Chapter 319

Aeon

I felt glad that of the first few elves that I took under my wing, one of them finally achieved a domain.

A part of me feared for them, and a part of me still dreaded the separation of death that occurred with Jura. I would lose Laufen as well, though her eventual death as an elven woman was still at least many hundreds of years away.

Life would eventually end, even for elves with their exceptionally long lifespan. That is the way of the world.

But even for me, there are days when I feel a little weary. Tired. Just like Lausanne said. There are times, moments, when one wished for the simpler days of the past. Now I would not have to witness Lausanne’s permanent death, and that was a great deal of relief. I was fond of them, the first few elves that walked the path with me. They were there for me, and I was there for them. And now, one of them would live, for as long as possible. In Lausanne’s domain, I had an additional anchor to my early village of Freeka days.

It also felt nice, a sense of validation that my goal wasn’t wrong. I had supported her in her dream to be a hero, even if that journey took hundreds of years and a long detour through many worlds. She would now be a domain holder, with the powers similar to a hero. No matter the choice she made, it was still a significant step up in her strength.

So, while Lausanne pondered her new pleasant dilemma, the wider worlds continued to demand my attention.

Twinspace

Hoyia returned to Twinspace to continue the crusades for the cursed continent. As of now, half of the continent’s nations had already converted to Hoyia’s Temple of Aeon.

The level of expansion slowed around this point, for two main reasons. One, the number of priests and agents at Hoyia’s disposal was limited. Hoyia was increasingly concerned that once her area of rule expanded, there were not enough priests and agents to expand and properly steer the zealots.

The zealots were powerful. Their passion was real, but it was therefore really important to properly guide this fervor in a way that would lead to productive outcomes.

The second reason was really more of a number issue. With any significantly large number of people, there would be those who oppose for the sake of opposing. Those that felt a need to struggle against others and rebel against the norm.

Half of the inhabited Old Continent was more than good enough.

Hoyia’s followers channeled the zealots from their converted population. The most passionate were redirected to building ships and raising an army to sail on them towards the new islands. The islands at the middle were built into a rest and refueling stop, for them to proceed to the cursed continent.

They built 1,000 to 2,000 ships, and all in a few hundred thousand warriors would leave for the journey. Many of these would set sail for the Cursed Continent from the islands, chasing the dream of the promised land.

As with all acts of faith, there was a special ceremony to seek the blessings of their patron god. For assistance, for a smooth journey, and for a successful venture.

A few thousand warriors and a few thousand more spectators. The ceremony would be held across the cities simultaneously, though the main event that was a massive sendoff at the main port city.

Multiple platforms were constructed throughout the cities in order to host the event.

It would be time for her to summon a titan, and she made arrangements with Lumoof to make it a spectacle. It had to be. She asked for a beetle carrier to fly overhead. Its surreal, alien quality was something she wanted to exploit to properly cement Aeon’s role as an otherworldly god.

The first fleet would be referred to by many names by future historians, but in general we called it the Expeditionary Fleet, and the army that went to the Cursed Continent was referred to as The Army of the Promised Land. The names were something the priests created to help their appeal in the eyes of their followers.

There was a launch event, to flag off the first ships from the anchor points that would sail towards the Promised Land.

On a sea-facing platform located on the shoreline of their largest ports, Hoyia was once again surrounded by hundreds of thousands of spectators. Her group of priests began to sing. The singing, amplified by their priest powers, could be heard throughout the city, and it was as if everyone was sucked into a song, even if they didn’t want to.

The skies darkened, a mix of magic from various mages, and then, Lumoof appeared from above in the avatar form. He was tiny.

He was an actor in Hoyia’s scheme.

A role to play in the goal of solidifying their mythos.

The chants continued, and Hoyia’s priests sang to call on their god’s blessings.

The song and hymns intensified, and they timed it for the moment it almost hit a crescendo. The skies above changed as Lumoof activated his [avatar] form.

Everyone in the city looked up and saw a gigantic magical tree that covered the sun and clouds. An oppressive atmosphere descended on the entire city as their “god” came to their world.

“We are blessed!” Hoyia roared.

