Excited to see your reaction to season 3.

So basically, the original roswaal has been replacing his descendants souls with his own, so technically it’s still the original on the inside. That’s what I gathered from that

VINLAND WHEN???

Araragi Senpai

I love how the author used the differentiation in how Roswaal addresses himself with a different "I" twice in there. Once he falls to despair before Emilia catches up with him, he says "watashi..." then rectifies it into "boku wa" which is the more immature, less formal way to refer to himself that he used to say in the flashback, when he lived with Echidna, Betty & Ryuzu. It's showing that without the facade of nobility he carries around for his goal, that he had while he was following the Tome's directions and crumbled here, it's revealing once more the real, fragile Roswaal, asking "Sensei, what should [boku wa] I do now?" Then the second time is in the tomb, when he's having his one to one conversation with Betty. Exposing his real self by saying "boku wa" as he used to do, coupled with the "sensei" to refer to Echidna, makes Betty realize he's THAT Roswaal from back then.
