FIELD OF DREAMS (1989) - Full Watch Along

Field of Dreams is a 1989 American sports fantasy drama film written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, and based on Canadian novelist W. P. Kinsella's 1982 novel Shoeless Joe. The film stars Kevin Costner as a farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield that attracts the ghosts of baseball legends, including Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta) and the Chicago Black Sox. Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, and Burt Lancaster (in his final film role) also star.

I loved watching this with you. I saw this when it was in the movies and I tear up each time, esp when he asked his dad to catch with him. Amy Madigan was awesome. Another really good and kind of emotional movie is The Natural with Rober Redford. yes, that was the great Burt Lancaster in one of his final roles. If you can I strongly and highly recommend you watch him in From Here to Eternity, with Frank Sanatra and Deborah Kerr, basically an all-star cast. Love to see you watch it here or in your personal time. Another great movie is Airport , 1970 with Burt Lancaster and another all-star cast.

I enjoyed watching this again. I think the last time I watched it was about 20-some years ago, maybe longer. Now that you know a little about the 1919 World Series fix, you might wanna watch Eight Men Out (1988), and another baseball movie that I love is A League of Their Own (1992). And I'm sorry for your loss, Coby

In 2020, my father passed away. James Earl Jones, from very early in my life, always reminded me of my father. Neither resembled the other, but that smile is the same. When he’s about to walk in to the cornfield, I see my dad in his smile and laughter. Thank you so much for watching this. I’m very sorry for your loss. You will always feel it. No point in saying otherwise. Eventually, though, your thoughts will produce more smiles, more happy tears than sad ones.

If you enjoyed this, you've got to continue down the Kevin Costner sports rabbit hole...more baseball in Bull Durham (1988), For Love of the Game (1999), golf in Tin Cup (1996) and (one no one has reacted to) American Flyers (1985), a bicycle racing movie.