And as if controlled by the priestess, the crowd followed and roared. For a moment, the entire city echoed with the collective roar of the spectators, guided by her gentle, but stern voice.

Through Lumoof, a gigantic living beetle emerged. Its size cast a large shadow that caused everyone to look up.

It was larger than any of the ships that waited in the harbor, and was large enough to hold hundreds, if not thousands of beetles within its gigantic wings.

Its appearance made the crowd stare in silence, and awe. The beetle carrier floated in the air, then, as if woken from a long slumber, the massive wings began to flap. A burst of wind swept through the entire city.

“Our god has blessed our crusade and granted us one of its powerful servants to aid us on our journey! Together with our great expeditionary fleet, we will crush the demons!”

Throughout the continent, those who used some form of scrying magic to observe the event were all struck in fear, as the size of the gigantic beetle carrier overhead was myth and legend made real.

Spurred by their god’s perceived blessing, the first crusade sailed for the demon’s continent. A gigantic beetle-carrier flew above the fleet of ships, its winds helped the magical sails to go further, faster.

***

Privately, the Order knew it was just easier to use magic. But extensive teleportation magic just didn’t have the spectacle and emotional touch of a journey across the ocean. There were also not enough mages and wizards to teleport a few hundred thousand warriors and their supplies over an entire ocean.

But that would be solved later.

The mages of the Order began construction of a large teleportation array on the de facto capital of the Temple of Aeon on Twinspace on Port Tarfa.

Port Tarfa would be given a special title as its special place in the eyes of the Temple.

The Holy Port City of Tarfa would be the seat of the Matriarch’s primary temple, and rather than commission a grand temple, she got some druids from Treehome to grow a gigantic tree into the shape of a temple.

Ideally, she would have liked it to be a [node tree], but the actual node would be placed on the Demon’s continent to facilitate the conquest of the new continent. So this was the compromise they ended with.

The teleportation array would then be paired with another teleportation array on the demon’s continent close to the node tree, and the two would then facilitate fairly regular movement of people between the two continents without the use of ships or airships in the future.

***

The journey across the ocean took about two months, faster than expected due to some favorable winds and magic from the Order’s mages.

Hoyia wanted the first fleet to appear ‘blessed’, and so she had used her resources to ensure favorable winds. With things going well, the Expeditionary Fleet’s army was in high spirits.

Hundreds of thousands landed on the demonic continent and with the backing of the giant beetle carrier that flew overhead, nicknamed Gantry, war finally came for the cursed continent.

The landing site they chose would be where they founded the cursed continent’s first city, and the city would be later named Expedition’s Landing. The demons were fairly disorganized, and so the army of zealots were able to swiftly purge the area of demons and thus. The war to claim the cursed continent had begun.

These expeditioners quickly able to verify the Temple of Aeon’s claims.

The cursed land really was incredibly fertile and rich with resources. It was never mined, never farmed. Even with the demon’s corruptive blight.

***

Back on the old continent, there were rumors and news that began to spread. Wealth. Resources. Large untapped masses of potential farmland!

But no one believed it yet. After all, they did not see it.

The Cursed Continent was covered in demonic blight, and that same demonic blight tampered with magic. This interference was too much for most of the relatively lower level native mages of Twinspace.

But Hoyia knew she had to show results. Something to keep the nobles and the new zealots hooked. So, Hoyia’s expeditionary fleet hauled up large boulders of unprocessed ore. Most of these boulders were left untouched by the demons, filled with gold and gems, and were shipped back to the main continent.

She knew that day when the first ship, their very first ‘Treasure ship’ landed on Port Tarfa and unveiled what they had brought back from their very first landing post, the rush for the cursed continent would truly begin.

Treehome

“Everything’s okay.” Prabu said as he emerged from the biolab. “I feel great, actually. Strangely nice.”

He stretched. Did some small jumps. The man looked like he never aged a bit. Rohana, his daughter, looked happy. Relieved. The heroes had many children, though both Prabu and Colette have been fairly special with each other and only have Rohana.

She was much older now and in her teens. A human like her didn’t have much special skills, but as she began to age faster than her parents, I knew they would start to have strange thoughts about their children.

But it was a can they kicked down the road.

For now, everything is fine. In fact, things are better.

