The thing is too, Usopp wasnt present to grieve with everyone. Everyone is going through in their own way and its understatement how he feels but Luffy still is the captain and should respect his decision. In that same token, Luffys approach to Usopp about the Merry was poor communication.

I agree with both of you. The Going Merry is both a home for the Straw Hats and a crew member.

Raph explains this Usopp and luffy situation so good this episode for his first time watching it. And so does Angy. I never thought about Usopp will never abandon his friends like the going merry.

I'm not gonna lie, I think Angy really explained Usopp's perspective well. I think Usopp definitely disrespected Luffy, so in a way you were both right at the end lol. But what I would say is, even though he was disrespectful and not accepting Luffy as a captain, he made some good points. For example, he said we don't have to travel together if we have a difference of opinion. He also said that just because Luffy is the man who will become Pirate King, doesn't mean he needs to go that high. These are just facts. How many of your day 1s will be there on the last day. Sometimes things just don't work out. I think Usopp was having a convo that he felt was needed, even if it came out badly, end of the day Usopp probably is doing the right thing leaving and not holding them back, and also doing what he wants and letting the others do what they want. It is sad, but it is honest. Lastly, I think the duel they had was Usopp's way of showing respect. Think about it. He learnt about duels having meaning from the giants in Little Garden. He wanted to fight Luffy for the ship, to create a situation where both of them can have pride in themselves. The winner and loser fight with honour. This was his way of saying, I challenged you because I have too much pride, but I am willing to face the consequences for my actions. It creates a situation where there is no way back, but there is also nothing left to hide. One of the best, most well thought out emotional fights in a shounen right here guys. No one will ever fully see this coming lol. Usopp going serious, even though he's seen as a joke for 200 eps by the viewers. Our own understanding of Usopp as a joke, was used against us to make this serious fight hit even harder. Sorry for the rant but thanks for the good discussion at the end, had me proper deep in thought lool

The beauty of these episodes is that it’s genuinely hard to choose a side. Both of them have valid reasons to feel the way they do, and there isn’t a perfectly right or wrong answer. That’s what makes it feel so real. It reflects how conflict works in real life. When people you love clash, both sides can be hurting at the same time. This moment hits especially hard if you’ve ever seen family or close friends fight, because you can relate to almost every Straw Hat in that room. Everyone reacts differently, just like in real life. It’s not some dramatic anime argument. It’s raw, emotional, and uncomfortable in the way real arguments are. That’s why the Usopp vs. Luffy conflict feels so powerful. I've personally been in situations in my life where i was like ussop or luffy and some others where i was like the rest of the crew. Oda knows how to pull these strings and make an interaction feel realer than ever. Water 7- enies lobby is the turning point of this show. you get to see a glimpse at arlong park, drum island and baratie, but here is where odas writing really comes into play. You havent even hit the peak of this arc just yet!

I understand ussop but he is way out of line watching back. Im glad luffy didn’t hold that last punch, ussop needed to hold that.
