Lestat is being incredibly cringe in all of these promos. It’s fun that they’re leaning into it before the show comes out but I trust this facade will get demolished pretty quickly in the show itself - we know from the first season that he’s volatile and unable to control his emotions. No way he maintains this fake detachment for long.

They also released the single "Long Face." The Vampire Lestat is now an official artist on major streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, YouTube, etc. Daniel Hart has also finally re-released his album "The Orientalist" on Spotify and Amazon Music. It includes the song "Black Licorice," which is rumored to be in TVL's repertoire. There was a video from the writers' room early last year showing the song being rehearsed. Yes, there will be seven episodes. But, in an interview with EW in December, Rolin said that "for him, it's the first of two parts. People should be prepared."

funnily enough, most of the cast are quite offline like you were saying about gary oldman. jacob, assad, and delainey all post very minimally, and sam's not on any social media at all (which is probably a good thing considering that some people can't tell the difference between a character they dislike and the actor playing them). apparently during season 1 he looked a little at what people were saying about the show and some people were being really shitty about him, so he stays away from it now. incredibly lame actually because no matter what someone's opinion about the character is, i feel like anyone with taste can agree that he's incredible as lestat. :/ eric is by far the most active on social media and engages with the fanbase a decent amount. he likes fanart and stuff lol (also i could be wrong but i think the "cancelled vampire" that eric was talking about is frank langella. he's spoken before about how he saw langella as dracula on broadway in the 70s and it blew his mind.)

Most of these top-of-the-algo interviews are kinda surface level promo, but if you’re interested in more in depth interviews with the cast on the post-S2 breakdown and thoughts on future direction (with potential light book spoilers from Sam, who’s a book fan), these are great with Sam & Jacob: https://youtu.be/l8b4o_DOi6s?si=qDgbxOwGV9rUKlMc https://youtu.be/GNdfbe58tno?si=oZh9Ml922PC5hfoO And this one’s a classic with great takes on Lestat as a character from Sam (*not the writers) from right before S2 finale aired, fan favorite long interview: https://youtu.be/MS_1KZh2RJY?si=WJLrSlcsJ6P2mggo

I'm assuming they'll drop song as episodes go by. I'm desperate to get my mum to watch Interview before TVL drops because she will LOVE the music without a doubt, but getting her to watch anything is a trial 😂 🙄

I think the big panels did well, NYCC I think was the better one? SDCC was too 'early' in shooting so they had to keep far more behind closed doors and Assad joined in NY which gave a LOT of good Armand vibes.

„Daniel Molloy, character of all time, hitting a guy up in the 70s for drugs and then almost dying to said guy, then almost dying to his boyfriend, and then coming back decades later with 2 divorces under his belt ready to divorce the guy he met in the 70s and his boyfriend, succeeds, and is now on a road trip with guy's ex-husband, now situationship, I love Daniel Molloy.“ It‘s a Telenovela….

There's a country called Passive-Aggressiveistan, and Lestat is its queen. Louis describes Lestat in a 1973 interview: "...trivial, vapid, vulgar, sterile, contemptible, frail, stupid..." A man made of dried twigs, with a thin, carping voice..." "...with all the emotional acuity of a monster." I don't think Daniel left THAT out of his book. So, Lestat does what... well, he does. You want the "vapid, vulgar, contemptible, frail" guy? You got him! Louis and Lestat are performative in their own way. Louis, for example, with his sometimes affected eloquence. In this season, the tone finally shifts. It gets dirty, cunty, smutty, bitchy, chaotic, and probably very romantic. You know how they flirt and get her attention... I don't think it's a spoiler if I write: The book follows the chronology; I started a band, read Louis/Daniel's book, wrote my backstory, and ended up in the present day. I don't think they'll follow that chronology in the series. Especially since major changes are already clear. They're not just adapting the storytelling and character arcs from TVL. That's what makes it so exciting for book readers, too. Yes, we know about major things. But we don't know how they'll adapt them.

Love watching you react to the promo! Only one thing you skipped in the full song "Long Face" that I think is super fun to point out: so much of this song can be said to be about Louis, as you say, but there's a part in the middle where he says, "Without a trace, you disappear, Pick up the pace, Pack up the gear *Gimme some face,* a souvenir" -- which is a direct call back to 1x03 "He did me some face and I drove him home--IHEARDYOURHEARTSDANCING" So not only is the song referencing Louis, but also referencing some of their pettiest moments ☺️

Also, don’t forget some of us would also love to see you react to Sam Reid’s other excellent drama on AMC, “The Newsreader.” VERY different show, but would be a really good one for your reaction style I think. We gotta get through this drought somehow!

Sam

I didn't know the actor Sam mentioned as his dream casting but he might be cooking here, especially since his call out wasn't for a cameo but a proper character.

Teehee, I second this! I know you already have a million and one things in your react to list, but I swear!! It’s worth it! You don’t know how truly insane Sam’s acting range is until you watch this show!

I think in this case, not being on social media is the best decision. I completely distanced myself from Twitter/X last year and only minimally engaged in spaces that I still consider "humane." And fandom is such a blessing and a curse. I find things like this totally enjoyable. But when they started releasing the TVL merch last week, the tone on Instagram changed drastically. I've been back on Twitter/X since last week for updates and the fan fest, etc., and I have to say, I'm shocked! Shocked at how the people who call themselves fans treat the cast. And I hope that someone like Sam, who seems to struggle a lot with this kind of thing, never sees it. I just find it disgusting how some people behave. It's no wonder people don't use social media. And then you see Eric following and liking all the fan art pages and showing appreciation. That's kind of uplifting...

I am fiending to hear your thoughts on the FanFest clip MovieMan!!!! 😍
