Chapter 41 – Spoils of War and Recognition

Bell carried a box filled with various items inside towards the large foyer of the former Apollo Familia home. The entire Hestia Familia was gathering up everything within the large building to sort and appraise it all.

We’re making progress at the very least.” The various boxes and items that Lili had already gone through were sorted into categories based on what they were and if they were valuable or not. Anything that she couldn’t appraise herself, she set aside for future appraisal by an expert.

“Find anything good, Little Lili?” Welf asked as he carefully carried a box down the stairs.

“Some of these decorative items are genuine pieces made from expensive materials.” Lili confirmed with a smile, her eyes sparkling as she looked at a box that contained a few artistic vases that had been in Apollo’s room. “They’ll fetch a good price in the market, for sure.”

Bell looked at the empty foyer and smiled at the empty space that had once been occupied by so many statutes of Apollo. “Thankfully, we were able to get the statues out of the way rather quickly.”

Hestia had sold all of the statues for whatever the value of the material each of them had been carved from would be worth as raw material. Dozens of movers had picked them up the next day while dropping off the payments for the various statues purchased. While the statues hadn’t sold for much, over all, everyone simply wanted them gone as fast as possible, so it had worked out in the end.

Welf, Lili, and Mikoto all briefly trembled at the memory of the numerous statues.

-Guild Headquarters-

“Good morning, Hestia.” Eina greeted Hestia with a warm smile.

“They’ll be able to get you setup with handling the former Apollo Familia Home.” Eina said with a small giggle as she motioned to the door.

“Thank you, Eina.” Hestia beamed at Eina warmly. The Half-Elf had set up the meeting for Hestia with the Guild’s real estate management division, making the process much simpler and faster than it would’ve been otherwise. With warm eyes, Hestia stood on her tiptoes and kissed Eina’s cheek. “Don’t work too hard, okay?”

“Lady Hestia, good morning to you.” The Chienthrope man smiled at the Goddess. “My name is Martin Weiler, senior manager of real estate services, and according to your appointment notes you’re looking to either sell or auction off the Apollo Familia Home?”

“Yes, sir.” Hestia nodded as she followed Martin into his office. “Since I already have a home of my own along with my new district, I don’t have much use for Apollo’s old home.” She sat down on the soft plush chair across from Martin’s desk.

Martin nodded in understanding. “I see. I see. Well, we can certainly help you get everything in order for a sale or auction.” He sat down in the chair behind his desk and opened the file that he’d started for this particular transaction. “Given the last assessment of the property, it should sell for at least 100,000,000 Valis if we go for the direct sale route.” He moved a piece of paper across the desk for Hestia to see.

Hestia picked up the paper and looked it over, reading over the last assessment which had been done shortly before the Apollo Familia had purchased the property. “100,000,000 Valis would be nice.” It would almost wipe out her debt to Hephaestus all by itself, not to mention selling off some of the other items that she’d collected among Apollo’s previous belongings. “Could you give me an estimate of what we might be able to get for it at auction?”

“Of course, Lady Hestia.” Martin smiled as he pulled out a few other files and began comparing recent property auctions around Orario. He did a few calculations on a separate sheet of paper and then nodded to himself after a moment to look over everything once more. “Based on the current market rates for properties of similar size…I think an auction may earn you more at first, but you’d have to pay the auction commission fee, which would be five percent of total sale.” Martin explained as he showed her his calculations on the paper. “There’s also the fact that how high an auction goes is entirely dependent on the bidders…if we don’t draw in some of the wealthier Familias, we risk not making more than a straight sale.”

“I see.” Hestia compared the estimations on the papers. “Perhaps a regular sale would be for the best.”

Martin pulled a few forms from a drawer and placed them on top of the desk. “We can draw up the forms for a real estate sale today, if you’d like.”

Hestia considered her options for a long moment. “Can I try to sell the property for a higher price than the estimate?”

“Yes, of course, I was about to suggest the same thing.” Martin chuckled with a friendly smile. “You’d want to make a sale that would cover not only the value of the property, but would make you as much money as possible.” He tapped the line of the form with ‘Price’ next to it. “Something around 125,000,000 to 130,000,000 should be a good price to put the manor style house with that much land on the market.”

“Alright then, let’s put it up for sale for 130,000,000 Valis!” Hestia smiled brightly at Martin. ‘That’ll almost completely erase my debt to Hephaestus! “You wanted to have a meeting, Finn?” Gareth asked as he sat in one of the chairs in the office.

Riveria sat down in the chair next to Gareth’s with a curious gaze. “I assume this is about what happened in Melen?”

Finn nodded and interlaced his fingers before resting his chin on his hands. “Yes. We now have reason to suspect that Ishtar Familia might be involved with the Evilus remnants, the strangely-colored Monsters, and these Demi-Spirits.”

“Without any direct proof, we can’t get the Guild involved.” Riveria said with a sharp look in her jade eyes.

“We need evidence to link the Ishtar Familia to the Evilus remnants first and foremost.” Finn stated clearly, his blue eyes sharp and intense. “How can we get the irrefutable evidence that we need to have the Guild take action with us?”

Gareth and Riveria took up thinking positions as they considered their options.
