NEW SERIES TIME!! You guys & gals asked for it, so here we are: finally starting my journey through Netflix's "Dark".

(I'll be watching it subbed per viewer request/preference)

I can already tell that I'm going to REALLY enjoy this one, though I'm also going to have to take a LOT of notes lol. Funny enough, for a small, sleepy German town, there's a LOT of people living in it, and even more secrets hiding under it's surface....

Any and all feedback is welcome regarding this series, which will follow my usual format. Thank you all as always for your love and support <3 (and yes, I will start working on Mr. Robot as well in the near-ish future)

OH MY GOD!! YAYAYAYA!!! i would recommend that you take screenshots of faces to match with names and get a good idea of family trees for this one!

CHAOStheory

you'll definitely need your notepad for that one 😁 edit: fyi there's an official interactive family tree which allows you to pick the season and episode you are at so you won't get spoiled. it's https://dark.netflix.io

Sólveig

oh hell yes

AnnaS

Oooh I was catching up on the penguin when I saw this drop. What do I watch first?!?!

Marlene

Ja, ich spreche Deutsch ;) And therefore I'm all the more excited to watch the original German version with you! Let's go!

Lukre Phoenix

I loved this series, it's in my top 10 of all time. I loved the fact that they had the entire 3 seasons plotted out before they started filming and they stuck to their plan. And also the fact that the seasons dropped on Netflix on the date that is central to each season. Can't wait to see how the rest of the season(s) go.

Holly Robertson

This series is in my top 3 of all time. I'm SO FUCKING EXCITED for you to experience it for the first time!

Valaree

The casting on this show is phenomenal.

doodleydoo

I'm pretty sure people have already told you this but there's this official website where you can input the episode you've watched so you can better understand characters without being spoiled https://dark.netflix.io/en

doodleydoo

This is one of my favorite series and I'm really excited for your reactions and commentary!

Watching this during the pandemic was a lifeline. Being told uncanny similarities shared with Oliver Masucci's face structure while on WFH Teams meetings ( along with 'black Chloë Sevigny & Mads Mikkelsen ') by coworkers and relenting that obtaining a GCSE A* in German was a fluke = still needed subtitles aside. DARK is one of the best series hands down. Enjoy!

Dark is so good im so glad youre watching it in original dub :) im from germany too and the og ver is just so much better

Valaree

You’re doing a great job keeping track of things! One minor correction, Erik Obendorf is not Ulrich’s nephew. You misunderstood a line… Charlotte was saying that Eric’s disappearance is like what happened to Ulrich’s brother. Eric’s father isn’t Ulrich’s brother.

doodleydoo

43:10 it is a very small town tho, one that crime almost never happens... one kid is already enough for the fear lol

Melissa

I'm STILL angry that Netflix denied these incredible writers a S2 and S3 of 1899 . Like when I think about it, I want to punch something. 👊

Jimmy

Highly recommend the cheat sheets on reddit that explain the family trees. You can select by episode so there are no spoilers.

Jimmy

The show is confusing so don't hurt yourself trying to understand everything, it's a slow burn and after watching your other reactions youre smart enough not to miss alot.

rese

Little context on the candy wrapper because I feel like this is something Germans can pick up on, but probably not people from elsewhere. Raider is what Twix used to be called in Germany and they changed the name to Twix in the 90s. So potential time travel clue! (though I never watched the show so if it was just random trash nevermind)

Tim

There is a spoiler free family tree on dark.netflix.io You can choose the episode you are on and its shows the characters and their connections up to that point

lol

wow doesn't the tree for s1e1 kinda have a spoiler by implication?

Anaïs

Maybe rewind a little but when you taking notes it’s the kind of show you need to looks at the screen

João Carlos

Just a little heads up, the missing one back in the day was not Ulrich brother son, was Ulrich brotjer himself.

João Carlos

Pause as much you need.

Vivian

You will need a lot of notebooks and pens ready

MovieMan101

Appreciate the trivia, that really does help to add some foreign context for me :)

Inkpendude

Had to join patreon for this one

FinnSebas

Your Interview... reactions and now 'Dark'. This Finn had no option but to join🇫🇮

elise i

39:56 "everybody's connected" oh you have no idea lmfao

Madeleine

I loved your iwtv s1 and s2 reactions over on youtube and now you are watching DARK?? I watched s1 years ago and then was way too confused when s2 came out because I didn't remember who was who. So I decided to join your patreon now so I can watch it again with your notes! I'm German & I think you're mostly doing a good job with the names. "Ulrich" is a bit difficult, because the CH is a hissing-like sound that doesn't exist in English.

AngryGreen

I joined because of your IWTV reactions and loved them, but then saw you're doing Dark, my favourite TV show of all time, so I'm sitting here in anticipation (and impatience) for this. Honestly, your paper is going to have to go, you need a whiteboard, red string, 50 coloured markers and a chaos mindframe to get through this. Cannot wait for the end and you've only just dropped ep. 3 😂 I really do hope your enjoy this as much as we all clearly did!

Tailith Skywalker

< SPOILER > I watched this last year. It was the one time I can confidently say I felt like I was trapped in purgatory and someones' idea of mercy was to show me characters that died over and over and over and over and over. I'm just here to watch someone else suffer . . . with glee I watched it in German as well, dubbing loses all the nuances but if you accidentally double sub the differences in translations can be weird and distracting.
