder. The drawings were simple and easy to understand, and it only took P90 a couple of glances to realize what Simonov was trying to do.
"Isn't this just a seat? Is it hard to believe you went through all this just to design a seat?" P90 couldn't see any difference between the seat on the notepad and a normal seat.
"And what's with all this back and forth into the training device just to document the design of a seat? Wouldn't it be easier to use the doll's recording function?" P90 pointed out. Renault hadn't forbidden them from using the image recording function during simulation training. They could have just taken a picture and studied it later.
"Hey! You don't get to see the full view of the seat during driver training, and if you're distracted, you'll get killed. So, you don't have time to observe! But I memorized everything! Come on, P90, help me get a composite seat cover for my seat!"
"No problem. If the data you wrote down is correct, it can be done in no time. When do you need it?"
"In a little while! I'm going to get M1 Garand to help straighten out the main structure of the seat now!" Simonov said, rushing out with her notebook in hand, not noticing that she hadn't left any specific data for P90.
Fortunately, P90 had already written it down while looking at it. Otherwise, she would have had to run over there...
P90 shrugged. It wasn't a hassle anyway. Even if it was hand-sewn, it wouldn't take long. It was just a way to pass the time.
On the other side, M1 Garand, after getting the drawings from Simonov, was first stunned but then nodded. "It can be done, but the materials can't be exactly the same. Some composites will have to be replaced with metal."
"Good!" Simonov rubbed her hands together and smiled as she watched M1 Garand skillfully control the printing equipment in the middle of the factory.
In less than half an hour, Simonov was running toward the hangar, dragging a crate with the seat that had already been successfully printed.
Watching Simonov happily walk away, M1 Garand scratched her head. Although there was nothing wrong with the drawings Simonov brought, that thing looked like something that would be mounted on a similar looking single fighter jet.
And with that not-quite-right ejection device...
M1 Garand had never made this kind of thing before. Although she wanted to use a different color on those devices as a warning, Simonov was in a hurry and didn't give her the opportunity. As soon as it came off the printing device, Simonov took it and dragged it away.
"Simonov! The seat cover is ready for you here! Why don't you take your time?"
"Oh! Thanks! It's fine where it is! I'll put them on myself later."
Seeing Simonov burying her head in the middle of the cabin, P90 shrugged her shoulders, placed the seat cover at the door of the cabin, and slipped away in the direction of the restaurant.
What neither P90 nor Simonov noticed was that a small, dexterous figure slipped silently into the hangar, following the route P90 had just taken, and burrowed directly into the gunship's cabin.
......
"Every day it's a meal check and rest..." sighed M4A1 as she sat somewhat dejectedly beside M16.
"Hmm? Coo, isn't this nice? There's nothing going on left or right anyway, and I haven't heard any bad news lately." M16 was unaffected, eating and drinking as she should, seemingly completely unconcerned.
"Fair enough, but AR15 and the others..."
"Shhh!" Hearing that M4A1 seemed to be bringing up AR15 and SOP2, M16 hastily raised her finger and reminded her. AR15 and SOP2's behavior of breaking away from Griffin was an outright violation of the law, and this matter couldn't be casually leaked out without notification from Helianthus and Persica.
This converted nursing home human observation facility was full of surveillance equipment, and if they mentioned AR15 here, those Griffin technicians would be at their door in a few minutes.
"Eh, well, I don't know when we'll be able to get rid of the Parapulei Virus... It's not a solution to stay here all the time, is it?" M4A1 sighed with a bit of a headache. Even though she had only just arrived here a few days ago, she always felt a sense of uneasiness.
"I don't know. I heard that Persica's side isn't idle either, but it seems that Renault's side isn't affected by the Parapulei Virus at all, right? That guy must have something up his sleeve. If only Persica had gone straight to that guy." M16 spread her hands and said.
Although she knew that Griffin's technicians were unwilling to seek help from other security contractors on such an important issue, she felt that if they could get the technology that could protect against the Parapulei Virus from Renault, it wouldn't matter if they had to spend a little extra money and lose a little face.
It's just that she didn't know if Griffin's upper echelon was willing to do this or not...
"Miss M4, today's free time is almost coming to an end. If possible, please return as soon as possible..."
"M45? Okay, we got it." Hearing this voice from the middle of the broadcast, M4A1 looked up at the camera and nodded.
"By the way, M45, can you ask when I can get my personal items back?" M16 suddenly asked. As several days had passed, it was the right time to ask if they could get back the cell phone that Renault had given them and call AR15 and the others to ask about their current situation.
"Hey? Personal items, at the end of the observation period... ah, please wait, there is an external communication here." M45, who heard M16's words, was about to refuse when she realized that there was suddenly a communication from Griffin Headquarters in the monitoring room.
M45, who subconsciously connected the communication, didn't hear any orders from Griffin HQ, nor did she see any familiar personnel. The originally normal communication device instantly turned into a snowflake!
A somewhat bizarre sounding voice also rang out!
"Found you guys."
"Hey? Isn't it Ms. Helianthus?" M45 stared blankly and asked back in a somewhat strange manner.
"...M4A1, you're really here."
Chapter 134 What Is This Button Again?
"Who are you! Show your face!" As soon as M16A1 heard the other party suddenly mention M4A1, her heart thumped, and sbe directly opened her mouth and shouted towards the other party!
"Go, M4A1 is there, the others... We do not need."
But the voice on the opposite side of the communication apparently did not respond to the meaning of M16; the other side of the wood said.
As for the meaning of the other party's words...
M4A1 also immediately responded!
This sanatorium-transformed doll guardhouse facility cannot be said to be very complete in terms of weapons and defenses. M45 in the monitoring center also serves the function of the communication center, and if the other side is really Sangvis Ferri then... the first to attack...
"M45! Quickly dodge! It's..."
Boom!
Before M4A1's words were finished, a loud boom sounded directly from the ears of a group of shapes!
"Yikes!"
......
"Encrypted communication?" Gentiane, who was sitting in the middle of the combat command room and directing her dolls to clear out the local Sangvis Ferri attack, suddenly noticed an unidentified encrypted communication on the console.
If it was a general order, the headquarters wouldn't use encrypted communication, and the one who used encrypted communication a lot lately... wouldn't be that guy again, would it? Moreover, Sangvis Ferri's attack has been getting more and more fierce lately, and just now her echelon was attacked by artillery fire again.
If this continues, I'm afraid that it won't be long before the situation in Sector S09 will be repeated yesterday.
Of course, I still have to answer, what if this communication is from Helianthus on the other side? If she did not answer the communication of the top boss? Does she still want to keep her job?
"Long time no see, Commander Gentiane, it's me, Persica from 16lab." Craning her neck, Persica stirred her coffee-stained mug with one hand while squinting to note the status of the communication on the encrypted channel.
"Eh, it's been a long time, Ms. Persica, but it's a bit unfortunate that we're slightly busy over here, for small talk..."
"Not small talk, oh, the situation is urgent, so I'll make it short. The Sangvis Ferri side has launched an attack on the sanatorium..."
"Attack!?"
"Yes, let me finish first, ah. Our side has confirmed the location of the Sangvis Ferri communication station arrangement. Your side had better hurry up and go to end that thing; the coordinates I have already sent over through the encrypted channel. My side has also found you a helper to assist you; the rest of the matter depends on you."
Listening to Persica's somewhat hurried words, Gentiane's face sank. Although she didn't know why Persica, the researcher, seemed to be better informed than Griffin, but just like Persica said, if that communication station wasn't knocked out as soon as possible...
Not only the doll guardhouse where M4A1 was located, but even the base of the sector where she herself was located had the possibility of being taken down by Sangvis Ferri in one fell swoop.
And just after Persica's communication hung up, Helian's influence came as expected, still with that expressionless look, but Gentiane was able to see the same eagerness in the other party's eyes.
"Commander Gentiane, emergency situation, the communication on the guardhouse side has been cut off, the symptoms are exactly the same as the situation of the last time [Parapulei Plan]. A large number of Sangvis Ferris are launching an attack towards the guardhouse, but the situation on the guardhouse side is not yet known, so please eliminate those Sangvis Ferris on the periphery as much as possible!"
"Understood, I've got it, and I'll immediately arrange for free dolls to strike."
"Understood? Is it Persica?"
"Uh, yes."
"Well, that's nothing then. Most of Griffin's current comm tech upgrades came from Persica. It's not much of a surprise that she would know ahead of time." Even the AR squad was lent to Griffin by 16lab for testing, and some of the tech on the comm tech side certainly had Persica's credit in it.
Helian cut off the comms after saying this, and it was clear that nothing was going on on Helian's end either.
Compared to S05, a base that was closer to the security zone, Helian was also in charge of several other areas, and the defense of S09, a job that was originally supposed to be the responsibility of Gentiane and her commanders, naturally fell on Helianthus' head.
Of course, there were still other commanders under Helian's hand, but the Sangvis Ferris that the S09 district was facing right now were mostly Sangvis Ferri armored units, and just the fact that bullets couldn't penetrate the armor plates and such a thing was enough for Helian to have a headache.
"Ugh." Looking at the communication that had already hung up, Gentiane sighed, and then placed her gaze on the map in the middle of the combat command room.
And the doll next to her who had connected to Gentiane's command room through the normal combat communication channel, after seeing that Gentiane didn't seem to notice herself, she hurriedly opened her mouth and said,
"Hello sir, I am the newly developed tactical doll of 16LAB, code name RO635."
Gentiane, who heard this voice, raised her head in some surprise and looked at the doll in front of her.
......
"Hmph hmph hmph!" Humming a little tune in a happy mood, Simonov carefully tightened the last screw and shook the base of the seat with her hand, confirming that there was no sign of activity, and then nodded her head in satisfaction.
"I'm such a genius! Heh heh! If we install a seat today, we might be able to save a flying machine with our own hands tomorrow!" Tossing the wrench in his hand into the toolbox, Simonov turned right back on the seat.
Then she stretched her body with relief, and after feeling that the seat didn't have the slightest sign of collapsing, she just spread out in the middle of the seat.
"Comfortable! Although the leather seat is gone, it's really more reassuring to have a solid seat that doesn't have to worry about collapsing." Simonov said somewhat lazily. If it wasn't for Reno's strict order forbidding her to drink in the driver's seat, she might be here right now to have a drink with some pickles and bread.
"Meow!"
"Oh ya? When did you little guy get here? Actually kept watching me work from the side without making a sound?" Hearing the sudden sound of a cat's meow, Simonov turned her head in some surprise, and with a glance, she saw one of UMP40's civet cats squatting at her feet, tilting her head and looking at herself.
Subconsciously wanting to raise her hand to touch the cat's head, Simonov just stretched out her hand, but the result was that this little guy tilted her head to avoid it.
Just kidding, how could she let you touch it when her hands were full of the smell of oil?
"Hey! Quite a temper!" Seeing that the other party dodged away, Simonov didn't care, but once she thought that this troublemaker was here, Simonov turned she head back with some worry and looked at the rear gunner's seat and those buttons on the co-pilot's console.
As expected, those buttons were all messed up by this troublemaker. If not for the fact that the gunboat wasn't activated at all, she might have been blown up into the sky by this little troublemaker!
"Hey! You little devil! You're messing with me while I'm not paying attention, aren't you?" Seeing that a large area of dozens or hundreds of buttons were all disrupted, Simonov was also a bit annoyed and was about to move her hand to drive this mischievous brat out of the room when she realized that this little guy's gaze seemed to be fixated on something on her seat.
"This? What's the function of this button again?"
Chapter 135 - Cat's Paw Prints in the Corridor
"Hey! Kohana! Where did you run off to!?" UMP40 grumbled with some concern as she grabbed the civet cat that had snuck in, but then she smelled the motor oil coming from the civet cat.
"Really, where on earth did you go to rub all that oil on you! I thought I told you not to run around the ship! It's a good thing the commander closed the quarantine door earlier; otherwise, what if you ran into the cargo hold and got hurt while in the polluted area!"
UMP40, who was holding up the civet cat, shook her head helplessly.
It was clear that she had given the little guy a bath only a few hours ago, and now it looked like she was going to have to do it all over again.
"UMP40, is it still possible to keep cats on Commander Renault's ship?"
"Hey? Why do you ask that? Is there anything wrong with keeping cats?" UMP40 sniffed and looked at the inquiring Stg-44 beside her, noticing the other party's look of wanting to pet Kohana but worrying that the stains on Kohana's body would rub off on her sleeve.
"No, it's not that. It's just that when I was in Griffin before, the managers and the commanders over there didn't allow it. I thought all the commanders didn't allow it..."
She did ask some of the other dolls under the commanders, but the answers she got were mostly the same.
Although the salary of a doll was more than enough to cover the expenses of raising a pet, raising a pet in one of Griffin's bases was not a simple matter. Some bases that had incubation rooms were fine, and pets could be raised in them.
