Some news and some rant (Patreon)

First, OHDOM 101-120 is back and now I'm verified in Patreon. A really good news. Meant after next week's HIA we can do a dedicated week for only OHDOM.

Now the bad news, the sites I'm getting my things is down again. And I didn't have any advanced Fics because on how hectic the week has been. It's gonna be a waiting time till Sunday for the verdict, I'm gonna pause the billings at Monday and stop activities here until it's back, ofc there are still 3 full days for waiting. It's either gonna be a nothing burger like last time or I'm gonna freeze everything on Monday.

It will be like another waiting week for me to open and have another set of Fics to dump here TL'ed and edited for fixing, ofc IF it's still not fixed.

Now it's rant time.

Now I'm gonna do a comparison of writing skills between Honkai Fics based on what I've read.

This is the criteria that I follow;

The best written one here is from top to bottom;

•OHDOM

•HIA

•CHIH

•GR

•WHAFI

Why OHDOM? It did best using the manipulative character shtick, while having an interesting MC(And not polluting the MC's mind with internet slang or Chinese slangs) as well as it did complex but simplicity over text nicely, characterization for every character is done well and every thing is considered well. Pacing is also da king.

HIA had a problem with it's early chapters (Specifically VOL 2) and had quite a problem with it's pacing, slightly. What did best here is the MC's plot development. Plot is well used and makes sense, system has presence throughout, and not just a plot device because the author ran out of ideas in the bucket unlike a certain fic here(Well get back to that later) it uses more internet/game slang but at the same time it's quite put nicely especially the sections for the announcements and side infos. Both this and OHDOM had great plot masterful control and can output them well.

CHIH, this one is basically enjoy Games into the Honkai-verse but Haxxor Bunny is an interesting insert in the world. This one took it's sweet time. It's not as strong as the two MC's due to Haxxor being an already established character, while the two grew, but Haxxor did slowly grow. Just not as fast. This is why it's below, not because it's characterization is bad, it's just that. MC plot development diff is just too great. The Plot is also good and established well, and yadayadayada.

Both 3 Fics done well in terms of making justice with how they've portrayed the characters very well. Plot is also masterful, CHIH is just a litter slower paced compared to the two but it did it's "React to Game" shtick very well and most importantly, it's not focused on "React to shit" for all eternity like majority of "React" Fics, it's focused on Haxxor giving "React to this" and getting involved in the world.

Now let's go to the last two. I've enjoyed this too well. One has problems due to the author and one has a problem due to the author being a noob.

Let's begin with GR.

The MC is literally focused on Griseo + Valks. The fic is focused on this as they interact in Arknights. This is the main reason why most read it. Not because it has masterful plot nor good characterization. I also am one of them.

You see, Arknights is a game. And it has a story. A story filled with violence and conflict. It's impossible to write going about in Terra without involving fights.

The problem is that the author isn't good at making fighting scenes and even tournament arcs like the Major fried their brains it became basic and mid. They even said it themselves. The other problem is the author heavily relies on viewers interest on the direction of the fic. He preferred writing Mobius but has to keep writing Griseo's arc because the interest of the people isn't high enough for him to abandon the arc. Plot is basic.

MC? Well, they relied on Griseo's persona and clung to it hard. And it's showing glaring problems at other Valks.

Pacing also took it's sweet time and for the wrong reasons too. It's pretty much enjoyable and this problems aren't really noticable too much until you scrutinize it. You can half-turn off your writing brain to it and can enjoy it.

WhaFi... Hmmmm. I won't comment for now until a day after I upload it. What I can say is that it's the most infuriating fic to edit that I've done.
