Chapter 18 – Last Remnant of Pirates, Blue’s Trick
“How’d they get this place inside a cave?” Goku asked as the four Saiyans looked around the massive cavern that was the old pirate hideout.
Bulma looked at the buildings and the various vehicles that were left behind. “Given the age of this place, they had to have brought in everything over time, piece by piece and built it here.”
“Why’s that?” Kale looked at Bulma, curious about the genius’s deduction.
“Back in the day, they didn’t have Hoi-Poi Capsules, so this place probably connects out to the sea through a fairly large underwater cave somewhere else.” Bulma explained as she pointed to the large military submarine that was rusted and covered in barnacles in multiple places. “Something this large had to travel here physically. They couldn’t capsulize it and bring it with them. That’s probably why all of these vehicles were left behind too, there was no way to get them out easily.”
Caulifla had her hands behind her head as she looked at the old abandoned pirate den. “Well, I guess this explains why no one ever found the pirates’ treasure.” She smirked at the others. “Which means it should still be in here somewhere, right?”
Unbeknownst to the four Saiyans, General Blue was watching them from a distance, having found a hidden passage around the harpoon trap after searching the rocky wall for a safe passage that the pirates would’ve used. “Instead of killing those brats here and now, it would be better to let them find the Dragon Ball and this pirate treasure they’re talking about first, right?” He smirked at his own brilliance. Pushed out of his mind was that successfully recovering the Dragon Ball (and the treasure would be a large bonus too) would be the only way to keep his life for losing most of his Company in this operation.
Goku perked up slightly and looked around. “I hear something.”
General Blue ducked behind the corner of one of the buildings, wondering if the brat had someone heard him from such a distance.
“Me too.” Kale agreed, narrowing her eyes at the odd sound.
“Is it the Red Ribbon Army?” Buma asked trying to pinpoint the sound herself.
Caulifla shook her head. “No. This doesn’t sound like a person.”
“Over there!” Goku pointed at an alleyway-like space between two of the multi-story buildings.
Fsssshhhhh
What rushed towards the four Saiyans was a large robot with jets of air from its large feet letting it slide just above the ground at speed. It has an elongated, skull-like head with red mechanical eyes, a skull and crossbones stamped onto the elongated head. Its body was bulky green metal with tan limbs that connect it to the large green feet and hands. One robotic hand wielded a large sword, the other was a large military machine gun. Behind the robot was a long tail that seemed prehensile based on its movement.
“What the hell is that thing?!” Caulifla demanded as they all leapt away from the machine as it swung its sword at them.
“It’s a robot!” Bulma answered quickly. “It’s some kind of old military automaton from the looks of it!”
The robot’s red eyes locked onto Kale as it raised the large machine gun that was its left arm.
Ratatatatatatata
A barrage of bullets were fired and pierced straight through Kale instantly.
Only for her form to waver away, revealing an After Image.
“Hyah!” Goku’s fist slammed into the main body of the robot, leaving an imprint in the metal.
“Take this!” Caulifla slammed a kick into the robot’s back, crushing part of the chassis.
Bulma nearly blurred as she got to the right side of the robot and punched the flat side of the large sword it held.
Snap
The majority of the blade snapped off and spun into the water near the large submarine.
“Yah!” Kale punched the large machine gun and shattered the weapon.
“RRRNNNEEE!” The robot made a loud noise at the assault on it and it’s tail lashed out, wrapping around Caulifla’s ankle before unleashing its own hidden weapon.
ZZZZTTTT
“AUauAUauGHgh!” Caulifla spasmed as she was hit with a powerful electric shock.
“Sis!” Kale exclaimed as she nearly vanished in her speed to get to Caulifla. “Stop it!” She grabbed the robot’s tail and nearly crushed it in her anger before tearing it apart.
Caulifla stopped getting shocked and grunted in annoyance. “Damn thing! I didn’t know it could do that!”
“Hyaaah!” Bulma went low, slamming her leg into the robot’s thinner, tan-colored limb that connected its leg to the torso.
Crunch
The thinner metal gave way and the robot lost its balanced along with its leg.
Goku slammed another punch into the robot’s elongated head, breaking through the metal.