But if not, those dolls need to make sure that those little animals will not run around freely. The dolls cannot stay in the base every day and not go out. Unlike dolls, pets cannot be hidden, just managing them is a headache.
Stg-44 also did not expect that on Renault's large airship, the management requirements would be more stringent than those at the Griffin base on the ground. But surprisingly, Renault seems to have no restrictions at all for pets.
"Well, Commander Renault did not say anything about this aspect, but I do think that the commander must also like these little guys. After all, there are a lot of places where the commander has deliberately left cat holes."
"Like huh?"
Looking at the little guy in UMP40's hand, Stg-44 couldn't help but fall into deep thought, somewhat expectantly imagining what kind of pet she would have in the future.
Type 80 from before, as well as PK and the others, had now all spread out, each going off to do what they wanted to do. But most of them were still like Stg-44, finding a doll that they felt good about talking to, and inquiring more about Renault and this ship.
Of course, there were those who didn't find anyone to ask, like M500 and Super-Shorty, who were currently on their 'adventure' together.
"M500, this ship is really too big. Is it not good for us to just wander around like this, right?" Super-Shorty asked somewhat worriedly towards M500, who was walking ahead.
"Hey? Can't we? Didn't Commander Renault say earlier that we could move around freely on the ship?" M500 didn't doubt the truthfulness of Renault's words at all.
Since Renault had already said that, it shouldn't be a problem for her to casually turn around, right? And...
"That said, but we've only just come to Commander Renault's side. It's better to be a little more careful. Let's hurry back now. We haven't finished cleaning up the dormitory side yet."
Super-Shorty tugged on the hem of M500's jacket and turned her head to look around.
As a result, she tilted her head in confusion.
Just now, she was focusing on persuading M500, and she didn't even notice where she had walked to.
Now, when she looked, no matter whether it was in front of her, behind her, or in the direction of the left or right, all of them were unfamiliar halls.
"M500, did we come from over there?"
"Eh, actually, I don't know. I just wanted to say... Uhhh do you recognize the way back?"
Hearing M500's words, the two immediately froze in place wide-eyed.
The big grinning M500 didn't think to look up at all, and Super-Shorty, whose height wasn't high at all, didn't even think to get up and tilt her head...
They completely ignored the road signs posted on the high ground...
The surrounding area wasn't empty, though. At the very least, there was a Ripper with a vacuum cleaner standing around the corner not far away, seemingly talking to someone else about something.
"Nah, Super-Shorty, how about we go ask that Ripper?"
"Hey? But..."
Although Renault had already repeatedly declared that the Rippers in the airship were all their companions, they were still skeptical about the Sangvis Ferri dolls, after all they just fought them days ago. Now, they found that these Rippers, which would have killed them one by one, were just cleaning the corridors as if they were ordinary cleaner dolls...
It is not something that can be easily accepted in a moment...
"There's nothing else to do now! I'm going!" M500 slapped her cheeks to ease her nerves and bravely walked towards the Ripper over there.
But just as she got closer, she heard a rather familiar voice, "Hmmmmm, is it okay to just make routine rounds once a day? I'll peek at the supplies and then do the cleanup afterward, hmmmmm!"
"But this side of the ground floor is alright. After all, not many people usually come over. The most headache-inducing part is the farm side, which needs to be cleaned frequently every day. Occasionally, you can still encounter a situation where the animals inside rush out!" The Ripper raised a finger towards the doll in front of her and said, this could be all from her experience.
Hearing the voice, M500 curiously poked out half of her body from the corner, and then glanced at the doll that was discussing the problems of cleaning work with the Ripper.
"M1897!!! What are you doing here! Great!"
"Welp! Ah!"
When M500 suddenly shouted, both the Ripper and M1897 were startled and almost jumped up from the ground.
"M500, why are you here?" M1897, who came back to her senses, also frowned in dissatisfaction. This guy almost scared her to the death!
The Ripper also glared at her with some annoyance after seeing that it was M500, who had just scared her so much that she almost swung the vacuum cleaner in her hand as a weapon!
"Hey, hey, sorry! Sorry! This, Super-Shorty and I are a little lost, could you point us in the right direction?" Seeing that both of them were glaring angrily at her, M500 hurriedly clasped her palms and apologized.
"Lost? How could you get lost? Isn't there a road sign up here?" Upon hearing this, M1897 and the Ripper exchanged a glance, and then raised their fingers to point to a position a little higher up on the wall of the passageway.
A clear signpost, '1F Power Zone', next to it were signposts pointing to other areas and elevators.
"Eh... ah this..."
The M500 duo, who saw the road sign, scratched their heads awkwardly.
"Let's go. It just so happens that this side has already been checked. The elevator is over there; let me take you there." The Ripper also waved her hand and said so, intending to lead several people to the nearest elevator, "Huh? Why is there a bunch of cat paw prints here? It clearly wasn't here just now."
Chapter 136 - You Have Your Day, Too!
"Oh oh! Murder scene! All of you, stand up straight! Now you are all suspects!" M870 appeared out of nowhere, smiling as she stood behind M500 and Super-Shorty.
"M870! When did you come over? And are you feeling better now?" Super-Shorty, startled by M870's sudden voice, turned around to look at her. M870's face no longer grim, and Super-Shorty sighed in relief.
"When you guys were passing the elevator entrance, I was just coming over to the cargo bay to take a look around. But I didn't expect to see this. What happened here? Who's stuck in that seat?"
M870 shrugged. Although she initially had trouble figuring it out, she soon realized that her neural core was already damaged during her time in Griffin, rendering it almost useless..
"So although I need to join Renault's team, at least I get to keep my life. What else can I say?"
Both of them gazed at the masterpiece at the ceiling of the gunship, still baffled on who was stuck on it.
"Looking at the style of clothing... I can't tell yet. Commander Renault's dolls have long since stopped wearing the original prescribed clothing for Griffin's dolls," M500 scratched her head and said. She couldn't recognize who this was.
"It's Simonov," the Ripper who had picked up the vacuum cleaner he had dropped, said at that moment.
Although she had not watched Simonov enter the hangar, she was not a newcomer. Among the dolls in Commander Renault's house, the only ones able to pilot a gunship were Simonov, SPAS-12, and UMP45.
UMP45 was resting in her dormitory, and SPAS-12 was definitely eating in the dining room at this moment, so the only one who could appear here was Simonov.
And you could tell by looking at the body type. SPAS-12 was a bit more rounded, while the doll in front of him, stuck on top of the gunship along with the driver's seat, looked a bit thinner.
"Stop analyzing and get me down! I can't even use my strength in this position!" It didn't take long for the Ripper's words to fall before Simonov screamed out loudly.
This Ripper! Although she didn't directly speak out, talking on a doll's public communication channel made it obvious who she was! What exactly was there to brag about in this matter!
Hearing Simonov's annoyed growl, the M500 and M870 members immediately looked at each other in dismay, not expecting this at all.
Although they were somewhat surprised by the active level of thinking of the Rippers on Renault's side, this Simonov guy, who could clearly speak and use the doll's communication channel, kept getting stuck without moving.
"Wait--! I-! Down--!" Just as a few people were puzzled, a hefty shout resounded directly from the direction of the hangar's entrance!
"Hurry! Hurry up! Pull me up!?" As soon as she heard this voice, Simonov instantly stopped pretending to be dead. Her entire body suddenly struggled frantically as if she had a stroke, attempting to escape from this 'cage' she had made with her own hands!
However, the Ripper had no intention of rushing forward. She knew the weight of the dolls under Renault's command. These dolls did not pay attention to the floor and other things that she, as a Ripper, would have to help repair.
Don't look at Simonov's small movements. If rashly approached, getting a kick from her could be fatal.
As fo M500's team, they didn't know what to do. They wanted to help over, but when they saw the Ripper waving her hand frantically, they stopped their movements.
A few seconds passed, MDR, who had just entered the hangar, rushed into the middle of the gunship's cabin, her cell phone held high in her hand.
"Never miss a precious moment of excitement! This is the creed of my human life, ahem, doll life! Ahahahahaha! Simonov! Congratulations! You're the second doll since G36 to test the sturdiness of the roof with your head!"
CLICK! Click!
First, there was a series of continuous shots, and then MDR came right up to Simonov's feet and took thorough pictures of Simonov's embarrassing behavior from all angles.
"Damn it, MDR, why did you guys come so fast? It's only been a few minutes!" Hearing the sound of MDR's cell phone, Simonov shouted in a somewhat devastated manner.
She hadn't struggled hard because she was worried about breaking some of the pipelines on top of the gunboat with her movements, and she was worried about making too much noise and attracting MDR!
Now it's all ruined! Blame that Ripper! Reason all you want, but why repeat it on the public communication channel!
"Heh heh! You don't know, but I'm a close strategic partner with the Rippers at home! What a pleasant surprise! I thought M3's pictures of the girls this time would be enough to stock up for several days, but I didn't realize that you, Simonov, would take such good care of my business! Thank you so much!"
MDR said as she fumbled for a selfie stick, fixed her cell phone on it, and pulled the Ripper beside her. The two took a selfie together using Simonov's hanging bacon look as a background.
"Nice working together!" After the photo was taken, they reached out and shook hands together. MDR even fished out a handful of bills from her pocket and handed them to the Ripper without pointing them out.
Click!
Just what MDR didn't expect was that at the same time she handed over the money, a crisp shutter sound also sounded directly beside her.
"Well, I'll make a post, too, and the title will be 'The Unknown Deal Between MDR and the Ripper.'"
Hearing this, MDR turned her head in a daze, and with a glance, she saw that M870 was writing something on her cell phone. As M870 pressed the send button, MDR's cell phone vibrated, notifying her of a new post on the anonymous page.
Hmm? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?
"Ahahahahahaha! I can't believe it, MDR! You have a day when you're photographed as posting fodder! Ahahahahaha!" Hearing M870's words, Simonov lifted her calves in joy.
However, probably because the movement was too large, Simonov's toe kicked directly towards a display in front of the cockpit.
Snap!
Quiet.
"That... me, I think I kicked something? Right?" Hearing the shattering sound, Simonov stiffened.
Click-click-click! No one responded to Simonov. Instead, there was a succession of shutter sounds, accompanied by MDR's somewhat depressed chanting, "Record, record, record, this is important evidence that Simonov damaged the gunship."
Chapter 137 - Something's Wrong with This Commander, Isn't It?
Sector S05.
"Hey! Gentiane! You're the commander! Don't rush out so fast!" Seeing Gentiane charging straight out without an exoskeleton, a few of Griffin's human employees immediately shouted in alarm.
So many dolls are counting on this guy to command them! Why you, a human, think you're a doll? And how on earth did this guy run so fast?
"Calm down! Humans only live once!"
Several human Griffin employees hurriedly put on their exoskeletons and shouted while chasing after Gentiane along the route she rushed out.
Ahead of them was the Griffin guardhouse codenamed 'Princess Mario' in the middle of S05. Quite a few gunshots could still be heard sporadically over there, and it was clear that there were still quite a few remnants of Sangvis that hadn't been cleared out.
If they recklessly rushed over like this, they were very likely to be attacked and suffer casualties!
"There's no time! There's an Sangvis Ringleader unit that's already rushed into the guardhouse. Absolutely nothing can happen to the remaining members of AR Squad!" Gentiane, hearing the shouts behind her, subconsciously responded.
However, she herself was also a bit bewildered by her own behavior. Although she was indeed very anxious, she had never felt the urge to act so impulsively before.
Not only was she impulsive, but her mobility... When had her physical fitness been so good?
Wearing more than ten kilograms of heavy equipment all over her body and holding a few kilograms of heavy weapons in her hand... she could actually run so fast? It seemed like she hadn't been exercising much lately, right?
The questioning of her own physical condition only lasted for a moment because Gentiane was already able to see those Sangvis dolls in the distance!
And the few Griffin dolls that rushed ahead of her had already raised their guns and attacked those dolls besieging the guardhouse!
However, just as Gentiane's side launched an attack towards Sangvis, an ear-piercing scream resounded directly from inside the guardhouse!
The shrill scream could be heard clearly even from a few hundred meters away, in the middle of this battlefield where gunfire was incessant!
This sound! It's M4A1! Is it possible that they're too late?
"You guys! Continue advancing in this direction! We'll enter the guardhouse directly from this side!"
Hearing Gentiane's order, G36, AUG, and a few other dolls directly answered. They were still a little worried about Gentiane's condition, although they had the intention to discourage her. But Gentiane had already said so... And there were so many human combatants...
I'm sure it's not a problem, right?
While the AUG girls were attacking Sangvis from another direction, Gentiane also directly rushed into the guardhouse from the back with her team.
