Not being an apologist for Roslin at all, because I think that given her physical and mental condition, she should have already stepped down from the presidency, IMHO, but the reality is that she is stoned on whatever drugs she is taking, and has people blowing smoke up her ass because of her position. Couple that with the existential threat that the rest of the Capricans are dealing with which can only double-down in the face of her cancer diagnosis, and people will tend to make some utterly borked life choices and invent reasons that are bigger than themselves to justify them.