“Krrrreek…” The robot made an odd sound as it tried to continue its function of defending the hidden lair.
“Shut up!” Caulifla grabbed the robot’s humanoid right arm and then slammed the robot into the concrete with a shoulder throw. The robot flailed a bit more, until Caulifla’s foot crushed its head.
Goku looked at the mess of parts that was left of the smashed head. “That thing was really solid.”
“It was.” Kale agreed, rubbing her fist that had broken the machine gun. “Do you think there are more of these things around here?”
“I don’t hear anything, but we shouldn’t rule it out.” Bulma said after a long moment to listen for anything else moving around in the pirates’ harbor.
General Blue, having watched the entire fight, grimaced at the skill and strength displayed by the four ‘brats’ as he’d dubbed them. “They’re martial artists?!” That could potentially pose a problem. ‘But nothing my power shouldn’t be able to handle.’ He reassured himself as he watched the four of them closely.
Bulma took out the Dragon Radar and clicked the button on top twice. “Looks like the Dragon Ball is in this direction.” She pointed to the left and the four of them quickly found another long corridor.
Sneaking behind them, always staying at a safe distance, General Blue followed along. “I won’t let you take the Dragon Ball or the treasure.”
“There’s two ways.” Caulifla said as the group stopped at a fork in the corridor. “Do we go left or right?”
Bulma adjusted the radar’s range. “The Dragon Ball is to the right…but that doesn’t mean the treasure is.”
Goku grinned at the simple solution. “Then two of us go left and two of us go right. Easy!”
Kale giggled at the smile on Goku’s face. “That would be easiest.”
“Come on, Goku!” Caulifla grabbed Goku’s wrist and pulled him down the left passageway.
“Okay!” Goku followed along with a smile.
Bulma and Kale shared a quick look before smiling at each other as they headed down the right passageway towards the Dragon Ball. Caulifla clearly wanted some time with Goku and they were both happy to give it to her.
General Blue narrowed his eyes as the group split up. “The blue-haired girl has that odd little device, it’s probably the enemies radar. I’ll need to collect that too. Now that they’ve split up, I’ll secure the Dragon Ball first and eliminate the two n the right while I’m at it.” Decision made, he quietly crept along the right side corridor at a steady and methodical pace to remain hidden.
-Goku and Caulifla-
“A dead end?” Caulifla blinked at finding nothing at the end of the corridor.
Goku looked around, even tapping on the wall to see if it was fake or maybe it had a button hidden somewhere. “Why would they have a hallway that didn’t lead somewhere?”
Caulifla shrugged as she joined Goku in tapping on various parts of the wall. “Maybe they didn’t have time to build anything this way?”
The two Saiyans met in the middle during their inspection of the wall, only for the floor to collapse beneath them, revealing a trapdoor.
“Whoa!” Goku cried out as he fell.
“Shit!” Caulifla cursed at the stupid trap that they’d ended up falling for.
Byooiinng
“Eh?” Caulifla blinked as they’d fallen onto something large and somewhat soft, if a bit damp.
“Oh!” Goku managed to stand up, only to feel the large thing they’d landed on moving.
Eight massive tentacles slithered over the rocks as the squishy body moved around. “First prey in long time…” The massive octopus that had broken the two Saiyans’ fall spoke as its eyes turned to look up at them.
Caulifla and Goku hopped off the octopus’s head and onto the nearby rocks.
“You’re a squid, right?” Goku asked the cephalopod curiously.
“Octopus.” The octopus corrected as it moved its tentacles towards the Saiyans.
Caulifla shrugged, not caring at all. “Well, whatever, we’ll be going now.”
“Both big enough, fill my belly.” The Octopus said as it tried to catch Goku and Caulifla with its tentacles…only for the tentacles to pass through their After Images. “Huh?”
Goku and Caulifla were both in the air above the immense octopus, their hands cupped at their sides. “Ka… Me… Ha… Me… HA!” They threw their hands forward, unleashing two blue-white beams of ki straight at the octopus.
BOOM
Both Saiyans clapped their hands over their ears as the sound reverberated in the cavern. Caulifla landed on one side of the octopus while Goku landed on the other. Once the noise died down, the dust and smoke from their attacks had mostly cleared away as well.