Because the guardhouse had lost power, coupled with Sangvis's strong interference, the security facilities in the guardhouse had all failed. The high-level privileges specially approved by Helian were also useless. But this was convenient for Gentiane and the others, as they didn't have to face those security doors that still needed to be verified one by one, saving a lot of time.
"RO, what's the situation now? RO, RO635?" While running forward, Gentiane tried to contact RO635, who was the first to come over to support her. But her communication seemed like a stone sinking into the sea, without any response.
Gentiane, who didn't get a response, furrowed her brows tightly and gritted her teeth in some annoyance.
Earlier in Sector S08, those armored units of Sangvis had come almost out of nowhere, and it didn't take long to beat Griffin's echelon to a standstill.
Having suffered such a big loss, Gentiane was also on alert this time. After all, one couldn't always fall head over heels in front of a pit.
But Sangvis has technology in its hands that can interfere with Griffin's communications, plus the Parapulei Virus... sometimes even raising vigilance doesn't seem to be very effective.
Just like now... obviously, she had let the dolls work overtime to patrol among the precincts, but these Sangvis units still crossed her defense line without her knowing it, appearing in the hinterland of the guardhouse.
Even in her unknowing situation, in the area where the valley is located, they set up an artillery position...
In comparison, Griffin's side was as if they were blind! But the opposite side, the Sangvis, was as if cheating, knowing their whereabouts and actions like the back of their hand!
Griffin's electronic warfare level is really too bad... Sangvis's elite dolls almost all know how to suppress Griffin's communication network, while Griffin's dolls don't have electronic warfare capabilities that can match Sangvis's elite dolls.
Tsk! The military's restriction is really troublesome!
The military restricted the upper limit of Griffin doll's electronic warfare capabilities, but Sangvis didn't have such scruples. This was probably the main reason why Sangvis could still fight with the military's dolls right now.
"Zira... but I can neutralize the signals you used to clog the doll's mind... da da da da da!"
Just as Gentiane bore forward, her communicator suddenly rang! RO635's voice, accompanied by the sound of gunfire, rang out.
The ear-piercing sound of gunshots rang out from Gentiane's headset, sounding as if they were being fired at RO635's side. But the sound of M16 gunshots meant that the AR team should be fine, right?
"RO635! What's the situation now?"
Gentiane kept running, because in addition to the gunfire in the communicator, she heard gunfire coming from the corridor in front of her!
"Commander Gentiane! Your position! This is too risky!" RO635, who hadn't expected to hear Gentiane's voice within this signal shielding zone, exclaimed in shock, but her hands didn't stop, constantly attacking the opposite Sangvis!
However, the strength of the opponent's stance shield had far exceeded her expectations. Even though all the dolls present were firing, they still failed to penetrate the opponent's Force Shield!
RO635 only said this sentence, then focused on the Sangvis Mastermind in front of her. The reality of the situation did not allow her to split her attention to communicate with Gentiane. Just suppressing the enemy's mind-blocking signal was already giving her a headache!
However, Gentiane's side was not without help. M45 in the monitoring room also contacted Gentiane.
"Commander Gentiane! According to Miss M4A1's previous plan, if they lose their position, they will retreat to the underground air defense facility!"
"Air defense facilities? Hasn't the base already lost power... emergency facilities. What's the situation on M4A1's side?"
"They encountered an Sangvis unit that could possibly be the Sangvis High Command Center. The enemy is not carrying any weapons, but the doll was equally unable to penetrate the enemy's stance shield."
"Roger that. RO635, you heard her, prepare to fall back!"
Chapter 138 - The Situation Has Changed
"Sorry, Commander Gentiane, not yet. M4A1 is still in that guy's hands! And it's best if you don't get close! The combat power of this Sangvis doll is not something a human can handle!"
Hearing Gentiane's words, RO635 gritted her teeth. Supporting the guardhouse was indeed her mission, but more importantly, it was to ensure the safety of the remaining members of the AR squad. Now that M4A1 was still in the hands of that Sangvis... she absolutely couldn't retreat!
"Tsk! Aiming at M4A1 again? What exactly do those Sangvis want to find from M4A1? RO, you guys try your best to stall that guy! I'll make a slight detour from this side."
"Huh? Wait..! Wait! Commander Gentiane! What are you doing!?"
There was no response.
"Cut! Don't make trouble at a time like this! Have a little bit of self-awareness as a commander, will you!?" Looking at the location of the Griffin units reflected in her mind, RO635 could clearly see that Gentiane had directly shaken off the Griffin employees behind her and rushed towards their location from another direction where there were still quite a few Sangvis present!
This is so messed up! What the hell is going on here? Didn't Persica say that Commander Gentiane was a good commander? Why is she doing something so irrational now?
They can't even deal with the Sangvis Ringleaders! What do you hope to achieve by rushing over there as a human?
Facing RO635's question, Gentiane did not respond. This was not the time to explain these things!
One hour ago.
"Commander Gentiane, what's the status of the Sangvis's artillery positions?" Helian's expressionless face reappeared on the communication device.
Although Helian usually had this same collapsed expression, Gentiane could clearly tell that this time Helian's expression was not quite the same as usual. Her brows were slightly furrowed, indicating that some unexpected situation had occurred.
"The artillery positions have been basically suppressed. Only a smattering of Sangvis are still resisting, but we haven't found any traces of Sangvis advanced dolls. It will take a little more time before..."
"There's no time left. The situation has changed. You must immediately lead your team to the guardhouse position and assist the guardhouse dolls in repelling and clearing out all the Sangvis dolls as soon as possible!"
Hearing Helian's decisive tone, Gentiane also frowned strangely. Since taking office, she had never heard Helian give orders in such a tone.
"Is something wrong?"
"The military that is fighting with Sangvis in Sector S08 has suddenly detached a company of mechanized troops towards Sector S05. They are expected to reach the vicinity of the caretaker's house in Sector S05 in about two hours!"
"Hm? Could it be that the military is going to support us?" Hearing this, Gentiane was also stunned.
If it was military support, then it shouldn't be a bad thing for them, right? Most of the jobs Griffin is contracted to do now are taken from the Security Bureau and the military.
"It would be great if it really was support, but unfortunately it's not." Saying this, Helian also frowned. Thinking of her own boss's orders, Helian sighed helplessly.
"When we were in Sector S08 before, those mechanical units of the military seemed to consciously want to encircle the members of AR Squad. I'm afraid that those troops moving towards the caretaker's center this time are aiming for the same purpose."
If the military really wanted to support Griffin, they wouldn't have sent people directly into the sector Griffin was in charge of without saying a word. Although this area was originally a job commissioned by the military, the other party's actions were clearly out of order!
Griffin simply does not have the ability to limit the military. As long as they find some charges or a scapegoat, they can put the blame on Griffin, and Griffin can only grit their teeth and bear it.
"What exactly is it about this AR squad that makes the military act like this?"
"This you have to ask the boss or Persica. Act as soon as possible. Our time is limited. As long as we can quell the Sangvis attack before those troops arrive, we'll have an excuse to block the military. Even if we can't push them back, at least we'll have a legitimate excuse to ensure Griffin won't be taken advantage of."
After saying that, Helian cut off the communication with a furrowed brow.
When exactly did this start? The situation seemed to be completely out of Griffin's control without him realizing it.
If they continued to let Sangvis fight so recklessly, they would not only face a loss of credibility and business but also accountability from both the military and the Security Bureau.
After all, the loss of the entire S08 district was already an indisputable fact...
Back to the present.
Gentiane sprinted forward along the corridor while checking the equipment and ammunition she was carrying.
Probably taking inspiration from Renault, Gentiane had also installed under-mounted grenade launchers on her own guns. She had Grenna specially order them, specifically for graphite bombs to deal with dolls and electromagnetic bombs to paralyze mechanical units.
Since they weren't mass-marketed and hadn't been counted among the offending equipment, plus the fact that these contraptions weren't bought from regular channels, the IOP wouldn't blatantly sell her such things.
"Learn from your mistakes." After checking her equipment, Gentiane mumbled. The behavior of Scarecrow who directly blew herself up in the beginning really frustrated her.
Although in the end, the person was directly taken by Renault, without Renault, what they could have gotten would have been nothing more than the completely blown-up and ruined remains of the Sangvis doll.
"G36, AUG, what's the situation on your side?"
"Basically suppressed. The remaining Sangvis units will take another two minutes to clear out." G36 looked at the still recalcitrant Sangvis dolls not far away and fired while responding to Gentiane's question.
"There's been a change in plan. Enter the building facility through the entrance of Area C. After I hang up my comms, all of you shut down your comms and go completely silent. No one is allowed to turn on the comms system unless ordered by me personally and in person. Is that understood?"
"Understood." G36 and AUG both responded in unison, then gestured towards the dolls in their respective echelons behind them.
After the words were spoken, there was silence amongst Gentiane's comms. She herself closed all communication channels, even removing the holographic eyes she had been wearing on her face, and directly replacing them with an old-fashioned, generally monocular night vision device.
"Hopefully these two tricks I learned from Renault's side will come in handy... otherwise, I'm a complete idiot..."
Chapter 139: Going on Like This...
"Ah, still not many replies. Where's Griffin's doll gone?" Looking at the few replies at the bottom of his post, MDR put away his phone in boredom and watched Renault over there as he used his tools to remove the top armor plate of the gunship and lower the Simonov guy down.
"Well, there are quite a few people on my side. I didn't think anyone would actually read my first post." M870 didn't think anything of it, even though there were only three replies to the post. But three people are already a lot, right?
"Ah? A lot?" Hearing M870's words, MDR instantly inclined her head to take a look with some disbelief.
After seeing those few replies below, she instantly skimmed her mouth in speechlessness.
"It's obviously only three replies, one of them is me, the other is Griffin's MDR, and the remaining one, although we don't know who it is, people are obviously just coming over here to water-post, okay?"
"Well, it doesn't matter. If it's not there, then it's not there. But why did you come here to reply?"
"By the way, I saved that picture and put it in the album."
"Album?"
"Ah, everyone has one. Wait, I'll bring you the new album tomorrow."
With the newcomers this time, the photos in the album needed to be updated, and making new albums for a few of M870's people was just the right time to send out the new photos to the others.
MDR was still somewhat happy about this album. Although she wasn't as excited as she was in the beginning, it was good to have such a thing to preserve past memories.
Hearing MDR's words, M870 still wanted to ask something, but MDR beside her had already scurried out once again, her cell phone held high in her hand, striving to capture all of Simonov's foolishness on film!
"Can't you even think when you're restoring a seat? You even copied the ejection mechanism together. It's purely deserved that you got yourself into this state," Renault said to Simonov, whose cheek and a large chunk of her scalp had been scratched in front of him.
This guy, when replicating the Ghost Fighter seat, had actually restored it one-to-one in its entirety. This was indeed nothing for a doll, but this guy just wasn't willing to use her brain more to remove the ejection mechanism from the seat.
Originally, the ejection device switch on the Ghost Fighter's seat was protected by an obvious cover, but sometimes, due to the carelessness of the maintenance staff or the habits of the pilot himself, that cover would be removed outright.
Of course, doing so is a complete violation of driving protocols, but it's just an act that pilots do in order not to be in a crisis situation because they don't have the strength to move the protective shell.
However, this kind of behavior, in a single person's cockpit, was not too much of a problem, because there was only the pilot himself in the cockpit, and there was no need to worry about accidentally touching the switch.
But putting it in the gunship is not suitable... and gunships do not install ejection seats. Renault modified this gunship the same way: the top of the cockpit is just a layer of accommodation for various wiring equipment and the bulkhead, with the top being a few layers of conforming armor plate.
Simonov, just now, had rooted herself into the composite armor layer. This guy is a doll, with her modified body. Otherwise, if it were an ordinary human or doll, they would have ended up as a mess of flesh or doll parts.
"Eh..." Hearing Renault's rebuke, Simonov instantly lowered her head in aggravation and couldn't say anything.
"Okay, leave the gunship for now. In this state, it won't be repairable for a few hours." Saying that, Renault directly grabbed Simonov, intending to take this guy to the workroom for an overhaul.
As for the dolls that had gathered here before, one by one, seeing that there was no more action to watch, they also dispersed.
"It's really an incredible place. After we stirred up trouble at Griffin Base, it seems that all the other dolls came to help, right?"
"Eh, that's probably because Griffin's commanders are all busy, right?"
M500 and M1897 said this, but Super-Shorty was thinking about their current body weight.
"That's not the point, is it? Commander Renault just lifted Simonov straight up! Still with one hand!"
"Right! More than five hundred pounds is almost six hundred kilograms! Commander Renault isn't human, is he?"
Renault, who had not yet boarded the elevator at the front, of course, heard these words, and immediately pulled the corners of his mouth in a somewhat speechless manner.
How to say it, in a sense, there didn't seem to be anything wrong with their words.
