hello everyone, I'm working on improving stability, uncached full files will take a while to load and imports are a bit backlogged both due to bandwidth. Thank you.

Hey all, here's the BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN dooo do doo do do doooo

First off, shoutouts to Yushu Xiao for inspiring this idea.

I am going to be doing a Live JoJo's Manga read-along, reading through the chapters that match up with the Friday episode after I finish watching and reacting as usual. My Jojo's vids take a couple hours to record, then about an hour to edit, then another hour to render my (during which time my computer just has to sit there and hum, if I do anything it messes up the video). Once the vid is uploading I can run stuff like OBS without much trouble.

I've been wanting to add SOME live content to my repertoire, and this is just the perfect opportunity to do so. I'd love to have some more direct connection to y'all, y'know?

I'm not *certain* at this point whether I'll be able to show the manga panels as I go (I really want to be on the up-and-up with copyright, especially with a work as deserving of support as JoJo's), but a few of you have said it should be acceptable. Something like half the screen is panel, half the screen is my ugly mug, and we geek out about JoJo's together.

SO. That's gonna happen. For sure. Because it's too good to NOT do. Buuuuuuuuut if I'm doing live content, that comes with a decision of *where*.

Thus the poll. In your opinion, which streaming platform would be better for the purpose? Youtube Live or Twitch? I have some experience with Twitch, and zero experience with YT Live, so I thought I'd outsource the decision to y'all and, in the process, make the first CommitTeea poll. Whaddya think?

To be honest Twitch is fine for readthroughs of manga chapters and such as far as I know. Youtube is better for those types of things in terms of exposure but I'm pretty sure sometimes on rare occasions they'll just take it down if you have the manga chapter in the video. Maybe you ought to capture it on your computer as a recording if you'd want to upload it / intergrate it with the video for youtube because Twitch VOD system sucks.

Yeah I can (and would plan to) capture it myself. Got the hardware to support it if necessary, and I use OBS for recording anyway, just because I'm familiar with it. I'll do some tests, but it shouldn't be a problem to stream at Twitch or YT's bitrate limit & simultaneously record at higher quality.