The octopus was definitely dead…given that its head was gone. The eight legs were all letting off steam as well, the blackened parts here and there showed that the residual energy had been dispersed as heat and thoroughly cooked the remaining parts of the giant octopus.
Both Saiyans sniffed the wafting steam and smoke before their stomachs rumbled.
“Hey… Octopus isn’t bad if you cook it.” Goku mentioned as a little drool escaped the corner of his mouth.
Caulifla wiped the drool from her own mouth with her wristband. “Eight legs and four of us means we each get two.”
Only a moment later, both Caulifla and Goku were happily munching on the cooked octopus legs with smiles on their faces.
“Kind of tough…” Goku munched on the octopus leg in his hands, the large size made it quite hefty.
“A little overcooked.” Caulifla agreed as she chewed and swallowed another bite from her first roasted tentacle.
The two sat side by side and their tails had wrapped around each other without either of them having thought about it. They enjoyed their impromptu meal with smiles and only a little conversation. Both of them just happy to be together again after their separation.
-Kale and Bulma-
At the end of the right corridor was what appeared to be a well built into the floor.
A quick sniff from Kale and she cocked her head curiously. “It’s seawater.”
“I guess we have to swim for it?” Bulma shrugged as she checked the Dragon Radar again and saw that the Dragon Ball was still further ahead. With a shrug she turned off the radar and put it into her bikini top, right over her left breast. With the radar safe, she kicked off her shoes and shimmied out of her shorts, revealing her red bikini bottoms.
Kale pulled off her red shirt and tossed it on top of Bulma’s shorts. She was only in a black sports bra beneath her shirt. Kale pulled off her boots quickly and then her red skirt followed, leaving her in her black spats. “Ready?” She asked Bulma.
“Ready.” Bulma nodded as they both hopped into the water one after the other.
They swam for a distance, finding that the underwater tunnel twisted and turned a bit. Kale and Bulma kept swimming, the darkness of the tunnel hindering them slightly as they occasionally had to feel their way along the turns. When they saw light again, they quickly swam for it as the need for air was becoming an issue.
“Pah!” Bulma gasped as she broke the surface.
“Hah!” Kale was right beside her, taking in a deep gulp of air.
As they pulled themselves onto the rocky shore of the small cavern, Bulma and Kale spotted a large chest that looked antique, even to their inexperienced eyes. Kale looked at Bulma, and Bulma looked at Kale. Both girls smiled brightly at each other as they approached what could only be a treasure chest. The only light in the cavern was the singular lamp hanging from the ceiling directly above the chest, but it was bright enough to see clearly as Kale and Bulma lifted the heavy lid of the chest and pushed it open.
-General Blue-
“What?! You mean I have to get wet?” General Blue grimaced as he looked at the well-like opening that the two girls had jumped into. “Feh. How undignified.” He took off his hat and began to unbutton his uniform shirt. “I’ll bet it isn’t clean either. And they say that seawater is bad for your skin.” He tossed off the shirt, revealing his strong chest. “Ugh, it can’t be helped.” Blue dove into the water and swam quickly through the tunnel, keeping one hand on the wall when it became too dark to see.
-Treasure Cavern-
“Wow!” Kale marveled at the huge amount of treasure within the chest. Gold, Silver, crowns, coins, bars, jewels, and gemstones. It was like something out of a storybook.
Bulma, even as rich as she was, still marveled at the treasure in front of her. Not because of its monetary value, but because of how fantastical it was to find actual pirate treasure like this. ‘Is this the thrill of adventure that some famous explorers talked about throughout history?’ She couldn’t help but wonder.
Kale picked up one of the gold bars to marvel at it a little. “How much is all of this worth?” She had no idea, but it would surely be a lot, right? “We could give some to Master and still have tons to buy food with and celebrate.” Kale thought it would be nice to bring some back for Roshi, given the old man had taken in both Caulifla and Kale just because he saw the potential in them.
Splash
The sound of something coming out of the water made Kale and Bulma turn to the pool of water they’d entered the small cavern from.
General Blue smirked at the two girls. “Sorry to disappoint you, but, regretfully, we in the Red Ribbon Army must relieve you of that treasure!” He held his hand out as if expecting Bulma and Kale to hand it over.