Our scheduled inspections post-soul spring operation didn’t indicate anything unusual, but after some regular battle tests later, we discovered there were small improvements to Prabu’s abilities.

We noticed Prabu stopped complaining about unusual pains in his head.

It wasn’t totally gone. But they were far less painful than before.

They didn’t hurt him in a primal way when we spoke about topics regarding demon kings and postponing battles. He could endure those conversations and retain memories of them.

I thus formulated a hypothesis that those protruding stones in their soul springs were ways the hero class influenced their minds. It warped the shape of the spiritual energy flows, and in doing so, they shaped their mind. All other classes did not have those protrusions. I’ve examined so many other Valthorns and individuals to know that classes do not alter the flow of mana from the ‘inner’ soul.

So, I quickly summoned the rest of the heroes for a similar inspection.

Not all of them wanted to let me work on their souls and clean it up, but they were willing to allow me to have a look in their soul spring.

I peered into the soul springs of Khefri, Adrian, Samuel, Rajah and Wira and realized that they all had multiple protruding stone structures that altered the flow of their souls. This was the equivalent of a tumor growing within their brains. It applied pressure on their minds, and thus, shaped and directed their behavior in a certain fashion.

Unless they were able to thoroughly purge and ‘clean’ their hero class like Colette, this did mean I could suppress and weaken the [hero] class’s mental influences and allow them to think with more clarity.

I believe if I wanted an honest discussion with the heroes, they needed to be able to think clearly.

Yet, of the five other heroes, only Khefri and Adrian wanted me to help them fix the protruding stone structures.

Samuel, Rajah, and Wira all were still a little apprehensive. They were still new, and maybe, still didn’t trust me fully. Rajah and Wira, in the larger scheme of things, were mostly out of the Order’s day to day activities.

Gigantadragon, the world that they came from, was still fairly independent, and with the enemy demon king slain, their world could get back to normalcy on their own. They still had multiple surviving large nations and cities that could invest and rebuild their old destroyed nations, and they did.

Samuel wanted to wait and see. The handsome elven hero decided, somehow, that the hero class is sacred and shouldn’t be tampered with. Perhaps it was a holdover of all the education from the Sacred Cherry Tree of Landas.

Regardless, I helped Khefri and Adrian adjust their protruding stone structures and clean up some of the accumulated ‘waste’ within their heroic soul springs. Just like with Prabu, I received a little more of the [heroic dust]. It was a strange thing, but I wanted to experiment with it a little bit more.

But with Khefri, this time I noticed there was something else in there. A differently colored rock within her soul spring. I didn’t know why I never noticed it before, or perhaps, because it was in the inner side of the soul spring, obscured by the turbulent star mana of her soul.

It had a connection to another.

This was a part of the [Pact of the Three], between the three powers of Threeworld.

It was how Zhaanpu kept some limited control over Khefri. Once I just gently touched it, it responded back to me and it felt like something I knew.

It was a skill, a [Contract].

A [Soul Pact of the Three].

[Soul Pact of the Three is invisible to its host. An ancient bond that ties all heroes to the three hegemons of Threeworld. It allows the Three Hegemons to exercise some control and influence on the heroes]

I knew that Zhaanpu had some ways of controlling Khefri. But now I know how.

I left it untouched, but I wondered whether I should let Khefri know. For now, I adjusted the rest of the protruding stones and removed the tampering effect on the flow of her star mana.

***

Threeworlds

Khefri returned to the world of Threeworlds feeling refreshed. Her mind was clear. Clearer than it had even been.

Somehow, when she stepped into her old palace, something she did out of habit, she looked around and asked herself.

“Why am I doing all of this?”

The more she wandered through her old palace, she truly didn’t understand what she went through. It didn’t make any sense. It used to feel comfortable. As if it appealed to a part of her. What was the harem of dancing boys for?

It puzzled her. The clarity of mind suddenly placed all her past actions under question, and she began to realize that they were coping mechanisms.

The [hero] class distracted her from things. She wandered her palace, and in the end, decided to go talk to Zhaanpu.

“You’ve come to see me willingly.” Zhaanpu said with a sigh. “What happened now?”