"Oh? Commander? This is Simonov?" Springfield, who had just finished replacing her body, had only just gotten out of the repair pod and dressed when she saw Renault walk in carrying Simonov.
"Well, this idiot was ejected by the ejection mechanism, and her entire body nearly crashed through the top armor plate of the gunship. So I'm bringing her here for an overhaul." Renault nodded and said, but even though it was an overhaul, in fact, Renault had already almost understood Simonov's injuries.
The doll body was still fine; at most, the part of the skull was slightly cratered. Apart from being slightly unsightly, there wasn't any major problem.
He had mentioned this guy earlier just to avoid her having damage to the spine in her body. But now it seems there's no need to worry about that. Just change the piece of skull and reattach a little skin, and she'll be fine.
"Crash through...?"
Looking at the injury on Simonov's face, and the obvious indentation on the top of her head, Springfield couldn't help but subconsciously touch the top of her head.
"You first get used to it,, make sure you won't lose control and destroy the attached bionic skin. If there's no problem, go to G36, and you can talk to her about anything you want to do."
"Okay." Watching Renault speak towards herself without looking back, Springfield nodded as well.
However, her eyes were subconsciously looking towards the box that held her original neural core, as well as a group of dolls whl swapped out neur cores that were currently stacked like toy balls in that box.
Earlier, when SOP2's neural cloud was being migrated, Springfield had already asked about it, and those neural cores were completely devoid of data, just a pile of materials. But M3 and wz.29 had taken their respective neural cores with them, saying they wanted to keep them as a souvenir.
However, their neural cores are not big, only a little bit bigger than an ordinary strawberry. Type 80 and PK's neural cores are a little bit bigger, but not much bigger. But her own neural core...
It was the size of a tennis ball, two times larger than the other dolls'.
While trying to move her body, Springfield hesitated to take back her original neural core as a souvenir. It should still have some commemorative significance, right?
But just as she was lost in thought, a rather familiar-sounding voice rang out from Renault's side, "Springfield? Oh, I knew it, Renault. You're not trying to abduct all of Griffin's dolls, are you?"
Chapter 140 - Found Gadgets?
"Eh, Agent Helian?" After seeing the holographic image projected by Renault's cell phone, Springfield clenched her fingers awkwardly, unsure where to put her hands.
To directly detach from Griffin without saying a word was a minor issue if treated as a battlefield casualty, but now she was seen by Helian, the Griffin agent...
"Well, I haven't seen you for a few days. Looks like you've got a new body, but let's talk later when we have time. I've got some urgent business right now."
"Okay." Hearing that Helian's eyes didn't mean anything else, Springfield was confused as to what Helian actually meant and nodded, standing by to watch Renault repair Simonov.
"Isn't the previous mission already over? Don't tell me you guys got beaten by Sangvis again and ran to me for help?"
That would be too much of a fall, right? Griffin getting beaten by Sangvis Ferri Manufacturing twice in succession?
If that's really the case, they should stop doing business and hurry up and change careers.
"Er... no, this time, although the situation is not optimistic, it's much better than last time. We just need a little more time." Although quite a few SF units broke through the defense line in Sector S05, Griffin had a backhand.
The key issue was time and that a military company that had suddenly entered Sector S05. Although the agreement stated that the military wouldn't enter Griffin's jurisdiction, S05 was adjacent to the military's actual defense area. Even if they sent people in under the pretext of checking Griffin's commission status, Griffin couldn't do anything.
But if they didn't get rid of half the Sangvis units before the military arrived at the guardhouse, once the military made an issue of it, Griffin wouldn't be able to take it well.
The situation in S08 already showed that the military's attitude towards Griffin seemed to have changed. The successive actions against the AR team forced them to be very alert.
This time, finding Renault was just for insurance. Although Gentiane's battle plan calculated that they could clear most of the Sangvis units before the military squad arrived, just in case... having Renault's help would be more insurance.
If paying some commission money could completely block the military's excuse to lash out, it was definitely worth it!
"I won't listen to the reason. As long as it's a commission my side can do, I'll take it. Let's talk about the content of the commission directly." Renault unwrapped Simonov's skull and looked at his cell phone, checking the ship's current location.
They were almost over that base where Gentiane had been in Sector S09. If Helian had come a little later, they might have turned south by now.
Of course, this was just an automatic cruise route set by Renault. When there was nothing else to do, the ship circled back and forth over the Aegean Sea and the Griffin jurisdiction.
As for why it circled back and forth over Griffin's jurisdiction? Because only Griffin-controlled areas had no anti-aircraft firepower, and he didn't have to worry about his ship being suddenly attacked.
"Here are the coordinates. There's an elite Sangvis doll in this area commanding a large group of Sangvis preparing to re-launch an attack towards Griffin's watchtower. If possible, try to completely purge this Sangvis stronghold within an hour."
"A stronghold? Are there any Griffin's men inside?"
"No, they've been temporarily mobilized away."
To clear the Sangvis from the vicinity of the Griffin guardhouse as quickly as possible, Gentiane abandoned the stronghold she had just suppressed but hadn't occupied completely, hastily destroying the artillery that posed a serious threat to Griffin.
Now most of the Griffin dolls were gathered near the Griffin guardhouse, with no Griffin dolls in the Sangvis stronghold.
"That's good. Just a reminder, don't break anything and then claim it from me."
"Break? Eh? Where are you guys now?"
"It's not too far away, but if it's just hitting a stronghold, we shouldn't have to make another trip. UMP45? UMP45! Are you awake yet? Go to the bridge if you are. Bring WZ.29 along, let her see the bridge, and practice on it later."
"Hey? Really, I just laid down..."
"Consider it a mission commission. I'll give you a portion more of the pay this time."
Hearing Renault's words, UMP45, who was lying in the dormitory maintaining her imprint weapon, rolled over, sat up, picked up her cell phone, and ran towards the training room. WZ.29 had been in the training room before to learn how to pilot the ship and had even asked her for advice.
"Renault? What exactly are you trying to do?" Listening to Renault's words, it seemed like he wanted WZ.29 to pilot the airship. But what exactly did he mean by 'breaking'?
Renault's weapons and equipment shouldn't be enough to... wait a minute...
Helian was thinking, then thought of the huge size of Renault's airship. Before seeing Renault's doll hands doing it, they had used gunships and power armor.
But Sangvis's stronghold wasn't small, and the materials used weren't inferior. Although the tank guns equipped on the gunships could injure those buildings, they were still far from destroying them... could Renault have equipped his airship with heavy weaponry she didn't know about?
"I picked up two gadgets from the Sangvis side before and haven't used them since I installed them on the ship. This time is just right, using that Sangvis stronghold as a test-fire target."
Gadgets?
What kind of gadgets could hit the Sangvis stronghold in Sector S05 from high altitude? Through the vision systems of several dolls, Helian could see the current weather conditions in Sector S05. Although it was already dusk, the weather was clear, and apart from a splash of golden color in the distance, it was cloudless.
If Renault's airship was near Sector S05, the doll vision would certainly see it, but... no, there wasn't even an ant-sized black spot in the sky.
But before that answer became clear, Renault's side heard the sound of UMP45 and UMP40 scrambling.
"No way! You can't mess around with the Jupiter Cannon!"
"Oops! Just let me try it! I'm about to become a wasted doll now!"
Listening to the conversation between the two dolls, Helian's face cramped up, completely looking like she was wearing a mask of pain.
Chapter 141: No Big Deal
wz.29 stood timidly next to the pilot's seat, watching UMP45 and UMP40 battle it out, somewhat hesitant to sit down. Although she had previously run straight to the airship piloting training device, in such a short period, she had only just gotten the hang of understanding how to pilot it, and there was still a considerable distance to go in terms of piloting skills.
"Okay, let UMP40 come. Time waits for no one. Besides, it's not like it's a gun in your hand. How crooked can it be?" After hearing the sound of the two people fighting over it, Renault spoke breathlessly.
Anyway, the airship also has a calibration system; as long as the coordinates are entered, how far off can UMP40 be?
Moreover, although UMP40 herself wasn't good at fighting, this behavior of sitting in the cockpit and controlling the artillery attack didn't have anything to do with her own fighting ability. Just because she couldn't hit with the imprint weapon didn't mean she couldn't hit with the ship's artillery system.
"Hi-ya! Look at what the commander has said!" As soon as she heard Renault's words, while UMP45 froze, UMP40 directly squeezed UMP45 with her body and sat on the gunner's seat. Unfortunately, sitting down is sitting down...
"Then what? What should I do?" UMP40 looked at the console in front of her with a bewildered look on her face, completely unsure of how to activate the ship's Jupiter Cannon.
Renault, who was in the workroom, also had a dark look on his face, and his hands shivered in anger so much that he barely managed to rip some of the sensory components out of Simonov's head.
This guy? What's the meaning of this? You scrambled so aggressively, and this is the result? You don't know what you're doing up here!
UMP45 rolled her eyes and spread her hands, "Commander, you said it yourself I can..."
"Alright, just stay on the sidelines and tell her what to do. Turn around and stick her in a training device for a few days to lock her up. All day long, she just knows how to jerk off cats, and when it comes down to it, she's just here to play awkwardly."
Renault sighed, moving to install Simonov's skull. It was a tight fit, not a single flaw in sight, and Simonov, who felt no more abnormalities in her body, sat up after Renault patted her shoulder and consciously got into one of the repair pods beside SOP2.
"Ahahahaha! Where's AR15!" In the same amount of time, SOP2, who had been lying in the repair warehouse with bionic skin attached, jumped out of the repair pod.
However, seeing that AR15 did not come here to wait for her, SOP2 was also slightly dissatisfied, puffing out her cheeks, not knowing what she was thinking.
"She's outside at the corner of the corridor. Remember to take it easy when you're moving around, don't break anything in the house." Looking at this jumpy look of SOP2, Renault also said helplessly.
SOP2 is really worthy to be called a 16lab-made doll.
Even adapting to the speed of the new doll frame was faster than the other doll. Even Springfield had to be careful here to adapt to using the new body for adjustmens. They just changed their doll frame not long ago, yet now she have already completely adapted to her new body, even with the original doll frame had a world of difference in the new body, she managed to do so easily. 16lab dolls surely are very skilled
"Okay! Thank you, Commander, AR15, I'm coming!"
"Hey! Wait a minute! Don't just pounce on me! You'll break the doll frame!"
AR15, who had been waiting in the corridor outside the workshop, heard Renault directly point out her position and was wondering how Renault had detected her when she saw SOP2 rushing out of the workshop, jumping up high and pouncing towards her while running!
Boom!
The sudden force directly caused AR15 and SOP2 to turn into a rolling gourd together. As for Renault inside the workroom, he didn't care about this small situation outside. He picked up his cell phone, looked at Helian, who was caught in the middle of a tangle, raised his eyebrows, and asked, "If there's nothing else, I'm going to hang up first and have to go over to the bridge to take a look."
UMP45 was not the only one watching the bridge, whether it was wz.29, a newbie, or UMP40, an uneducated hilarious person, they were all there.
Although it wasn't as jumpy as MDR and Simonov and the others, sometimes unexpected situations would inevitably arise.
The Jupiter Cannon, this thing for him just nothing, but if it missed the mark, it will bury several Griffindoll echolons, so careful timing is needed.
Otherwise, it would be bad if it didn't hit the stronghold of Sangvis Ferri, but instead hit the heads of those Griffin dolls with a single shot.
Originally being entangled, Helian, after hearing Renault say so, although having the heart to persuade Renault to change his way...
But no matter what method is used, the risks involved need to be borne by the dolls under Renault's command and Renault himself. And if this angers Renault... the not-so-close relationship between them may not continue to be maintained.
But if you really let Renault use the Jupiter Cannon to attack the Iron Blood, then... once the military finds out that Renault holds this kind of weaponry that can strike accurately at ultra-long distances, coupled with the relationship with Griffin... I'm afraid that Griffin's side will also be held accountable.
As for the excuse that the Sangvis Ferri side of the Jupiter Cannon hit, this excuse also only works for children. The military forces from Griffin's jurisdiction are not far away, as long as they pay a little attention, they will able to notice that the Sangvis' Jupiter Cannon's activity.
But after just a little thought, Helian gave up persuading Renault. They can use the Jupiter Cannon as they wish. Anyway, the suspicion between the military and Griffin has long been more than a day. Even if they don't lash out this time, there will always be a day in the future when they will tear their faces off.
"Okay, I'll call back after a while." After figuring it out, only then did Helian nod and directly cut off the communication, leaning back in her chair and letting out a long sigh.
Springfield beside Renault could be said to have watched the matter that Renault had just contacted Helian from beginning to end. And at this time, seeing Renault get up and leave the workroom, he immediately lifted his foot to follow.
"Commander Renault, if the military or Griffin pursues us, what should we do..." In the end, regardless of Griffin or Renault, all are just private security contractors only. In the face of the military or Statesec, these behemoths, there can be no talk of resistance.