“A survivor?” Kale was surprised that any of the Red Ribbon Army had survived Caulifla’s Kamehameha.
“Ah, damn it…” Bulma grimaced at seeing the man. Even if he was easy on the eyes. She had Goku and didn’t want anyone else. “Geez, with looks like yours, just go be a model or a movie star or something.”
General Blue narrowed his eyes at Bulma. “Stop looking at me with such disgusting eyes, woman!” He even visibly shivered once.
Bulma blinked, not thinking that she’d been looking at the man in anyway that could be construed as ‘disgusting’, until a thought crossed her mind. “Oh… Barking up the wrong tree, huh?”
“What did you just say?” Blue glared at Bulma. “Do you know what happens if you anger me?” He took up a fighting stance.
“If you want to fight, then let’s fight.” Bulma took up her own stance, Kale dropping into her own stance beside her.
Blue lunged forward, a jab aimed right at Bulma’s face. Kale moved forward, a snapping sidekick slamming into the General Blue’s stomach and halting his charge. Bulma socked Blue in the jaw a fraction of a second later and made the man’s head whip around while blood flew from his busted lip.
“Gah! Ugh…” General Blue hacked out, holding his stomach as he staggered backwards. “Y-You…” He grunted as he held his face. “You actually… You struck my beautiful face?!” Blue looked at his hand and saw the blood on it. “Blood? My blood?!” He covered his lower face with his hands. “A proud general…of the Red Ribbon Army…does not suffer from a lowly split lip!” He reared back and wrapped his arms around himself. “The shame! The humiliation!”
“What’s wrong with him?” Kale asked Bulma, completely confused by the man’s reaction to being punched in the face once.
Bulma shook her head once. “I…don’t know.” Did this ‘general’ not know how fights worked or something?
“I’m a general… I’m General Blue himself…” Blue muttered to himself before looking at Bulma with a snarl. “No one that’s seen my shame can be allowed to live!” His blue eyes glowed brightly for just a split-second.
Bulma felt her body lock up and her eyes widened. “H-Hey… Why can’t I… M-Move?!” Her entire body trembled as she tried to make herself move.
“Bulma?” Kale looked at how Bulma was shaking after hearing her words. “What did you do?!” She yelled at General Blue. Her answer was a kick that she managed to barely get her guard up in time to block. Kale staggered back multiple steps from the force.
“How do you like my telekinesis, hm?” General Blue asked rhetorically as he kicked Bulma in the stomach and knocked her to the ground.
Bulma grunted in pain from the blow that she couldn’t defend against. “Psy-Psychic…power?” She managed to get out as her body still refused to move.
General Blue smirked viciously down at Bulma. “You’ve given me a fine lesson in humility. Now…let me show you my gratitude.” He raised his boot over Bulma’s head, preparing to crush her skull beneath his foot.
Kale’s fist blurred past General Blue’s face as the man jerked to the side, barely avoiding a powerful straight punch to the nose. “Back off!”
“Hey! I can move again!” Bulma hopped back to her feet immediately. “Don’t look into his eyes!” She blurred and left an After Image behind.
“Right!” Kale copied Bulma, leaving and After Image where she’d been as she moved to take General Blue’s back.
General Blue blinked and saw the edges of the After Images waver. “What? No!” He looked up and saw Bulma coming down on him with an axe kick. Blue jumped backwards to avoid the attack. “GAUGH!!!” Only to cry out in pain as he’d leapt backwards straight into a kick from Kale, his body bent to its limits from the force as he went flying forward.
“Hah!” Bulma’s roundhouse kick slammed into Blue’s face and sent the man spinning in the air before he crashed down onto the rocky floor.
“Ack!” General Blue hacked out, blood flying from his nose and mouth. He grabbed something from his pocket and with a poof of smoke from a Capsule, a shotgun appeared. “Don’t you move!” He ordered as he aimed the shotgun at both girls. When Kale moved, Blue pulled the trigger.
BANG
-Caulifla and Goku-
“What was that?” Caulifla looked in the direction the sound had come from.
