Not a big fan of this season. Didn't like the arc in the Manga and I feel like Ufotable made it even worse in some aspects and didn't elevate the material enough compared to previous seasons. Interested to hear your thoughts on it though.

JayC

True. I feel like UFO could have done better.

The beginning scene in the infinity castle for sure was the highlight of this episode maybe even of the season for me, it's just extremely well done! And I loved all the interactions between the different upper moons there. Also I was ready, SO ready to hate Douma with my whole being and then fucking Mamo voices him and now I can't help but find him kinda cute in a fucked up way ^^' I mean, he's the perfect va for the role but still, I was so mad when I heard his voice xD

Jun Maeda

Prefer SSV over RLD. Muichiro has the best character development so far imo and his backstory is perfectly executed in terms of storyboarding, Mitsuri on the other hand is such a joy to watch. Yes the fight between Muichiro and Gyokko could've been more intense but that particular scene(in ep.11) with its overflowing emotion made it up for me.

I feel that a lot of it is simply the atmosphere of the place. The vibrant nightlife of the Redlight District and then during the climax "Yoshiwara in Flames" simply make for a great set piece, the Swordsmith village at night doesn't look nearly as fancy. In comparison it looks quite bleak and toned down.

I wasn't really feeling the Upper Moon meeting because it felt like it was being cut like a music video, but the way you describe it in the discussion made me think more about it and look at it from a different perspective. In the beginning when you were talking about the people complaining that they've seen this type of story before, I completely agree with you haha.

For me, this arc hinted to/told us a lot of important things: a bit of Kamado's family past, the sword, the owner of the sword, all the Upper Moons, Muzan's reasons , the backstory of two hashiras, some kind of inversion of who looks for whom, the marks. It added a lot of content to demons vs. slayers.

I honestly thought that this scene with Upper Moons was really obnoxious. I loved the first time this space was introduced in Season 1 but now it's kinda annoying. Mostly because of how Muzan treats them and how they treat him. Those constant 'camera' turns and all didn't help. Call me a wet blanket or whatever but that's just how I felt. Muzan in general makes me feel annoyed rather than feeling he's a cool villain like it was when he was first introduced.

Yeah. Yoshiwara arc is two heads above but this one still has its moments. Last couple episodes were pretty damn good.