“Aeon removed some of the inhibitions of the [hero] class.”

Zhaanpu sighed. “He should not have done that. They exist for a reason.”

“Did you know this would happen?”

“Me? No. I have never seen it done. But heroes are dangerous. You can be dangerous. These inhibitions and distractions are how the gods ensure heroes remain functional and non-destructive in a world that only needs you for moments in time. The reality of being ripped out of your old world and placed into a new one is hard for you.”

Zhaanpu geared for a fight, as if Khefri was here for a showdown. Maybe it was Zhaanpu’s old past life’s experience. His past with heroes often involved showdowns.

But he didn’t get one. “No.” Khefri countered, as she realized Zhaanpu was prepared to fight her. He was worried that without the inhibitions, she would go rogue. But no. That’s not what she is here for. “No it’s not. Not for me. There’s no need for this.” Khefri said, as she realized that Zhaanpu’s fears were unfounded. “I have my fellow hero-friends, and as long as there is a community, I can deal with this. I just came to talk.”

That made Zhaanpu a little puzzled. “That is quite a surprise.”

“Yeah. I think you can just take back my palace and assimilate my old queendom. I don’t need it anymore.” Khefri said. “But I will return to fight the demons, as I must.”

“I see. This is an interesting turn of events.”

Khefri seemed to agree. It was great that there was a place that increasingly reminded her of her old home. The chaotic city life of Freshka was very earth-like, as were all the various entertainment and food options.

She should return to her fellow hero friends. Maybe they too need a friend in her.

What do you know when you steal someone from their life they become self destructive and angry at the world

Conrad Manaugh

Ah so nice the heros are making friends. I wonder if they will age without the soul stones, or if heros are naturally ageless from the class

Hello!

I wonder if Lausanne takes the [unchosen champion] she will have trouble with the void gates considering her new star mana possession? Ok so this is just a slight interpretation by me it might be answered in an earlier or later chapter, but to me in this world the soul has 2 layers, the outer soul, including the class holding the skill blocks and the inner soul, holding the vitality of the soul itself, their level cap limiter and what gets sent on after they die. So what Aeon gathers from the harvesters and seeds are the outer soul, so if he gathers the contract from the spring of Khefri will he be meddling directly in the inner soul?

Demian

I was kind of expecting for Khefri to start caring a little bit for her many progeny after her soul cleansing, kind of sad she just left them all with the discarded queendom.

Austin Byrd

It’s looking like she is going to…so you’ll probably get to find out lol But I really hope she doesn’t, that class sounds so stupid to me. I’ve been following this story since before Aeon was in hibernation and might have to give it up. At the very least I’ll be off Patreon. Expectations have been set the last 100+ chapters regarding Lausanne. If she goes some weird spiffy pseudo hero power route instead of getting closer to Aeon like Lumoof then my investment in this story is gonna lighten up considerably. So far I’ve been supportive or at least impartial to every decision the author has made during this journey, just letting the author take me for a ride. But pulling shenanigans like this when I feel like I was promised a certain kind of domain from Lausanne which wasn’t Starpower , and when a new character could just be easily raised as a domain holder to the Star mana person, and when we’ve got a handful of hero’s with Star mana already hanging around bored, it’s just bullll. I can’t support that. Some people are too caught up in the shininess and can’t see how it’s boring, terrible for Lausanne’s character, and terrible for the story - at least based off the promises/expectations from the author to us I’ve also been worried for a while that author just doesn’t want to introduce/juggle new domain holders. But wants several more effects at the same time like Star mana . And thinks this is hitting 3 birds with 1 stone by having a new domain holder, having it be Lausanne, and having it be star power. For a while now I’ve felt like we probably aren’t getting another dozen, or even one full dozen, domain holders. At least for a long time. Which I guess makes sense on the time scale, it’s only been like a century. So I’m mostly ambivalent I guess. But my point stands about the Lausanne. That star power class sounds stupid. I’m not here for it Didn’t even bother reading this chapter past where Aaron reflected on her power and then checking to see if one of the other POVs had her power. Guess I’ve got one foot out the door already.