“A gun.” Goku said, having become rather familiar with the sound ever since he’d started dealing with the Red Ribbon Army. “It came from that way, so…” He looked at the pool of water at the edge of the cavern they were in.
Caulifla didn’t wait for anything else to be said. She jumped into the pool and began to swim down the straight tunnel that was beneath the water, a spot of light in the distance quickly becoming her goal.
Goku splashed into the water behind her not a second later ad quickly swam as fast as he could in the same direction.
-Bulma and Kale vs General Blue-
“Kale!” Bulma nearly roared in concern and rage as she saw Kale hit the ground from the shotgun blast. She stopped thinking entirely, primal Saiyan instinct taking over any higher thought. She moved so fast that her After Image didn’t even waver at the edges. The next thing General Blue knew was the barrel of his shotgun being crushed by Bulma’s left hand while her right palm slammed into his chest. “KIAI!!!” Bulma bellowed, blasting the shockwave of ki through her palm and straight into General Blue’s chest.
“GRKH!!!” General Blue’s insides were ravaged by the shockwave tearing through his body like a bomb. He hacked up a mouthful of blood, his nose bled like a faucet, and even his eyes turned red as the blood vessels burst and ‘tears of blood’ fell from them.
Bam
General Blue’s back slammed into the rocky wall a few meters away, hanging there for a second from the force of impact before sliding down to the floor, unmoving.
Bulma was at Kale’s side in the next second, gently looking over the other girl. “Kale! Are you alright? Let me see.” She gently moved Kale’s arms away from her body, only to see dozens of small, red welts all over Kale’s torso and peppering her arms.
“Nnngh.” Kale hissed at the stinging pain all over her stomach, chest, and arms. “I…I’m okay…mmm.” She ground her teeth to deal with the pain.
Splash
Splash
From the much smaller pool at the other side of the cavern, two splashes announced the arrival of Caulifla and Goku. The instant they saw Kale on the ground with Bulma clearly checking on her, they bolted forward.
“Kale!” Caulifla took Kale’s hand into both of hers. “Are you okay?!”
Goku looked at Kale’s face, seeing her grimacing in pain. “What happened?” He looked at Bulma.
Kale smiled through her pain and spoke up. “I’m okay. Just hurts a bit. Sss!” She hissed as she sat up. “A little more than a bit…maybe.”
“There was a survivor from the Red Ribbon Army.” Bulma said as she motioned towards General Blue. “He fought with us, but when he started losing he pulled out a shotgun and shot Kale.” She glared angrily at the unresponsive man and the ruined shotgun on the ground. “I kinda lost it for a second and hit him with a palm strike to the chest with a kiai through it.”
“Good.” Caulifla said without a care for General Blue. “As long as Kale is okay.” She smiled at her ‘sis’, happy to see Kale sitting up and seeming mostly uninjured.
Goku looked over Bulma for a moment as well. “Are you okay, Bulma?”
“I’m fine, Goku.” Bulma assured him with a smile. “I didn’t get shot.” Some small part of her wondered if she should be feeling more emotions right now, given that General Blue was clearly dead by her hand. ‘I feel…not nothing, but not ashamed or shocked. It’s not guilt…I don’t think. I’m certainly not happy that I had to kill him, but I also wasn’t thinking when I did it.’ Bulma wasn’t sure if the lacking emotional response was another Saiyan thing or if it would come to her later. ‘But whatever the case, I know I won’t have to face it alone.’ She looked at Goku, Kale, and Caulifla with a small smile.
“That’s good.” Goku smiled at Bulma, happy that she wasn’t hurt. “We found a trapdoor at the end of he right corridor. We fell onto a giant octopus that wanted to eat us.”
“But we took care of it and then ate it instead!” Caulifla smirked widely.
Kale looked at the pool of water that Caulifla and Goku had emerged from. “Is that where you came from?” When Goku and Caulifla nodded, Kale’s stomach rumbled.
Caulifla cracked up with laughter. “Hungry, Kale?”
“I…I could eat.” Kale said with a shy smile.
“We found the treasure too.” Bulma grinned as she pointed towards the large chest.
Goku and Caulifla moved over to look at it once Kale was back on her feet.
“Woah…” Goku looked at the huge pile of shiny valuables.