"Don't worry. Why do you think so much? Let's earn money first."
Seeing the worry on Springfield's face, Renault waved his hand in some surprise.
Pursue them?
That also requires them to catch up in order to be accountable, no?
Now that he had already gotten a flight permit from Universal Everything , except for some heavily defended places, he could go wherever he wanted.
The military's accountability?
The big deal is not to go to the military's control area.
What's the big deal? And the military's control area, most of them are not very prosperous places, and a lot of areas are still implementing the rationing system. Even if they go, the doll can't get something.
Chapter 142 - It's All a Headache
Although Renault's words sounded like those of an ordinary security contractor who was dying for money, Springfield head-scanned the expression on Renault's face from the side, and that ancient and unperturbed look didn't at all resemble a guy who would put himself in danger just for the sake of a little bit of money.
By the time Renault and Springfield arrived at the bridge, WZ.29 was already sitting honestly in the pilot's seat, carefully controlling the rudder.
UMP45 was instructing UMP40 to start the guidance program for the Jupiter Cannon.
"No, this one over here! Before starting it up, first check the condition of the Jupiter Cannon's hull and the collapsed radiation index in the air. These are the most basic check items! Didn't you help when the Jupiter Cannon was disassembled? Why can't you remember?"
"Uh, I was only helping to move things back then, I haven't seen any of these things..."
"Stop! Concentrate on following my instructions! Don't talk about something else!" Forcibly screwing back UMP40's head that wanted to turn around to look at her, UMP45 somewhat helplessly sighed.
In the beginning, I should have properly persuaded Renault and shouldn't have let this guy 40 buy a pet!
Now this guy is addicted to jerking cats all day long and seldom takes the initiative to do anything else. If not for the fact that she is quite diligent in tidying up the room, she would have thought that UMP40 had directly degenerated into the same kind of fish paddling monster as RFB and the others!
"Artillery coordinates, 27.55873..." Nodding with UMP45, who was reporting the coordinates, Renault didn't say anything and directly walked behind WZ.29, looking up to survey the status of the Jupiter cannons displayed on the screen.
Both Jupiter Cannonz are in good condition. Even after disassembly, they still look no different from the SF ones.
The original Sangvis Ferri Manufacturing logo on the cannon's hull had been completely covered up by someone, and in its place was a pink rabbit that looked exactly like the one on the ship's hull... Tsk, these guys, are they really addicted to pink rabbits?
"Self-test complete, Jupiter Cannon in good condition, ready to fire." UMP40 opened her mouth and repeated the results that came back from the self-test system.
UMP45 also looked up towards WZ.29 in the pilot's seat, "WZ, turn on the ship's automatic attitude stabilization system."
"Hey! Good! Yes!" Hearing UMP45 suddenly call out to herself, WZ.29 was startled.
She originally thought that she only needed to sit here and keep an eye on the rudder and that would be the end of the matter, but she didn't realize that the Jupiter Cannon on the ship actually needed her own hands as the pilot to open fire.
However, WZ.29 had never heard of the Attitude Stabilization System, and the layout of this ship's console was completely different from the ones she had seen in the training facility.
"The fourth one in the second row on the right-hand side, the blue one." Looking at WZ.29's flustered appearance, Renault uttered a reminder.
"Ah! Okay, okay!" Hearing Renault's sudden outburst, WZ.29 hastily raised his hand and pressed that button down, but other than the indicator light under the button lighting up, nothing seemed to happen.
The spaceship didn't give anything back either... It was as if she hadn't done anything just now...
"Hey? This, this?" WZ.29 timidly turned back at once, tilting her head to look at Renault standing behind her, and then at the UMP45 not far away.
"It's already activated, don't worry, the lack of response is normal." As Renault said that, the UMP45 over there also gave a thumbs up towards WZ.29, and then looked towards Renault.
"Jupiter cannon ready."
"Eight sharp shots, fire."
The moment Renault's words fell, UMP40, who had already been unable to hold back, directly pressed the Jupiter Cannon's fire button.
Boom Boom!
Two ear-piercing explosions, accompanied by the sound of strong electric currents, suddenly rang out from the front end of the airship's hull where it was mounted!
Two solid rays of light directly shot out electrically!
Leaving a large swath of searing electric arcs behind them, they rushed straight out towards the stronghold of the Sangvis Ferri Manufacturing!
Without waiting for the arcs to dissipate from the bridge observation window, UMP40 pressed the button again.
Rumble!
Listening to the roaring sound, UMP40 narrowed her eyes and kept pressing the button, but just when she wanted to press the ninth, she was directly stopped by UMP45 who rolled her eyes.
She knew it, this guy was purely here to have a good time, right?
"Alright, after the shot, do you still want to empty all the ammo in your inventory?" UMP45 directly raised her hand and lifted UMP40 from the seat.
This really opened her eyes. At first, she actually thought that UMP40 was a mature and reliable guy.
I'm afraid that this appearance is the real face of UMP40, right?
All day long addicted to sunbathing and jerking cats, and occasionally getting sleepy, plus a little bit of craziness... At first glance, although it seems to be mature and stable, the actual situation seems to be...
Fortunately, the Jupiter Cannon has an automatic calibration system, otherwise, according to what UMP40 just did, a large part of the shells would all fall into empty places.
"Okay, nothing more. Put away the Jupiter Cannon. It's good if WZ.29 wants to continue practicing. Just don't enter the military cordon area, and follow the navigation on the route slowly."
Renault raised his hand to pat WZ.29's shoulder, but as soon as he raised his hand, this guy WZ.29 shrank his neck like a scared little animal.
UMP45 did not have any scruples, directly hit her hand on WZ.29's shoulder, "I know, she'll be left to me. In a couple of days, she'll almost be a qualified pilot."
Springfield, who had followed him from the workroom to the bridge without leaving, waved her hand at WZ.29 and said a few words of encouragement after hearing Renault and UMP45's words, and then followed Renault, who had left the bridge once again.
If those shells just now didn't miss, Helian's commission this time is almost considered to be successfully completed. The speed seems to be a bit fast; just a few shells were fired, and up to now, it hasn't even confirmed the effects of the shells after they landed.
At this time, still in the S09 area Griffin base, Helian was a little apprehensive, waiting for the S05 area scouting team's news. Of course, in addition to scouting teams, there is also the situation on Gentiane's side.
Gentiane cannot be contacted at all, but this is because Gentiane and those dolls close to the Griffin guardhouse directly closed the communication system to avoid being invaded by the Parapulei virus of the Sangvis Ferri again.
The only way get news from Gentiane's side: one is to wait for their side to clear out all the Sangvis Ferri in the sanatorium, and the second is... in addition to Gentiane and others' total annihilation, there seems to be no third possibility.
If Gentiane and those dolls and human employees under her command all failed, then waiting for Griffin's...
As soon as she thought of this, Helian couldn't help but feel her brain begin to ache.
The Sangvis Ferri's attack, the changes in the military, the actions against the AR squad's M4A1s, and the dissatisfaction caused by the transfer of Griffin's dolls out of the rich district...
This complicated matter was like an awl drilling holes in Helian's skull back and forth repeatedly.
Chapter 143 - Retreat
Just when Helianthus was so busy that her brain hurt, Gentiane's side also had some pain in her brain, but hers was literal.
It was from the broken pieces of concrete that fell from above. Thanks to that piece of concrete falling flat on her head—if it had fallen on a sharp edge, she couldn't help but think her brains would have been splattered.
"Ugh, I should have taken a helmet and put it on just now!"
Raising her hand and touching her head as if to check for a crack, after confirming there was no bleeding, Gentiane then fixed her eyes forward.
The Mastermind's current condition was a complete unknown. The graphite dust scattered after the graphite bomb exploded directly caused a secondary explosion, and she, the initiator, was also directly lifted off the ground. The sanatorium building that had already been hit repeatedly collapsed in large parts.
RO635 and M16 were also stopped on the other side by the explosion, but because of the diForce, they were not affected by the graphite dust.
Luckily though, M4A1 was snatched back from the Mastermind.
Hissing, Gentiane lowered her head to look at the M4A1 in her hand. Lowering her head so low tore her wound, and she immediately drew a breath of cold air.
Now is not the time to think about this! Hurry up and get out of this hellhole!
Da da da da!
Just as Gentiane put her hands on the M4A1 on her shoulder, G36 and the others who had come from outside the building rushed over. After seeing the Sangvis Ferri doll that stood up from the smoke and dust, together with AUG and the others beside her, they raised their guns and started suppressing fire.
The Sangvis Ferri doll, who had only just gotten up and was about to rush over to snatch the M4A1 back, was directly hit by this barrage of bullets, forcing her to reopen her Force shield.
"Getting in the way... Getting in the way..." Against the attacks from both directions, the Sangvis Ferri doll said with some annoyance.
In this way, there was no way for her to directly rush over and snatch the M4A1 back. It had to be said that the jamming device used by that doll just now was indeed effective. After neutralizing her signals, the Sangvis Ferri doll, who didn't carry any heavy firepower on her body, was also at a loss.
Taking advantage of the efforts of a group of dolls to suppress the other party, Gentiane also rushed to the side of RO635 and the others, handing over the M4A1 in her hand to the Grizzly MKV, and picked up her own grenade launcher again, loading a high-explosive bullet into the magazine.
"You guys go ahead and take the M4A1 into the underground fortifications! Hurry up! Bring in all the wounded too!" Gentiane shouted at the top of her lungs, on the verge of breaking her voice.
"Understood!"
Several dolls answered, hurriedly lifting the injured doll next to them and running towards the entrance of the underground fortification.
Boom! Boom!
Seeing the M4A1 being moved away, Gentiane shot, and a high-explosive grenade directly hit the Force shield of that Sangvis Ferri doll. In addition to the grenades from Gentiane's side, the other echelons on G36's side also pulled out grenades and incendiary grenades, throwing them all towards the Sangvis Ferri doll.
Faced with these projectiles raining down, the Sangvis Ferri doll frowned.
"Dreamer, where's your fire support?"
Not only did the fire support stop several minutes ago, even the Sangvis Ferri dolls that had come to raid the guardhouse had gradually stopped, and apart from those missed earlier, no subsequent Sangvis Ferri dolls had rushed to support them at all.
"Zi-ZiLa!" However, what responded to her was not some Dreamer's answering sound, but a piercing electric current sound. The Sangvis Ferri doll, who didn't get a response, braced herself against the Force Shield and took several steps back with some difficulty.
Only then did she hear Dreamer's stuttering voice ringing out from the communication.
"Ahem... sorry master, there's been a slight error here, the artillery position was attacked by a Jupiter Cannon..."
"You... sure aren't as good as Agent..."
"Well, everything is subject to change, master. Should we retreat now?"
"I'm going outside, send a drone over to pick me up."
"Understood."
Just as their words fell, the Sangvis Ferri doll, which was still holding up its Force shield in an attempt to find a chance to break through a group of dolls' defenses in search of the M4A1, suddenly put away the Force shield it was holding up. Its not-so-tall figure almost instantly scurried out a few dozen meters, leaping towards the high ground in an instant!
"What! This kind of speed!"
Seeing the speed of this Sangvis Ferri doll, the several dolls on G36's side were all startled. When they came over, that Sangvis Ferri doll had already been attacked by Gentiane, and was also being suppressed by the dolls on RO635's side, so they hadn't seen that guy's maneuvering ability. Now it seems, it's good that Commander Gentiane directly told them to gather and then rushed over, otherwise, I'm afraid that the other party would easily pick them off one by one!
Of course, if they knew that this Sangvis Ferri doll had directly paralyzed all the dolls in the guardhouse that were fighting when RO635 hadn't come, they wouldn't think so. The jamming probe that RO635 had gotten from Persica had made a big difference this time.
Without that thing, the dolls present, not to mention fighting with this guy, would have been blocked by the other party's electronic signals, instantly turning into lambs to be slaughtered.
Seeing that G36 and the others were still planning to chase them out, Gentiane hurriedly called out to the crowd, "Wait a minute! That guy is retreating."
With the help of the afterglow at dusk, Gentiane clearly saw several Sangvis Ferri drones, the kind used for scouting, rushing over in the distant sky. The direction in which that Sangvis Ferri doll had left was exactly towards those drones. The movements of the Sangvis Ferri doll also confirmed Gentiane's guess. Two devices behind the Sangvis Ferri doll that looked like probes and robotic arms directly wrapped around the torso position of two of the scouts as she jumped up.
"Eh, do Sangvis Ferri's scouts still work like that?" Seeing the Sangvis Ferri mastermind moving away in the sky, M16 put down the imprint weapon in her hand and scratched her head in some suspicion.
She had never heard that Sangvis Ferri's scout drones could actually be used like this.