Austin Byrd

Yup just went back and reread the domain choices. That hero one is so derpy. And congrats it lets Lausanne be broken OP. It’s gonna lower tension in the story because Lausanne + hero equipment is obviously the winning combo to beat the demons forevermore, sun stars included. It’s not clever because it’s utilizing the leftover hero equipment. And it’s not an honor that Lausanne gets to be the star mana domain holder. The option doesn’t need to exist, if author wants to find out what to do with the leftover hero stuff, then figure out what to do with the heroes or let aeon learn how to absorb the stuff or do something else. This derpy broken class, through Lausanne, will ruin this story. Even the wording of it has me flabbergasted “you always wanted to be a hero now you can” so I really need to say out loud that wish fulfillment fantasies, whether they be from the author, the fans, or the actual characters like right now, are not a good idea… there is supposed to be a overarching plot here, an outline of where this story is going, yet for some reason, I’m doubting that Lausanne becoming the Domain Hero Star Holder was part of the plan. You know why? 0 foreshadowing. Besides her sharing a vague dream of being a hero that countless other folks have INCLUDING every previous domain holder. Yet they didn’t make the cut. So Lausanne did because she’s special? But if she’s special where is the foreshadowing for her becoming a hero? Because her dream is such a reach… such a stretch to pretend there was foreshadowing there. So maybe it’ll be retroactively fixed in lore by aeon saying she’s not actually special for the hero option, it’s just offered because Aeon has reached a certain level… Regardless, all this damn effort. Just to force this. I’m here reading a story about a god tree spanning multiple worlds and you know what’s breaking me out of immersion? Thinking about the system offering Lausanne a domain starting with “you always wanted to be a hero..” because.. you know… she always wanted to be a hero…..

RandomGuy100

Hey, it's true that it's a bad choice, won't argue at that. But the System has shown many times already that it can offer wrong choices, and that it has a penchant for theatrics. As for selecting the choice itself, that's the fault of the readers, not the author. Blame them, not him. Or I suppose you could also blame him for attracting that type of reader with low literacy level or trusting them in the first place. Even Jura's death was caused by them. But considering the narrative impact it made and how the story turned out, all I can say is just trust the author and hope for the best.

RandomGuy100

The current formula of the world seems to be powerful = power bleeding off everywhere = power nourishing the body = ageless. So considering that Heroes are still powerful, and now perhaps even more so, I'd say they're still ageless.

Austin Byrd

Let’s try a story: There was a girl who grew up with her grandfather who was a general. Because he was a general, sometimes there were horseriding soldiers that came by. As a young girl she always wanted to be horse soldier to protect people and help her grandfather. As she grew up, she faced reality that only certain people could be horse soldiers and she wasn’t one of them. However, she didn’t let that stop her from goal of protecting people and helping her grandfather. She became a normal soldier since she couldn’t be a horse soldier and worked hard. Decades passed and she finally was about to achieve a promotion to the highest ranking position she could achieve. With it, came a boost in power and from previous people of similar rank, there even now was proof that they could achieve everything one of those horse soldiers could achieve. And then right before accepting her new rank, that she achieved with rigorous practice using her own natural born mana and effort, she is told “hold up: before you accept that promotion that you’ve worked your whole life for and which will enhance all your natural qualities! Instead, how about we give you the horse after all. And you can still be the same rank! But you’ll be a horsesoldier instead. We can just ignore any closure of a life of hard work well done, any gained wisdom in accepting who you are instead of wishing you were something your not, and any excitement in what the next phase of your natural evolution might bring to the self built natural abilities you’ve used for decades; instead let’s just make you a horse soldier !! Ya know, because that’s what you wanted when you were a kid. And everything you’ve experienced since then, your struggles, your acceptance over who you are as a non horse soldier, your climb to the peak of power regardless; there’s no value in that.. what’s more important is reestablishing that you wanted to be a horse soldier and now finally you can, aren’t you lucky.”

