Paypal, Palantir, and the destruction of Gawker media over the Hulk Hogan sex tape. We explore the oeuvre of conservative tech mogul Peter Thiel, who has had a big influence on the MAGA movement. In the process, we interview Max Chafkin, author of ‘The Contrarian: Peter Thiel and Silicon Valley's Pursuit of Power’.

Kinda like PG-13 Chapo.

Whenever I hear about Peter Thiel's ideology I always wind up thinking about Nick Land and the CCRU. Have y'all read any of their stuff?

Okie From Muskogee

The right has done a great job of messaging Soros as some kind of Boogeyman with no actual evidence that he's playing any kind of major role in shaping liberal goals. Meanwhile you got folks like Thiel and the Kochs who are doing exactly that on the right and they don't bat an eye.

Allen

And to the extent that Soros is important in shaping liberal goals, it’s not like the major liberal party in the US is doing much of anything good, or that Soros’s causes are anywhere near as far-left (to the extent they’re left at all, as opposed to merely moderately liberal/progressive) as the Kochs, Mercers, Thiel, Adelsons etc. are far-right. Rich people funding moderate liberalism is not an equal and opposite balance to rich people funding far-right borderline fascism (and sometimes not even borderline).

I would pay an additional 5 bucks a month for a "My Views with Travis View" weekly recap of lesser reported news stories

I'm enjoying Hikikomori Lake a lot! I was also wondering if you could tell me what track is playing on the old episode about Moloch? I relistened to that the other day and it's haunting me.

Irina Krier

Ok nice episode and all, but did you guys actually spend time debating *whether* he is really a far right extremist because the racism part was not obvious, when the guy actually openly said women shouldn't vote? This is a pretty bit tell of what he thinks of other people and I am not sure it's a big mystery. When you disregard half the entire population do we need to go look for whether he is actually neonazi or is that not bad enough?

Let's not forget the Prince of Darkness. Erik seem show up whenever the other guys or paying dictators are doing shady shit.

He plays Schrodinger's Nazi so that he can keep access to politicians and government contracts, but you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep. I don't think there's much doubt about where his beliefs lie.

You are probably right. That's a fairly common view among alt-righters into eugenics.