And just as M16 said this, those scattered SF units also directly turned around and ran towards a location far away from the sanatorium. Obviously, they had been given the order to retreat.
"Hiss! Ouch ouch ouch! What suffering! Why did I rush straight over here in a hot-headed manner!" Seeing those Sangvis units leave, Gentiane was also relieved of her strength and directly sat down cross-legged on the ground. Lifting her hand to touch her stinging head, she complained with some annoyance.
"Commander Gentiane, your behavior just now was really too impulsive!" RO635 was also relieved at this moment, but then she came to Gentiane's side and said, "What kind of doll commander personally charge forward? Just now, Gentiane, are just lucky. If you had been a bit unlucky, not to mention snatching back the M4A1, just that dust explosion would have killed you!"
Chapter 144 - Enrollment, Lists, and Lack of Money
"Commander, don't you think it's been a long time since we went to some normal places?" Glancing at the arrival information on Renault's phone, M1911 came over and tugged on Renault's cuff.
"Hmm? Normal places? Didn't we just go to old Mrs. Graven's cruise ship not too long ago?" Renault asked back with some amusement.
"Eh, well..." Hearing Renault's response, M1911 scratched her head, pondering how to organize her words to persuade Renault to take them around some normal cities, when MDR behind her suddenly spoke up.
"Hiya! Not too long ago? It was clearly more than a hundred chapters ago!"
"Huh? What do you mean, more than a hundred chapters?"
"Ahem, anyway, it's been at least half a month! Now that we have the Springfield and the others at home, it's time to go out and buy some clothes!"
Ordinary clothes are purely consumables for the T-Dolls, especially for those who have changed their doll bodies. They'll wear out a piece of clothing if they don't pay attention.
Those Doll clothes produced by IOP were a bit more durable and had some stab and bullet resistance, but they couldn't wear the same set of clothes for decades.
"Okay, that makes some sense. So it's your choice where to go, any city with certified flight authorization that is."
"Hey hey! Gather up! Hurry up and get over here to vote for a place now! It's getting late!"
Listening to MDR shouting at the top of her voice while broadcasting this message in the T-Doll's communication system, Springfield, who was standing in front of the restaurant's bar and helping G36 clean up the dishes, couldn't help but feel a little strange.
"G36, is Commander Renault's side this busy every day?"
Looking at the T-Dolls that ran into the restaurant from the doorway, along with a group of SF Dolls, chattering and discussing where to go.
Even Springfield, who came from Griffin's headquarters, couldn't help but sigh with emotion.
The relationship between the T-Dolls on Renault's side was too harmonious, wasn't it?
At Griffin Headquarters, although the relationships weren't bad, it was rare for a group of T-Dolls to gather together for collective activities outside of combat.
"It's not like this every day. Today is just a special case, but most of them gather together during meals."
There was only this one dining hall in the entire ship, unless it was like MG3, who had her own whole grill and produced her own food at the farm.
Otherwise, if you want to eat, you can only come to the dining room. The kitchen area is not small, so if you are interested in cooking by yourself, you can also do so.
Looking at Springfield, who was lost in thought while arranging the plates, G36 raised her eyebrows. "You heard what MDR said just now. Is there anything you want?"
"Hey? What do you want?" Putting down the things in his hand, Springfield looked around and then at the bar in the dining room.
"Maybe buy some tools for making coffee? How about getting more coffee pots and cups?"
"Oh?" Upon hearing this, G36 was a bit surprised. Looking back, she noticed that the dining room lacked coffee-related items other than a thrifted coffee maker that Nagant Revolver had picked up cheaply.
The T-Dolls in the family didn't have any coffee lovers, and their commander didn't drink coffee every day, preferring black tea and plain water. Therefore, there was no other kind of coffee on the airship except for some ingredients used in the coffee machine.
"Right! I knew I was forgetting something!" Holding a plate of desserts that had just come out of the oven, G3 realized something. She had gotten used to coffee back at Griffin, but since she never drank it herself, she didn't even remember it.
"G3?" Looking at the tray in G3's hand, with that familiar smell, Springfield confirmed that this G3 specialized in dessert baking at Griffin's headquarters.
"Well, it's me. I just didn't expect that you, Springfield, would actually come back to Commander Renault's side as well. But in that case, your cafe should have a place, right?" G3 said, gesturing at the restaurant's bar.
G36 also nodded when she heard that. Before, the bar was only used as a dining table, but it would be very appropriate to change it into a cafe bar.
"Make a list in a while. When we get off the ship, there will be a lot of things to buy. If we don't pay attention, we might forget."
Forget? How is this possible? Springfield smiled somewhat helplessly in her heart.
With the Doll's memory, how could this kind of thing be forgotten? As long as the task is given, the root protocols will remind the T-Doll at all times...
Oh, the root protocols has been completely deleted by Renault, deleted to the core, with none of it left!
Now there is no longer any question of authority or command.
All things require T-Doll autonomous action.
If the tasks are too complicated, then... losing three or four items is not impossible...
Just when Springfield, G36, and G3 were discussing what to purchase, WA2000 was lying on the table nearby in boredom, looking helplessly at the large group of T-Dolls chattering in the restaurant.
"These guys, why are they all so active? They're still holding a map and choosing random places. It's impossible for T-Dolls like us to travel to other cities without formalities, right?"
Anyway, WA2000 was a bit unconvinced. Those T-Dolls pointed out a few cities, but it wasn't easy to enter those.
Even for Griffin, it would take some time to coordinate all kinds of formalities, and impose all kinds of restrictions on the dolls before tactical dolls like them could be permitted to walk on the streets.
Otherwise, they would be stopped just as soon as they reached the gate of the quarantine wall.
"Maybe Commander Renault has some special formalities on hand." G43 was a bit more optimistic. Although she also wanted to get involved, she remembered that her account at Griffin had been completely frozen, and her savings from hard work had been completely reimbursed...
She'd better not cause trouble. She would just follow the others out when the time came. She didn't have a dime in hand anyway, so buying things was out of the question. She'd just follow the other T-Dolls out for a spell.
"But what are those Sangvis guys arguing about? Are they going to tag along too?" Stg-44 set her eyes on the Ironblood T-Dolls.
But that was unrealistic. Sangvis Ferri was now an enemy of humanity, and no city would allow Sangvis Ferri T-Dolls to enter, right?
Chapter 145 - Running Away, It's a Habit
Whether or not the city allows Sangvis Ferri dolls to enter is obviously not within the scope of consideration for a group of Sangvis Ferri dolls.
Of course, not all the Sangvis Ferri units could follow along. In addition to the original Jaeger on Renault's side, only Scarecrow, Maria, and a few other Sangvis Ferri elites could come along.
After all, the identity that Renault crafted is not a doll but an outright human identity. Although he couldn't afford to be checked thoroughly, just going into the city to buy something was completely feasible.
Moreover, because the dolls in the house had all deleted their root protocols, their behavior had already changed from normal dolls. Instead of having the dolls mimic their previous behaviors before the protocols were deleted, it was simpler to just assign them human identities.
As long as they didn't carry weapons or wear those fixed outfits issued by the IOP to tactical dolls, very few people would recognize their true identities.
Of course, the main reason is to save trouble. If they wanted to enter the city as dolls, they would need to obtain local control permission, security contractor or military approval, and undergo Statesec's supervision. There are many regulations and rules for dolls, and with so many on his side, formalities could take a long time.
"Come on! Write your identification codes first, and those who have given themselves names, write them down! Write down what you want to buy, one by one! Don’t mess up!" Alchemist smiled and stood in place, with a number of pens and paper on the table in front of her.
Scarecrow sighed in relief.
Luckily, Alchemist seemed normal and not chattering about philosophical matters.
When normal, the Alchemist was reliable, much more so than Intruder and Executioner.
Those two were practically useless—one always lazing around, and the other always drinking. If not for A-91's promise of new liquor, Executioner probably wouldn't have joined the others to leave the ship.
Not far away, WA2000 and a few others who had been watching were astonished. "No way! Even the Rippers can buy things? Did Commander Renault even pay them a salary?" G43 and Stg-44 were also taken aback.
They thought the Rippers and Vespids were low-autonomy units, unaware that Renault included them in the payroll.
Their hearts felt a bit bitter.
"Why are you guys still sitting here? Get ready to go out," Type 80 and 56-1 approached, puzzled by the three who hadn't moved.
"Out? Our original accounts cannot be used. What's the point..." G43 shook her head helplessly, lying on the table.
"The original accounts? Didn’t Commander Renault transfer all the money to the new accounts? Didn't you check?" Type 80 exchanged a glance with 56-1, then fished out Renault’s issued cell phone and showed it.
"Transfer? We didn’t get the message... oh! The root protocols for public communication have been deleted! I forgot about that!"
Stg-44 was the first to react.
Previously, any account changes were communicated via Griffin’s channel, but now, without the protocols, Renault couldn't notify them as Griffin did.
However, through the cell phone Renault gave them, they could check the balance in their anonymous accounts.
This was all discussed with Helianthus. The deposits weren't much, totaling just over a million, mostly Springfield's and some from Type 80. Other dolls were quite poor, especially WA2000, whose entire deposit barely broke four digits.
Renault was skeptical about whether Helian had deducted doll deposits, but had to admit that most of Griffin’s dolls were poor.
....
"It's time to run away again. My luck has been bad lately. Either I'm on the run or getting ready to run away," M16 muttered, touching her empty pockets and looking at RO635 across from her.
"Come on, no point complaining. I nearly got caught, and now that the military is after us, M4A1 needs to be sent back to 16Lab for Persica to deal with," Gentiane said, fishing out a bottle of wine and tossing it to M16. She still had to guard the area and couldn’t return to 16Lab with them.
"Oh, thanks!" M16 nodded, accepting the bottle, as did RO635. Gentiane then went with them for the helicopter, watching it slowly lift off.
Although the M4A1's condition wasn't completely secure, the remaining AR Team members seemed normal. With appropriate measures, they should return to 16Lab smoothly.
As the guardhouse faded away, RO635 felt relieved, only to see M16 flipping through two cell phones from her belt pouch while drinking.
"What’s that?"
"Mine and M4’s phones, used to contact AR15 and SOP2. Just given to me quietly by Commander Gentiane." M16 activated one of the phones, which still had power despite being off for so long.
Dingdong!
As soon as the phone turned on, a message from SOP2 appeared in front of M16.
Chapter 146 - Expenditure Gap
SOP2: Just got off the airship! Planning to hit the doorstep of Griffin HQ with AR15 in a bit!
There wasn't much to the message, but behind the two of them in the photo—SOP2 gesturing victory and a reluctant-looking AR15—was a group of dolls disembarking from the ship.
M16 saw a number of familiar faces among those dolls.
"Is that AR15 and SOP2? Aren't those dolls behind them the Springfield girls that HQ announced had gone MIA just before?" Before M16 could say anything, RO635 had already come over.
After seeing the two people in the photo, as well as those dolls behind them, she couldn't help but exclaim in shock.
"Eh..." Hearing RO635's question, M16 scratched her head, pondering how to tell RO635 about AR15 and SOP2, as she and M4A1 hadn't had a chance to explain it yet.
"Wasn't AR15 wanted by Griffin HQ before? And why is SOP2 with AR15? And what about those missing dolls behind them?"
Seeing the awkward expression on M16's face, RO635 instantly fired off a series of questions, directly confusing M16.
Looking down at the unconscious M4A1 in the repair pod in front of her, M16 sighed, came over to RO635's side, and whispered about AR15 and SOP2.
Listening to M16 narrate the series of events, RO635's face couldn't help but become strange.
What is all this? AR15 running away due to the Parapulei virus was one thing, but SOP2 staying with AR15 and this guy Renault accepting a large group of runaway dolls from Griffin?
This was like stealing from Griffin!
"Well, although I don't know how Springfield and the others ended up with Renault, I do understand that Renault wouldn't proactively grab people from Griffin. Springfield and the others probably stayed with him for the sake of their members."
"How do you know that?" RO635 asked skeptically, unsure about Renault's character without meeting him face-to-face.
"Look at the dolls in the photo. WA2000 beside G43, and next to them M3 and a few others. When we separated from Griffin's main force, several of them were completely down, with shrapnel penetrating their neural cores, making recovery seem hopeless."
"Then how..." Hearing M16 describe it like this, RO635 frowned suspiciously.
Those dolls in the photo didn't look like they were in serious trouble; they even looked happy.
"Renault seems to have technology that can repair neural cores or transfer neural clouds. I'm not sure about the specifics, but it must be something similar. Those dolls must have been fixed by Renault."
M16 couldn't help but look down at the M4A1 in the repair pod. M4A1 had also been attacked by that Sangvis Mastermind recently, and up until now hadn't woken up.
Her state wasn't optimistic. If possible, M16 would prefer to send M4A1 to Renault.
