This is one of my fav episodes ever omg. I was just like a year too old and missed club penguin, I was all in on neopets lmao. I feel like y'all would have a field day with a neopets episode tbh, there was a lot of weird shit going on in the early days, like scientology, the in game stock market, the neopets boards and the day the chat filter disappeared in like 2014, etc. Anyway thank u for the extremely informative episode about club penguin, I'm def a pookie hater now lmao.

I had never heard of this before! I wasn't extremely online in the early 2000s though, so lol. Although, right after the SecondLife ep, one of my prof's in a multi-media class had us sign up for SecondLife to view some art/multimedia exhibits, and I was like... Oh no. lol.

I am both terrified and excited to listen to this episode, as I was playing club penguin from the very beginning--or at least from before disney had even bought it. I oscilated between being a pookie/parent of pookies and being an anti a few times. I agree with the commenter talking about neopets although I personally was too young for neopets, it would be interesting.

I second whoever suggested neopets as the next community! I still play neopets and the history of it has been wild.

Toontown WAS way cooler, really unique prank-based combat system. Also the Youtuber Izzzyzzz has some pretty good videos on online communities like Club Penguin, Poptropica, and Neopets.