RandomGuy100

Well, it's not like I don't agree with you. In fact, I've argued against Champion just as much if not more. But face it, the Patreon readers have chosen, and we have to accept it and live with it. Hopefully it'll make a good story, for example by making Lausanne able to reconnect to Aeon in the future or building a friendship with the Heroes including accessing the Journal. Solves the Caval problem too with how she can bypass item restrictions. Just... consider it a slight detour to gain experience and widen her skillset, alright? Think of it as a gap year. Wastes time a bit, doesn't help you much, and doesn't look good on your CV. But it is what it is. We make mistakes, but we learn lessons from them, and we'll do better next time. For Lausanne it'll be at lvl200. It's not like she doesn't have a history of straying from Aeon and wandering around aimlessly, only to come back with him. That's what elves do.

Austin Byrd

To your points: 1) I hadn’t actually realized this was a story where the author followed the fans. That’s disturbing. No wonder the plot has been so bumpy at times even though the author seems good. I despise stories like that, fans are idiots, I’m not gonna allow myself to to continue to be vulnerable to a story that I can’t trust, and trusting the consensus with a group of fans doesn’t grow your fan base or make for a good story. Probably why Tree of Aeon’s isn’t the most popular even though author is consistent and good. And 2) once was enough. If Lausanne decides to abandon her responsibilities/duties to Aeon for a second time.. when she’s perfectly fine reaping the rewards of her princess status.. then I’m done with her regardless. Wanderlust sounds fine once. More then once is annoying. So she can just uproot and decide to abandon responsibilities or go in an unanticipated direction at any time due to her being an elf? What a poorly designed character. It would remove any growth/development. We already went through several chapters of Lausanne learning from those experiences? Now she’s just gonna pretend she hasn’t learned anything because “ooo pretty shiny! I choose hero class!” . I really hope that’s not the case No it’s not okay for Lausanne to just go in a completely different direction from everything that’s been set up for her the last 100 chapters. This isn’t her straying or a slight detour. I don’t forgive her the way I forgave her going off to be a valthorn spy. She’s not a child who needs to massage her ego by pretending she’s something important. She has accepted who she is, has grown over decades, is powerful in her own right, and on her own, has become someone important. To suddenly change into this dirpy psuedo hero is a pathetic joke and disservice to her and disservice to us readers. If it happens, it’s a deal breaker for me, sorry mate . It’ll be sad to let this story go but I’m not gonna just keep reading after something so idiotic plays out. When you ignore warning signs, worse stuff happens in the future. I didn’t know that Jura was killed off by the fans. Thanks for explaining that and see what I’m saying? And I’m not sure killing Jura off was good for the story like you said. Sure, the author recovered great, and made it work but was it actually necessary? Did the story need Jura to die? Was the story set up, thematically and with foreshadowing for such a crucial characters death? Not really no. It just kinda happened. This story wasn’t about that. It was a dagger in the heart for 0 reason. So now that you’ve said it, it makes complete sense that it was the fans idea. If I knew that then, then I could have quit then, and wouldn’t have to experience this author considering screwing with Lausanne next. Yeah… all good things gotta end eventually. We’ll see what this author does because if he follows the fans instead of following his promises/expectations that he’s set up from previous chapters - then I’m out

RandomGuy100

To clarify, it was about the first Titan choice. Had Bamboo been upgraded instead of activating Hytreerion, then Jura would have survived. Not clear if the Patreons at that point knew it'd happen, but Hytreerion certainly hasn't been all that helpful except for parades and show-offs. Do you not use Discord? Either the Patreons could ask to clarify somethings or suggest some ideas and the author might like it, or there could be posts that are votes that the Patreons can choose. The votes I know of are: First Titan choice, Aeon's lvl200 Subdomain, Aeon's lvl250 choice, and the recent Lausanne choice. Filter posts by poll Sure, this time it's been... disappointing. But for Aeon's choices I'd say they did well, and for the Titan choice it could be that they lacked information on the possibility of Bamboo saving Jura's life. And even then they did vote for Patreek, which turned out pretty useful.