“Yeah…” Caulifla agreed as she saw the gold coins, bars, jewels, silver, and everything else.
Bulma laughed a little at their reactions. They may not know a ton about monetary value (especially Goku), but it wasn’t hard to understand that the pirate treasure was incredibly valuable just by looking at it. “Now we just need to find the Dragon Ball.” She pulled the radar from her bikini top and clicked the button on top. “A little closer…” She clicked the button again after rotating it slightly. “It should be in that pool you two came from.” Bulma pointed at the smaller pool.
“I’ll check!” Goku hopped back into the pool and swam down to the bottom. Not seeing the familiar orange shine, Goku swam around and stared moving rocks around. When he didn’t find it after a few tries he swam a bit further, closer to the tunnel that he and Caulifla had swam through earlier. ‘Hey, there’s a crack on the ceiling.’ Goku noticed the small crack and wondered if it led all the way up to the crack that they’d found when they’d first used the submersible to look for it. It was certainly wide enough for a Dragon Ball to fit through. Goku had a ‘lightbulb’ moment as he swam up to the crack and looked into it.
A faint orange color glinted in the darkened fissure.
‘Found it!’ Goku beamed as he reached into the crack and took hold of the Dragon Ball. With a strong pull, the rock holding it from falling gave way and Goku quickly swam back towards the surface. “I got it!” He held the Dragon ball up high.
“Is it your grandpa’s?” Kale asked hopefully, knowing how much the Four-Star Ball meant to Goku.
Goku looked at the ball but pouted a little after seeing the number of stars. “Nope. It’s the Three-Star Ball.”
“Well, at least you still have another one.” Caulifla tried to cheer him up in her own way.
“Yeah, that’s true.” Goku grinned as he put the Three-Star Ball in the pouch with the other two Dragon Balls that he already had. “So, are we carrying this out?” He pointed at the treasure chest.
Bulma looked at the chest and nodded. “We should be able to do it.” Her stomach growled and she put her hand on it. “Maybe after we eat the rest of that octopus you two said you had.”
Caulifla grinned at Bulma’s stomach making itself known. “Fair warning, we kinda accidentally cooked it with our Kamehameha…so it’s a little overdone.”
“I’ll eat.” Kale said immediately.
The lid of the treasure chest was quickly closed and then the heavy thing was picked up.
“Nope.” Caulifla shook her head as she set her end of the chest back down. “We wouldn’t be able to swim with this much weight.”
“It is pretty heavy for swimming.” Goku agreed as he set his end down.
Bulma sighed, once more wishing that she had HER Capsule case instead of having taken her dad’s. “Wait…” She had destroyed the pervy magazines inside the Capsule, but she still had the Storage Capsule itself…in the pocket of her shorts. “I’ll be right back!” She dove into the larger pool of water and began to swim.
Kale, Caulifla, and Goku all tilted their heads at Bulma’s sudden exit.
A little over a minute later and Bulma returned with a large intake of breath. “Hah! Damn… That’s way too long.” The length of the underwater tunnel was hard on the air supply. “I got what we need though!” She pulled the, now empty, Storage Capsule from her bikini top and walked over to the treasure chest. “I’ll capsulize the chest and we can carry it out that way!”
“Oh!” Goku, Caulifla, and Kale all understood why Bulma had left now.
Bulma placed the Capsule on top of the treasure chest and clicked the button on top.
Bomf
A cloud of smoke briefly obscured the chest, but when it cleared only the Capsule remained on the ground.
“Success!” Bulma picked up the Capsule and gave a ‘peace’ sign to the others. “Now, let’s eat, Kale!” She smiled at the other hungry Saiyan.
“Yes!” Kale smiled right back.
Goku and Caulifla led the way back through the straight underwater tunnel. It was longer than the other tunnel, but because it was straight instead of winding, they could swim through it faster.
“Food!” Kale cheered as she saw the four gigantic octopus legs waiting for them in the cavern.
Bulma and Kale happily dug in. Goku and Caulifla watched on, happy that Kael and Bulma were enjoying the sudden meal…even if they both could’ve eaten all of the octopus legs earlier since they still had room for more. They both lightly punched their own stomachs when they growled a little.