But unfortunately, they had to return to Griffin HQ first and then transfer M4A1 back to 16Lab for Persica to check her condition personally. This time was just the right opportunity to get M4A1 out from under the military's nose before those guys did anything out of the ordinary again.
Gentiane had informed them of the situation before they boarded the plane. While the other dolls were aware of the military's movements, they weren't sure exactly where those guys were coming from.
There might be smart dolls who could guess what was really going on, but with Griffin's root protocol restrictions, they obviously couldn't talk about such confidential matters.
RO635, who heard M16's words, likewise thought of the still-sleeping M4A1. This time, M4A1's neural core was said to be damaged from the forced intrusion by the Sangvis Ferri Mastermind.
Sending M4A1 to Renault for repairs was an option, but it was better to wait until Persica had checked her out. Persica, after all, was the one who made them, so there must be a way.
Just as she was thinking, a sudden burst of cell phone button sounds rang from M16's side. RO635 looked up to see M16 chatting on the cell phone with SOP2 and AR15.
No, not just the two of them, but a whole group of dolls on Renault's side.
"Well, are you still in the mood for chatting now?" Seeing M16's appearance of drinking while her fingers kept leaping on the cell phone screen, RO635 said somewhat helplessly.
"Yes, why not? The M4A1's situation shouldn't matter. Even if Persica can't fix it, we still have Renault as a last option," M16 replied, continuing to look at the cell phone screen.
Just now, MDR on Renault's side had created a group chat, pulling all the dolls on Renault's side into it. NZ75 and CF05 were working together with M1 Garand to distribute money to those without any.
"RO, how much money have you saved so far?" Looking at the amounts being handed out in the group, M16 couldn't help but swallow.
No wonder Renault could keep those Griffin dolls so smoothly!
His salary or pay was really generous.
Looking at the messages designating payees, M16 really wished Renault would give her a paycheck too, so she wouldn't have to search around HQ for money to buy wine.
"Hmm? Not much. After all, the number of missions isn't high. I used most of my savings to buy special photo portraits."
Even as a special doll from 16Lab seconded to Griffin, RO635 didn't save much money. Most of her salary went to buy her favorite things, plus some usual expenses for food and drink, leaving little behind. Due to their special status, Griffin wouldn't raise their pay too high.
Otherwise, the compensation expenses for dolls would be enough to drag Griffin down completely. With dolls carrying out most of the combat tasks, human employees mostly held backup and logistics roles. This meant Griffin didn't have to spend too much on salaries.
If all the human employees had to fight, not to mention whether Griffin could afford it, there simply wouldn't be enough personnel available.
"Why do you suddenly remember to ask this? You're not trying to ask me for a loan, are you?" RO pursed her lips and raised her hand to cover the satchel at her waist.
"Here, look at this." M16 waved her hand and held the cell phone screen in front of RO635's eyes.
Chapter 147: Overthinking It
"You're just going to let us out? You're not afraid that we'll run away?" Holding the drink she just bought from the street, Ourobouros looked around, still somewhat incredulous.
"Run? Then where do you want to run to? Back to Sangvis Ferri ? Or to the contaminated area to keep company with the mutants? Or maybe to some obscure place to work a shady job in a dive?" RFB clutched the bag in her hand, taking inventory of all the games he had just bought from the store.
"Oh yeah! If you want to go to Griffin, it seems like the front gate of Griffin's headquarters is right in front of you. Look, SOP2 and the girls seem to be taking pictures over there." While RFB was talking, she suddenly remembered something and pointed ahead.
"Huh?" Ourobouros surprised at herwords, and at a glance, she saw the conspicuous logo of Griffin. "Eh, Griffin? Forget about it. I don't want to jump over there and get dismantled into scrap metal as a test subject."
A Sangvis Ferri doll falling into the hands of Griffin's technicians? The Ourobouros didn't need to think much to know what would happen: dismantling, analyzing the materials used by Sangvis Ferri , the doll structure, the OGAS technology, and various intelligence about Sangvis Ferri 's movements.
As soon as she thought of this, the Ourobouros couldn't help but shiver. The imposing gate of Griffin's headquarters in front of her looked like a giant beast opening its bloody mouth.
"Then no, I'm not planning to go anywhere else anyway. Where else is as comfortable as on Commander Renault's airship?" When she wasn't on a mission, she would occasionally go to the training device to practice her skills. But now that more than half of the chores on the airship had been taken away by the Rippers, she could naturally spend more time relaxing.
"Well, that's true," Ourobouros said somewhat resentfully. Not far ahead of the Griffin gate, SOP2 and AR15 had already left.
Although SOP2's whereabouts were reported as unknown, AR15's wanted status had not been lifted. If recognized by Griffin's dolls, there would be a lot of trouble.
...
"These two guys are really bold... They actually ran to the door of Griffin's headquarters. But just in time, while there is no mission now, how about going to find them for a meal?" M16 looked at the message sent by SOP2, her heart moved, and she asked RO635, who was counting her savings.
"Hey! Isn't this too risky? AR15 is still wanted. If we go over, will it be too noticeable?" RO635, who had been depressedly calculating her earnings from the mission, looked up at M16. Her eyes became shiny at the prospect.
The two of them had just returned to 16Lab. After Persica's examination ruled out the possibility of spreading the Parapulei virus, they had returned to Griffin headquarters. Fortunately, they had some free time before the next mission. Rather than staying in Griffin's dormitory, it would be better to go out and enjoy a stroll.
Although M4A1's situation was not optimistic, Persica had guaranteed that it could be repaired. The fire Control Core and imprint module of her imprinted weapon were melted, but the main neural cloud was not a problem. Otherwise, M16 and RO wouldn't have had the mind to run and find SOP2 and AR15 for a meal.
"It's a good thing we have cell phones; otherwise, it would be a bit troublesome to contact them." M16 said as he sent a message to SOP2 and AR15.
Renault's dolls had shut down all doll-related communication networks before coming out, mainly to avoid detection by those staking out the area. Griffin's headquarters was here, and while Griffin handled the main security affairs, the Statesec's power was not small.
Just after Renault's airship landed at the airport leased by the Universal Anything Company, some people had already taken notice.
So to play it safe, and as instructed by Renault, the dolls on Renault's side shut down their communication networks. But they had cell phones, so Renault wasn't worried about not being able to find them.
"Is this cell phone really that good? Isn't it said that these things completely malfunction if they're close to a polluted area?" RO635 asked, curious about the reliability of cell phones for dolls, considering their susceptibility to collapsing radiation.
"That's for sure. Think about where SOP2 and AR15 sent their messages from the sky. There's not much collapse radiation up there, but ordinary cell phone communication wouldn't be unaffected by the collapse particle."
The location where they had crossed paths with AR15 and the others was in a restaurant nearby. SOP2 was already standing inside the store's floor-to-ceiling windows, waving at them repeatedly as M16 and RO635 approached.
M16 waved back and pushed open the door of the restaurant, only to be startled by the scene inside. These were all dolls who had turned off their communication systems. Although their systems couldn't be recognized, M16's memory wasn't faulty.
Who else could these be but Renault's dolls?
The most surprising sight was the presence of Scarecrow and Alchemist.
Even Sangvis Ferri dolls were in the city thanks to Renault. That guy's heart was really big. Wasn't he afraid Griffin would find out and create a conflict?
Of course, Renault wasn't afraid. He knew a bit about doll identity verification. Based on appearance alone, Griffin's tactical dolls couldn't completely determine if someone was the target they were looking for. There were many humans, and some looked similar to their doll forms. If they weren't careful and made a mistake, they would be dealt with as abnormal dolls.
"This way! This way! M16!" SOP2 saw M16 enter the store and was waving to greet her but was directly blocked by AR15's meal kit.
Speaking so loudly, it seemed she was afraid the service dolls couldn't hear. If Statesec people came to investigate, their identity would be exposed. Although AR15 didn't think Renault would watch them be taken away by the Statesec or Griffin, it wasn't something they could rely on to act recklessly.
There was enough trouble on Renault's plate. It was better to cause less trouble for him. If something happened to Renault one day, they, the dolls, wouldn't be able to cry even if they wanted to at that time.
Chapter 148: Fearless?
"As long as it's okay." After hearing M16 and RO elaborate on M4A1's current situation, AR15 was relieved.
Just a moment ago, when she heard that M4A1 hadn't woken up yet, she had the impulse to pull Renault and rush to Sangvis Ferri HQ to kill that Sangvis Ferri mastermind.
"Well, anyway, don't worry too much. M4 will be fine with Persica," M16 said, raising her hand and pouring herself a full glass of wine.
"There's nothing wrong with M4 now, but you two... really can't come back?" RO635 asked somewhat helplessly, looking at SOP2 and AR15, who had absolutely no communication signals leaking out.
All the members of the AR Team hadn't even had the chance to gather together yet, and now they were going to be disbanded? Although it wasn't disbanded in name, two people had already run away.
"For the time being... we probably can't go back. Although I feel sorry for Persica, I don't quite want to go back to Griffin right now," AR15 shook her head. Not wanting to go back to ask for trouble was one part of the reason, but the other part was...
Naturally, staying on Renault's side could make her stronger!
The situation during the rescue of M4 and SOP2 before made it clear: if she had been in her previous state before being transformed by Renault, even with Executioner escorting her, she wouldn't necessarily have had a chance of escaping from that kind of battle situation.
The weight of two dos would have slowed her down, and stray bullets would have been enough to tear her apart.
A direct drop from the gunship would have sent her crashing to the ground in pieces.
Most importantly, after Renault deleted those root protocols, her brain felt much clearer.
Originally, she had wanted to rush over alone to find the Sangvis Ferri Command Hub with the idea of dying, but this impulse had disappeared over the past few days. It had to be said that the meals cooked by G36 and the desserts baked by G3 contributed significantly to her change of mind.
Spending time with former Sangvis Ferri elite dolls like Scarecrow also made her resist the urge to settle the score with Sangvis Ferri.
There wasn't much point, anyway. Even if she could take down thousands of Sangvis Ferris in one breath, the Mastermind on the Sangvis Ferri side would always recycle discarded Sangvis Ferri dolls and create new ones. Moreover, stopping Sangvis Ferri's conspiracy was no longer her mission. Renault had never even mentioned going to find trouble with Sangvis Ferri.
"For the time being, I don't want to go back, but Commander Renault said that if you need help in the future, you can call us. AR15 and I definitely won't charge you a commission fee!" SOP2 confidently patted her chest and assured them.
AR15 also nodded at her words. This was considered Renault's preferential treatment for them. Of course, Renault wouldn't object if other dolls wanted to help, but in the case of M4A1, they wouldn't charge a fee. For others, they would definitely need to pay.
"Eh..."
Hearing SOP2's words, both M16 and RO were stunned. Then they looked at each other and laughed helplessly.
This guy was making it sound easy, but they didn't have the authority to call for off-site support in the middle of a mission. Despite this, M16 kept SOP2's words in her heart. If it wasn't for SOP2 and AR15, there would have been no way for them, her and M4, to get Renault's communication tools. Moreover, M4's cell phone was in Persica's hands, and with Persica's curiosity, she had probably already completely dismantled it.
...
"I'm afraid I watched too many sci-fi movies last night and I'm a little sleepless today. It's not a good sign that I'm hallucinating this early in the morning." Shaking his head and rubbing his eyes again, the Statesec agent in charge of the stakeout blinked incredulously.
"Where is there any hallucination? This is the real thing. I can't imagine that the Universal Anything Company is actually able to take out this kind of thing."
Looking at the huge spaceship parked on the airport tarmac, the two Statesec agents' eyes were filled with disbelief.
Someone had actually built this kind of flying machine that currently only existed in fantasies without saying a word.
"How on earth did such a large lump of iron fly?"
"Maybe a little anti-gravity technology? Plus a good set of vertical engines?"
"Come on, Typhon, you've seen it before. That thing only floats up a meter or so off the ground, but it can't fly hundreds or thousands of meters into the air like this airship."
As the words on the screen paused, the doll standing next to the screen also looked over at her own commander. "That's the general situation. Any suggestions, Commander Angelia?"
Though she wanted to ask if there was any closer video footage, Angie had to admit there really wasn't, and even if there was, it probably wasn't as clear as what she could see herself, having personally walked up to that ship and observed it closely.
"No, what else can I suggest? I know that guy's identity without checking, and he even screwed me over once before." Angelia sighed.
She originally thought it was something strange, but it turned out to be Renault's airship.
She didn't expect that after such a period of time, Renault had even hitched his way to the Universal Anything Company.
The wealth of Universal Anything was considerable, and as long as Renault didn't do anything out of the ordinary in this city, even Statesec didn't have the right to make things difficult for him.
"What a lucky guy. Thinking about MDR back then and those two touchy-feely monsters from RFB makes me a bit annoyed." AK-12 said as she spread ger hands, and AN94 beside her nodded in agreement.
