Tee, The first two OVA’s are adaptions of .5 chapters Aka put out as satire. Apparently, Aka got a lot of flack from editors and peers that Kaguya should have fanservice to sell better. He was against adding unnecessary fan-service and kinda weaponized these half chapters. It’s just kinda weird cause the chapters are clear satire but these OVA’s kinda indulge with the very think Akasaka was satirizing. With the Kaguya movie, it was released in Japan as one full movie right before Christmas. For some reason, Crunchyroll decided to split it into 4 episodes and release it leading up to Valentine’s Day this year. The tricky thing is, the first “episode” has a natural end point. The other 3 really don’t. It feels more natural to just watch it straight through as a movie. The 1 & 3 feels obtuse but from a story perspective, it gives the best flow after the straight movie watch. You can do 2 & 2 as well. It won’t adversely effect your watching experience but you may feel unsatisfied with where they cut off the 2nd episode. But you’ll enjoy the whole thing when you’re done, regardless. Lastly, if you haven’t already, I would consider adding Oshi no Ko to the list of shows you may put in the Kaguya spot. It’s the other manga by Akasaka. He was working on it when he was ending Kaguya. It’s a fantastic series and just finished airing this spring. It wiped the floor all of the other new shows and outperformed all of the returning heavy hitters like Vineland Saga S2 & Demon Slayer S3. Hell, even it’s OP by YOASOBI became the first Japanese song to ever score #1 on the Billboard Global charts. Basically, it’s Akasaka taking it to the Japanese entertainment industry starting with the Idol industry & the culture around it. Geoff from Mother’s Basement even said you can argue that OnK’s first episode may be the best first episode of a anime series ever. It really became the darling of the spring season. I think you should give it a look (but go into the series blind) don’t look anything up about it! If it gets voted in, just download & watch. The anime is fun, the blend of comedy & drama is great, and it may have some of the most real & complex characters you’ll see in an anime.

Wow, I just went and read the chapters thanks to you and it's insane how tame they are compared to the anime, especially considering it tends to be the other way around, they missed the perfect opportunity with the adaptation imo, since OVA are known exactly for this type of content, so it could have been a great subversion just like in the manga, but maybe they were afraid of unsuspecting buyers complaining about being baited? What a shame.

Two and two would be pretty fine. Without spoiling anything, the movie takes a turn around the 2nd half, so two and two i think splits the movie up very nicely.