“Alright, let’s just get our clothes really quick and then we can get out of here.” Bulma said as she led the others down the right corridor so that she and Kael could get dressed.
Not that either of the Saiyan girls minded the way that Goku’s eyes wandered over their bodies. Their tails flicked side to side more than a few times in happiness, in fact.
As Kale was putting her skirt, boots, and shirt back on, she checked over her body. After eating two of the giant octopus legs, her body was healing well. Already the bright red welts had noticeably reduced in size and the redness was mostly gone. Saiyan physiology really was a blessing.
“I call Goku’s lap!” Caulifla declared the instant that Roshi’s sub appeared in the cloud of smoke on the surface of the water. The exclamation echoed a bit in the cavernous harbor of the bygone pirates.
Kale pouted a little, but sighed after a moment. “Fair is fair, I guess.”
Goku laughed at the smug look on Caulifla’s face and the cute pout on Kale’s.
Once everyone was in the sub, Caulifla sitting on Goku’s lap just as she said, Bulma had the hatch close itself and with the press of a button they began to sink below the water. Once they were deep enough, Bulma pushed the controls forward and the sub headed towards a large tunnel that was easily big enough to fit the military submarine they’d seen in the harbor.
“Shouldn’t be too long now.” Bulma said as she guided the sub through the tunnel, the light coming from the ocean was already visible a bit further away.
“Take your time.” Caulifla grinned as she sat in Goku’s lap, his arms around her waist, and their tails entwined.
Goku smiled at Caulifla. “But the faster we get back, the faster we can eat again!”
Caulifla looked thoughtful for a second. “Good point. To the surface!” She pointed straight up as soon as the sub left the large tunnel.
“Where are we?” Kale questioned as she didn’t see anything familiar in this part of the sea.
“We’re definitely pretty far from where we entered the pirate’s hideout.” Bulma said as she guided the sub towards the surface. “No wonder we didn’t see the obvious giant tunnel.”
Once the sub was back on the surface, the first thing Bulma did was open the dome hatch and let in the fresh air.
“Ah!” Goku breathed in deeply before exhaling. “I didn’t notice as much down there, but the air wasn’t very good.”
“No kidding.” Caulifla nodded in agreement as she enjoyed the breeze in her wild, spiky hair. “Comparing them is like night and day.”
Kale agreed as she stretched her arms above her head. “It’s really nice to be back in the sunlight again too.”
Bulma chuckled a little as she steered the sub back towards the training island where the Kame House currently was. “Given how old the air trapped in that cave might be, it’s no surprise that it was a little stagnant. But now we don’t have to worry about that anymore!” She sped up with a small roar from the motor, the sub now acting more like a motorboat as they crossed the ocean.
-Training Island ~ Kame House-
“Hi Launch!” Goku greeted Launch as soon as he saw her with her hair blonde.
Launch smiled at Goku. “Hey, yourself, Goku.” She pulled him into a hug and enjoyed it even more when Goku’s arms wrapped around her waist to return it. “So, did you get your grandpa’s Dragon Ball this time?”
Goku shook his head once. “Not this time. But I have three out of seven now, so I’m closer to getting your wish.” He smiled at her warmly.
“Thank you, Goku.” Launch smiled at him; her green eyes less fierce than normal as she looked at him.
“Was everything okay while we were gone?” Bulma asked as she looked around, noticing the signs of a fight here and there.
Roshi waved it off with a chuckle. “Oh yes, nothing too bad. Just a few very rude and uninvited guests.”
Kale looked at Bulma and then at Roshi. “Master, we also found the pirate treasure.”
“Eh?! You did?!” Roshi nearly gaped at hearing that.
“Damn right we did!” Caulifla smirked at their Master.
Bulma pulled the Storage Capsule out of her pocket and clicked the top before tossing it a short distance away.
Bomf
The cloud of smoke cleared quickly to reveal the treasure chest.
Bulma and Kale opened the lid and both Roshi and Launch’s eyes bugged out and the vast treasure inside the chest.
“Holy shit!” Launch exclaimed as she saw the riches. It had to be worth more than all of the cash that she’d ever stolen in her life!