"Oh? Do you recognize him?" The doll standing in front of the screen retrieved her data cable and fished out another storage medium, connecting it to the monitor.
"Yeah, Renault Security Contracting Firm. This guy, the paperwork to handle the company was done with the help of Statesec."
Although it wasn't the same branch as hers, Angelia knew exactly where Renault's security contracting contract came from.
"I can't believe Commander Renault is so bold as to blatantly park his ship at an airport in the middle of the city. He's really fearless." AK-12 shrugged ber shoulders, and as she was talking, she saw the intercepted images from the airport's surveillance appear on the monitor again.
One after another, dolls came out from the airship, the number more than fifty.
"It does look like it. So many dolls, it's more than enough to fight a war in the city."
Chapter 149 - Temporary Retreat
"Mission aborted, come back, the mission objective has been moved."
"But..." Looking at the Griffin guardhouse that was close at hand and already visible to the naked eye, the lieutenant standing on Typhon hesitated.
They were so close to rushing into that guardhouse, but at this kind of time, the other party actually took the mission objective away first!
"No buts, execute the order."
"Understood!" Listening to the serious tone on the other end of the communicator, the helmeted lieutenant reluctantly waved his hand behind him.
"Retreat!"
As soon as the words came out, the group of military figures behind him immediately turned around and ran back in the direction they came from, leaving the lieutenant standing alone on the high ground not far from the guardhouse, surveying the guardhouse below with his head down.
They had been watching the skies every now and then when they arrived and hadn't even noticed the shadow of that airship in Renault's hands.
According to the original plan, they should have been rushing straight down by now, directly stomping Griffin, the 'number one' security contractor in name only, under their feet.
After all, Griffin doesn't have too many heavy weapons in their hands. As long as that Renault, who has an unidentified flying object in his hand, doesn't show up, these Griffin doll forms are absolutely unable to resist the attack of the armored echelon on their side.
But these guys... actually did not use the power of Renault to repel that Sangvis Ferri mastermind without them first... When exactly did these Griffin dolls have this kind of power?
The lieutenant who could not figure it out shook his head, and after distantly exchanging glances with a conspicuous figure in the middle of the guardhouse, he directly turned around and followed the armored echelon that had already left a small segment behind.
"Sir, I think you should see this."
Hmm?
Looking at the image data that had been sent over, the lieutenant instantly frowned as he actually saw that the artillery positions set up on the Sangvis Ferri side had been shelled!
Although this kind of thing was not a big deal in the army's combat, the opponent opposite to Sangvis Ferri was Griffin! When did Griffin possess the ability to strike Sangvis Ferri from a distance!
"No... this explosion after-effect state... this should be an attack from the Sangvis Ferri Jupiter Cannon, right?"
"Uh, yes, it has been analyzed and confirmed that it is the Sangvis Ferri's Jupiter Cannon, but the direction of the shelling seems to be coming from above the Griffin S09 sector."
"Overhead?"
"According to the intelligence department's analysis, all of these attacks on the Sangvis Ferri's artillery positions should have been coming from the sky, but Griffin's side's rhetoric is just saying that there's infighting on the Sangvis Ferri's side."
"The sky... turns out to be so. In the end, it's still Renault that guy who's stirring things up all over the place, right? Can you lock down the location of Renault's ship?"
Sangvis Ferri had only just taken out the Jupiter Cannon not long ago. If he said that the shelling that attacked Sangvis Ferri's position this time was something that Griffin had messed up, then he definitely did not believe it one hundred percent.
"It could be true... after all, that guy doesn't seem to intend to hide his whereabouts, but that ship of Renault Security Contracting Firm, right now, has already entered the safe zone and is parked among the private airport not far from Griffin's headquarters."
"Scary! A private airport! Griffin's headquarters! Am I hearing this right?"
"Yes, sir, that's the factual situation."
"Where on earth did he get the guts..."
No matter how much their heads thought about it, they couldn't think of where exactly Renault got the guts to dare to do such things that defied common sense under the dual control of the military and Statesec!
But this all has nothing to do with them anymore. Their task now is just to return to the nearest base, and then use boring words to write out the report of this operation honestly and hand it in.
...
Gentiane, who felt that she had exchanged glances with the military lieutenant on the distant hillside, was also relieved in her heart after seeing those military armored echelons withdrawing.
It seemed that the military side was still doing things with a slight bit of bottom line, at the very least, there was no need to let these dolls under her command run to fight for their lives against those tin cans of the military.
If it was the armored echelon of Sangvis Ferri, she might be able to give her own dolls a boost and then find a way to fight with Sangvis Ferri. After all, Sangvis Ferri's chain of command is a tree-like chain of command, and the key to breaking the game often lies in the elite dolls of Sangvis Ferri.
As long as they found a way to break through Sangvis Ferri's elite dolls, most of those self-regulating units they brought out would have a momentary pause because they couldn't contact the mainframe.
The lack of a chain of command would also make those Sangvis Ferri armored units more vulnerable.
It wasn't a physical vulnerability, just a disorder in the chain of command.
And compared to Sangvis Ferri, the military side, a whole company of soldiers, in terms of command that is absolutely to hang Sangvis Ferri, combat efficiency must also have a great improvement, the main thing is...
The military this time sent over these guys, one big bag small bag, a variety of weapons and equipment complete, is definitely the military of an elite squad, coupled with the military tanks as well as heavy firepower...
Anyway, Gentiane will not use her own dolls to play egg against stone with these guys.
Standing there with a strong look before was just to keep the dolls under her command from panicking.
"Whew! Finally, it's gone! I'm exhausted!" Hearing the gesture from the doll beside her, Gentiane directly sat down paralyzed.
This time, it was fortunate that Renault had set up that artillery position, or else her side would have needed to spare quite a few people to hold off the Sangvis Ferri units coming from the vicinity of the artillery position.
"G36, tally the results of the battle, don't let some shameless guy come over and rub it away." While saying that, Gentiane looked back at the surviving dolls while speaking to G36.
As for the certain shameless guy she was talking about... that was of course Persica, who wanted a little bit of everything as a sample.
Now that there are so many Sangvis Ferri doll remains near this detention center, there is no guarantee that that guy Persica will not suddenly come to the door.
However, Gentiane preferred to recycle these doll bodies, and sell them directly to the IOP for a large sum of money!
G36 also immediately mobilized those dolls that could still move, beginning to clean up the battlefield near the guardhouse. The entire S05 precinct and the entire guardhouse were all under the responsibility of Gentiane, so this matter of cleaning was no exception.
With the dolls freed from their tasks, Gentiane also took a long breath and from her pocket took out the cell phone she got from Renault, checking the inexplicably extra chat groups on her cell phone, as well as the 99+ notifications that were displayed on the screen.
Chapter 150 - Alas, it's all a matter of business.
Gentiane: M1 Garand? What is this?
M1 Garand: Hey? Commander Gentiane? Ah, I'm sorry, I just pulled in all my contacts to save myself some trouble.
Gentiane: It's okay, I'm taking a break now. You guys aren't going to Griffin HQ, are you?
While replying to the message with her cell phone, Gentiane looked through the photos in the group. They all looked like they were taken in the city, or in the downtown area. Most importantly, she actually saw a group photo of SOP2 and AR15 in front of Griffin's headquarters.
These guys... She never thought they will run to the main entrance of the headquarters for a group photo, when they were in Griffin before they didn't do this, but now after jumping ship they remembered the main entrance of their old boss...
M1 Garand: Er, SOP2 proposed going to Griffin headquarters to take a group photo. The others probably thought it had commemorative significance, so they followed along to join the fun.
Although the doll started splitting up as soon as they got off the ship, Griffin HQ was not far from that private airport, so as long as they were interested, most of them would run over to take a picture first.
"Eh, it's still really free. What kind of days do the doll over there in Renault live? ... Hiss, it hurts all over!" Just as she was chanting, Gentiane was going to change her movements, but a sharp pain came from all parts of her body.
Just now when the battle was intense, not only was her brain heavily stressed, but her body also stumbled and rolled several times on the ground. She didn't feel anything then, but now, with relaxation, her body creaked and ached all over!
Ah, I do not want to move. Please send two doll to carry me back to the base. And then have a few doll help me eat and dress more comfortably.
Sore and aching, Gentiane continued to look at her cell phone in boredom, but the more she looked at it, the less she felt.
Those doll under Renault's hand, every single one of them, were either out shopping or eating and drinking. Even when they were leisurely, they were eating and drinking while touring the city.
They were having such a good time, and then she thought of her own miserable state...
Of course, what made Gentiane most unbalanced was the photo SOP2 shared...
Not long ago, M16 and RO635 were sent away on an official mission. Now they were already sitting together with SOP2, eating and drinking!
That's not fair! I want a vacation too! I want a vacation too! Where is the combat commander's legitimate vacation!
"Hey Commander, so you're here. I was wondering where you ran off to be lazy. Don't be lazy here, there's a whole bunch of reports waiting for you to write." Walking out from the middle of the glassless guardhouse, Kalina cleared her throat and pretended to speak to Gentiane with a calm demeanor.
"Huh? Kalina? What are you doing here? Hiss! Ouch, ouch, ouch!" Suddenly hearing Kalina's voice, Gentiane jerked her head back, resulting in another throbbing pain in the muscles of her back.
"Well, seeing that you guys didn't come back for so long, and the communication didn't respond, I could only come over to see how the situation is. Good thing the base isn't too far away from this side." Kalina had driven over, as there were no more helicopters for her to use on the other side of the base.
Rubbing her neck, Gentiane took a look at Kalina's current attire. It was still the same outfit she usually wore in the base, only she had put on a bullet-proof vest over her upper body, made a lanyard to put on her body, and had an AK74U hanging on her neck.
This appearance obviously showed she was in a hurry to run over.
Otherwise, why wouldn't she have taken the extra exoskeleton and full-body bulletproof suit from the base to put on? She herself was dressed tightly before running out; oh, she forgot to wear the exoskeleton, but she didn't forget the bulletproof vest and even added an extra piece of bulletproof insert.
Thinking of Kalina, who always wanted to empty her wallet on weekdays, now so anxious to run out to look for her, Gentiane couldn't help but pull up the corner of her mouth. This guy had more on her mind than just the wallet in her pocket.
Thinking this way, Gentiane couldn't help but nod her head in satisfaction.
"Luckily, Commander, you don't look like you're missing an arm or a leg, otherwise how else could you help me empty my inventory in the future..."
Who would have thought that Kalina's next sentence would directly stab Gentiane like an awl. Gentiane was suddenly dumbfounded.
This guy... really just worried about no one buying things before running over!
"Well? Why are you flabbergasted? This big bump on your head looks a bit scary. You didn't get a head injury, right?"
Hearing Kalina's words, Gentiane immediately felt anger surging up. The veins on her brain jumped straight up, and the big bump on her head became even more painful. So, while Kalina bent down with the intention of touching her head, Gentiane threw herself backward and directly lay down on the ground.
"Ouch! It hurts so much! Why doesn't anyone come to comfort me!"
Looking at Gentiane, lying on the ground and screaming like a child, Kalina was also a little confused. But she wouldn't spoil Gentiane; she could tell at a glance that Gentiane was pretending!
Without speaking, Kalina directly beckoned towards a short distance away, calling over a few doll who were clearing away the rubble, and stood behind Gentiane who had her back to them.
"Commander, get up. There's still a lot of work to be done."
"Not getting up! I definitely won't get up until I'm comforted by ten or eight people!"
Seeing Gentiane's small tantrum, Kalina directly raised her head and snapped her fingers.
Snap!
"Got it, right? Why don't you hurry up and go comfort your commander, and if there aren't enough people, bring two dummies over to make up the number."
With the sound of Kalina's words, several doll who came over to watch the fun also laughed and came over. Not waiting for Gentiane to react, they directly grabbed one arm and one leg each, and in the meantime, they also held Gentiane's back and moved her up.
"Ah? Ah ah? Ah hey! What are you guys doing!?"
"Sending you to the doctor for a checkup, of course." Kalina said with a tone of entitlement, and it was true.
That bump on the head alone looked scary enough. There might be some other injuries elsewhere, so it was necessary to have the doctor check it out properly!
"Wait! Wait! Put me down! I'm okay! Let me go!"
Watching Gentiane being carried away, Kalina naturally followed with a smile. But even Kalina couldn't help but rub her head with a headache when she thought that there were still quite a few matters that needed to be wrapped up afterward.
The location of this Griffin Detention Center has been exposed, with most of the facilities damaged. Plus, the Parapulei virus on the doll over here hasn't been completely removed yet, so it needs to remain here for a while to observe...
Coupled with the scheduling of all aspects of personnel and supplies... there is much more to do than simply writing a few reports...
