This album was fresh to me, although Mac is one of my favourite artists (my first tattoo was a Mac tattoo as well as a frank ocean one and we share the same birthday) I try to avoid leaked music because if the artist wanted to release it they would. Anyway, I listened to this while I was away for my birthday over the weekend and it’s safe to say it broke me into a very small dishevelled man!👍

I think it’s interesting that Mac indicated he wanted to release this in case of his passing, and to me it makes the album hit much harder with the themes he talks about. Great reaction as always I was going to recommend this album but you beat me to it haha.

Also another line that was a tough listen was “I didn’t think anyone died on a Friday” and Mac died on a Friday IIRC

funny papers has been one of my favorite mac songs for a couple years now, very happy that more people will get to hear it now that it is on streaming services. think you guys would enjoy his jazz EP You by Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival

I’ve grown to love this album over the past week - I was a little disappointed after my first listen but now that I’ve had some time to digest its meaning and purpose, it’s becoming one of my favourites by Mac.

Don’t think you’ve done it yet but faces is the follow up to this one and it’s a sad but interesting view into his mindset at the time. They were recorded around the same time so who know what came first but faces definitely feels like a decent into madness a little bit. Definitely worth checking out.

I can only recommend you guys react to ScHoolboy Q's Blue Lips. Not only is there a track that's essentially dedicated to Mac, but it's also a culmination of Q's work. The record is filled with energy, melancholy and love for the craft. One of the most refreshing gangsta / conscious rap albums of the last few years!