Austin Byrd

Nah I don’t, maybe I should lol. But if the choices are structured correctly then I guess it’s whatever. I remember liking each of the options for each of those picks. I either like or at least am curious about how it’ll play out. **I’ll agree that they did well with the ones you just mentioned. Also agreed about Hytreerion. But then his other titans potentials are super interesting bait but almost feels like a tease at this point. And interesting about Jura. If it were a situation where author tied jura’s death secretly to one of the polls and killed jura off specifically because the bamboo wasn’t upgraded … then that is pretty sad. It would be good for like a goosebumps story but this is a story we are invested in and there was already enough death and destruction at that time. Jura could have become the first domain holder. He could be unofficially leading the pantheon underneath Aeon. Or at least be the last piece of the triumvirate that we are now expecting out of Lausanne. And then if that were the case, Lausanne could continue acting out and do the hero role or the god slayer role or any role she pleased and it’d be whatever. However; Jura’s dead and the literal only character, in the entire story, who has the prestige to take up a leading role next to Lumoof and Edna as the 3 points the that are leading the charge under Aeon… the 3 leaders each with a slightly different role representing different aspects of aeon; edna with her knight principles, Lumoof with his priest principles, and Lausanne with her humanism principles. The author captured me when he wrote the part about Lausanne telling Edna that she wants to represent Aeon in the pantheon because no one’s watching out for him and his interests like she can, instead the rest of the pantheon, out of necessity, has begun to shift to helping to control and direct Aeon’s interests and interpret in their own manners. Lausanne has a role to fulfill, and it undercuts her for her to do it from a position of Star mana instead of a position of ‘the one who has a deep connection to aeon without being a priest’. Sure she can do it anyways, and she still has the unofficial connection with aeon. But it’s not the same. But this is the first time I’m actively against a choice . Because author usually sets it up so that the choices all still work. What’s happening right now is unacceptable, for me, at least. I’ve said it before - the 3 choices should have all been different Aeonic subdomains. This hero crap and the god slayer crap is, well, crap.

Austin Byrd

Just re read the powers again. Smh. Deus ex machina. Both the hero one and the anti god one. And what is up with them anyways. They do not represent her life. Every domain holder was given choices that represent their life. She should have been given some Aeonic Warrior Mother Princess class type themes. Four themes. The Huntress is thankfully close enough to that.. Smh how easy it would have been to think of two more class options based on those 4 themes of Aeon, Warrior, Mother, Princess Even if the author intentionally restrains her power (after giving her one of the deus ex machine domains). Meanwhile the author could make her twice as strong with the Huntress class , without it feeling deus ex machina. You wanna know why? Because the story set us up for her to inherit/be able to wield Aeon’s powers. The story did Not set us up for her to randomly acquire Star Mana. And she didn’t even particularly despise the gods either, or even demons (which might maybe be a reason to help justify that Star mana bull). Instead, there’s a reason she was in semi retirement and has been just chilling before she got reinspired (largely to help aeon…) and and started grinding levels again domain holder. She cares more about what’s happening at home, now that she’s had her adventures. We’ve literally been there while she went through that growth. Yet she is supposed to now get a domain to be anathema to gods? Also stupid!! How stupid can it be. There is only 1 choice. Maybe he could have worked some of the domain abilities of the Star mana or god slayer domains into two other options that but still have subdomains like Aeon’s Huntress. Or better yet… do what I first mentioned with my four themes I just worked off the top of my head concerning what Lausanne’s life has consisted of. Regardless, I’m at least excited enough to see if Lausanne will make the only correct choice lol. Authors got me hooked there at least.

TFTC! I'm glad the heroes are getting a bit of a fix up on the whole mind control stuff

I've written two entire essays about this topic on Discord lol. But about half is similar to what you're saying. If you read the previous chap's comments, you'll see me desperately pleading for people to change their minds. But as I said, it's done. Best you can do is beg the author on Discord for another introspective chap and hold the vote again, but that's unlikely to happen. You can try tho. It can only turn out the same or better.

I have to agree, and in the end the author has made it clear he's more interested in the worldbuilding rather than the fighting. Lumoofs choice was surprising for me as it seemed to be the solution for Aeons influence platueing on other worlds, but instead having a copy of Aeon was chosen, which was clearly going to be strong, but not much else. Ednas seemed to be the solution to making her reach divinity abd even seemed to be a good way to have increased contributions from the population. Ednas choice i was fine with, but Lumoofs seemed ridiculous.

