Episode 23 is a MASTER CLASS in how to make a Coda Episode. We get such a complete release of tension while still setting up the future. Some more great little details in ep23: The two A-holes in the food line are the drunk officers that leered at Lena. The two names Lena touches on the monument are Kaie's and Haruno's. They were first and last deaths on her watch as Handler One of Spearhead. The Colorata in the scene with the general were Giadian observers. In the Squad's side, the mirroring of their civilian life from ep12 was excellent. We got so many shots of the Squad in public isolation, the shots of them truly home and truly LIVING just gave me hope and joy for them. Theo, who only used pencil expands his art with color. Kurena, who for so long tried to find her own identity, embraces herself with her own fashion. Shin, who "can cook but doesn't care", makes breakfast for his family. Anju, who has always been full of love, reopens herself to that possibility by reveling her cooking. And Raiden BUILDS, not destroys. Absolutely brilliant character growth. And "It's been a long time, Handler One," CRUSHED me emotionally. It was such an emotional release, I ended up BAWLING like Lena. Fun note! The doodles on the Will Come True poster were done by the cast but not told they'd be used in the episode.

What a wild ride. These last 3 or 4 episodes (since around when Shin admitted his fear) have been really memorable to me. Part of it likely has to do with Shin. Something about his internalized struggle for purpose and battling his fear by shutting everyone else out - I think some of us can resonate with that deeply. And yeah, it doesn't work long-term.
