I'm a bit surprised arakil is so upset about luck, it seems like being lucky would be the worst thing for him. Having no luck means that every spell he has ever performed has been a result of his understanding of magic and his preparation. If he ever needed luck I imagine he would interpret that as failure, basically fate itself telling him he is not good enough.

Maybe he's unlucky because he's the god of magic. Magic in general is basically forcing the universe to change to fit your desires. Luck is sort of the universe caving to or rejecting your desires, good luck when it caves, bad luck when it rejects them. So maybe the universe gave Arakil bad luck as a form of balance?