“Oh…oh my!” Roshi wasn’t sure if he should laugh at the ridiculous fortune that his disciples had brought back or just cheer and celebrate.
Goku laughed at the stunned looks on their faces. “You two look funny!”
“We agreed that we should give you some, Master.” Kale smiled at Roshi. “We can sell the rest and buy a huge feast to celebrate once Goku finds the rest of the Dragon Balls and gets his wish.”
Roshi patted Kale’s head with a smile. “From today onward, you’re my favorite disciple ever! Hahaha!” Just a handful or two of those riches would finance his hermit lifestyle for another couple of decades at the very least!
“Greedy old lech.” Bulma rolled her eyes at Roshi.
“Tch! Playing favorites now, old man?” Caulifla scoffed at Roshi’s declaration.
Roshi rubbed the back of his head. “Hey now! I’m allowed to have a favorite, aren’t I?”
Kale laughed behind her hand at the way Roshi floundered beneath the gazes of Goku, Bulma, and Caulifla…even if Goku was just mimicking what Caulifla and Bulma were doing.
“So, how do you plan to sell this stuff, exactly?” Launch asked, a gold bar in each of her hands.
“Let me handle that.” Bulma grinned at the treasure. “Just a quick call to my dad and he should be able to make the arrangements.”
Grrrmmmbbbllleee
“Can we eat soon?” Goku asked as he rubbed his stomach. “I need to find the other Dragon Balls before those Red Ribbon jerks get them.”
Launch sidled up to Goku with a smirk. “Why rush so much? Surely you can rest a bit first?” She had gold bar in both of her front pockets as well as both back pockets, not too mention a golden necklace around her neck that was nearly encrusted with gemstones. Friends they were, but she still had a love for valuables!
“Yeah, Goku. Stay with us for a little while.” Caulifla said with a grin.
“We’d all like that.” Kale admitted with a small smile.
Bulma giggled as she wrapped her arms around Goku. “They’re right, you know? Rushing all the time isn’t good for you.”
“Well… I guess so.” Goku acquiesced to the girls. “Rest well is part of the Turtle School Way, right Master Roshi?” He looked at Roshi with a smile.
“Indeed it is, my boy!” Roshi laughed, not minding Bulma being extra company as well. A little more eye candy was never a bad thing, after all. “Now, let’s Eat Well and Rest Well before you restart your journey!” He pointed his staff towards the town closest to where Kame House was setup on the island. “I’m sure the largest local restaurant will be happy to feed us all until we’re stuffed!”
“Yeah!” Goku, Kale, Caulifla, and Bulma all cheered at the promise of food.
“Same old, same old.” Launch grinned at seeing the four Saiyans so happy about the meal. ‘Would I be the same if I became a Saiyan?’ She wondered as she followed after the group. Her green eyes followed Goku most of all. Given how close they’d gotten, Goku’s ferocious side that he let out from time to time, and the fact that he was collecting the Dragon Balls just to help her…how could she have eyes for anyone else?
Seeing Bulma’s ass in those short shorts was certainly distracting though.
-Red Ribbon Army HQ-
“Silver Company… White Company… Now Blue Company has gone dark too?” Commander Red’s anger was palpable, a vein nearly pulsing on his forehead while his grip on his glass of brandy became so tight the glass shattered, staining his desk with the expensive alcohol. “How can one little punk be decimating MY ARMY?!”
Staff Officer Black closed his eyes, knowing that nothing he could say would alleviate Commander Red’s anger.
“Call Taopaipai…” Commander Red said with a cold voice, his anger bubbling beneath his collected tone like magma. “I want that fucking brat dead!”

Well…things certainly went differently this time around, huh?
Four Saiyans makes for a much easier time against General Blue, that’s for sure!
Did Bulma just come up with a new technique without thinking about it?
Turns out, Saiyans can take a shotgun blast and be mostly okay. Stings like a bitch though when they’re not fully grown!
A chunk of treasure for Master Roshi! Financing that hermit life for a long time to come! (Maybe a few nights ‘out on the town’ too…) Kek!
Launch takes a few things for herself, because she’s blonde Launch!
With Goku now having three Dragon Balls collected, the Red Ribbon Army calls in outside help! How will that play out in the near future?
