I think there's a sense we've been lied to so much that just about everyone is clambering to be the first to expose a new one and to not be the last to be wise to it. Like a conspiracy gold rush where a couple people might strike the motherlode but most are just hootin & hollerin over a lost belt buckle. And it's 1000x easier when you're a callow teen and the "real world" where it (supposedly) matters what people say & believe is nothing but a threatening abstraction adults try to hold over your head, and yet somehow where adults are still rewarded for obviously confabulating exactly like your classmates used to about uncles at Nintendo. Why NOT try on the persona of a paranoiac flailing blindly at the lies that surround us?
