S02E01 Fun Facts (Patreon)

Now that you've watched/listened to episode one I thought I'd divulge a few fun factoids from the recording process. 

Like I mentioned in the episode, I wrote Float Up back in February and uploaded it to wait for whenever we decided to record the season. During season one, lots of people requested that I write a story, so...I did. Hopefully people remember me more for my actual novels than for this story, but we'll see. 

Awsten was surprised to learn that I wrote the story, and actually the only person I told about it was Andrew, our audio engineer. No one else knew I wrote one; not Awsten, not Jawn, not any of my friends who listen to the show, not even my girlfriend. I wanted it to be a surprise for whenever they heard the episode because it was funny to me.

Another not-actually-fun thing was that in the middle of reading the second story, the SD card Jawn's camera was recording onto got full, so the camera pointed at Awsten stopped filming. Luckily Jawn realized as soon as it happened and could tell us, so we stopped everything and had to wait for him to unload all the footage onto his laptop and get the camera set up again. Thankfully the two takes we had to use were stitched together seamlessly in both the video and audio versions so we didn't look like huge idiots and you only know because I told you!!

Also when this happened and Jawn had to stand up he complained incessantly about his leg being asleep, just absolutely screaming about it and stopping everything he was doing to just stand in place and complain that his leg was asleep which probably doubled the amount of time it took to solve the issue. Classic Jawn!! But it got done so it's all good. I love Jawn. And of course he had to get some stupid pun in about his camera.

For season one, Awsten and I recorded the entire thing on our own in his bedroom. This time around, we recorded the entire thing in his bedroom again, but Jawn and Andrew were both present for the entire process so it was very odd basically having an audience the whole time. But the finished product is 100x better than how season one turned out, so it's great that they were both willing to give us their time to work on the project. 

Because season two certainly did take a lot of time, which we somehow did not foresee, because we are idiots. Season one was a breeze, because for some reason we had a handful of 20-minute episodes, which is nothing. It was quite a different experience recording 10+ full hours of content within two or three days in a row and it was a lot more exhausting than we expected. 

Maybe next time around we'll plan better and not do the entire thing in one weekend, but...we're idiots, so probably not.
