Blacktide

The meeting, has some issues... /We need to get in touch with civilisation as fast as we can/ When she said this, I thought... why? A question that was not answered. I mean they've gone 20 years without being in touch with civilization, will a couple more months, or even a year or 2, really make that much of a difference?

Cameron S. Moore

‘Cause they’re lonely, picture this corona thing lasting for another 2 years (human-ish timescale of 200).

So Lausanne is reincarnated and she’s from earth? If that’s the case i really didn’t see it coming. And I guess she’s the shooting star that didn’t arrive at the destination like the rest of the hero’s?

Akaeye

But, there wasn’t much I could do about the demons and heroes. Not with my powers. So after my anger, I grieved for my lost time. I felt sad. I felt lost. I wondered what the purpose of living was, Aeon. Have you ever felt like that? Wondering why do you even exist in the world, like... why did I reincarnate into this world? I wanted reason, I wanted to know. I wanted to see a bigger picture.”  Could definitely be normal reincarnation but would be a really cool twist

Akaeye

I mean, she does kind of act like a reincarnater, I never noticed before but the hard work must get better is kind of their thing.

I feel like you might want to redo a part of this or expand on what Lausanne meant when she said about being reincarnated. That feels a little to confusing at this point, because it implies that she is a Hero as well or at least has memories of a past life, which has never been demonstrated or touch on before. From my prespective and based on what others have comment, I get the feeling you mean reincarnation as in the normal incarnation process, IE samsara or the cycle of souls. In other words not Isekai just another soul making the journey through life, death and rebirth...

treeaeons

ah. i actually meant to just say regular reincarnation, not a hero o earthet. the world they live in believes in reincarnation afer all

Alex I

Yeah the elves believe that spirit trees guide them to their next life so them believing in reincarnation was a given.

is this Treeason!? Naw man.. Lausanne should go out and explore, see the world. TreeTree works on a different time scale, particularly with this mess, though... I wonder if his remaining Rod of TreeTree can be used for this... or is he keeping it for reestablishing control over the volcano?

If I need to honest I would say this is the worst chapter of the all novel for now, with that I don't mean in a technical level, but with wasted potential. We always saw Aoen as a "machine", passive and doesn't care about anything apart himself, and that is not at the level of egocentric, but a level of machine that does not care about anything. This chapter would have been the best to somewhat see Aoen have some emotions, we saw rage and then stop, he just rationalized that rage to coming back to that machine. It would have been better to see him somewhat care about Lausanne, like a father that she never had, saying something like "even if you are not a hero, try to act like one" or shit like that, a goodbye that is a "I'm proud of you". I would say that one of the worst flaw of this novel is how machine is the protagonist, I would not say that he needs to be always emotional, but there is a need to remind us that he is alive, and not a machine. And I think this chapter is a wasted opportunity to remind us that even if Aoen is a 100yrs old tree that care little about anything apart himself, he is still alive somewhere on his treecore.

hey. thanks for that. you're probably right. honestly, i have been struggling with depicting aeon as more "alive" and "human".