Well, they do need a way to reliably solo DKs and any higher tiered opponents the demons can unleash without relying on the mentally unstable Heroes that can't operate in Void mana environments. As they themselves said, leave the utility options to the utility Domain holders, choosing them will just stunt their own growth and war potential. Besides, both Edna and Lumoof have never been quite dedicated to utility purposes. Lumoof's utilities have always been acting as Aeon's ambassador and way to participate in fights. Choosing Avatar will only help with that, and even allow for transportation of Heroes too!

I don’t understand the reasoning that they need a reliable way to solo DKs. I’ve seen a lot of people say it. What with all this searching? They just need to continue getting stronger. I don’t think the board needs to be flipped. I think Aaron creating a pantheon of lvl. 150+ normal class holders is the way and was the board flip. And the story moved away from star mana so this fixation on star mana is jarring.. I like Star mana but we skipped Aeon incorporating star mana and went straight to let’s mutate Lausanne’s character. And Lausanne’s class from a symbolic point of view should be Aeon’s Huntress. I like what it represents. I hate what the symbolism for Lausanne becoming the pseudo hero class represents. It’s interesting, I’ve always gone back on forth on who the Voice of Aeon might be. Lumoof obviously but I was ready for Lausanne to be his Voice while Lumoof is just his Head Priest. And both of them are Avatars. And soon Hawa will be there as well as a few other random domain holders. Another void. And some other knight and ranger types like Ebon. I was so excited for the line up. Screw the hero’s and screw our best girl trying to become one out of nowhere, what a joke

I don’t know if I’m remembering correctly but doesn’t aeon have star mana ? Not much of it and he absorbs it passively but star mana nonetheless. So in the 2nd domain choice she would potentially get star mana a soul forge and be able to be linked to aeons root network and being able to turn trees into aeonic war treants. Like the the second option is exceptionally vague which could mean the author doesn’t know what to do or he has ideas in mind 🤷🏽‍♂️ but personally I think the 3rd option is completely garbage like all she would get is star mana and we literally have like 7 heroes PLUS aeon who can use star mana . And it said she would NOT get a hero forge so the only way I could think of moving that option viable is if she find another application of star mana, but star mama is from the gods and the hero’s who have existed for quite some time it would be hard to believe she would discover something new there yk . Whereas the 2nd option is vague and there is room for growth being a “similar“ version of aeon, who is a newly ascended god who doesn’t have a grasp on all his powers and I’m sure Lausanne could could different applications for ways to use his powers. WITH THE ADDED BONUS OF BEING ON THEME WITH THE STORY. Like I get she used to want to be a hero and everything but she already is a fucking hero even without star mana so are ALL THE VALTHORNS. So personally as someone who has read the story from the beginning till now several times between waits I genuinely dislike the options of domain choices. And if your a reader and chose the 3rd option … smdh do a reread plz . It’s kinda like all the chapters where we just sat with Lausanne and watched her growth as a character get throw down the drain for a childhood dream that she and everyone else has already achieved like they literally save WORLDS PLURAL from demons who want to assimilate everything how are they not heroes. It’s like we’re getting a consolation prize and idk how I feel about that but imma stick beside him(author) no matter what. And if you read this plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz DONT go with the 3rd option all of Lausanne growth is down the drain and all the world building and character development and in world common sense and relationships between characters ( ie aeon and his harbinger Lausanne) is completely strained and forgotten. As a person who fell in love with your story I choose the 2nd option fuck the fan vote they don’t know what they want, they just expect you to deliver something worthwhile. I feel there no substance to choice 3 like it’s one of those trick questions on a test that comes 99 percent close to the correct answer but falls short by that 1 percent and you fail.

And also I’m rambling but I would like to think that your just throwing us for a loop here and your going with aeons huntress this line from blossom was to good for her to just be an of brand hero with star mama but no hero forge. “The decades since Aeon’s presence had made Mountainworld into a safe place. She would like to help spread that presence to more worlds.  Everyone deserved freedom from a plague that did nothing but destroy.” Like if this isn’t aeons huntress then who is this… and also the third option makes no sense if she just gains star mana when aeon can literally just give her a hero class and then she would gain star mama and a forge and she can make her own weapons I instead of using a hero’s sloppy seconds . Please be throwing us for a loop I beg
