Chapter 69 – Franky House Fight and Abduction
Within Iceberg’s bedroom within the Galley-La Headquarters, the mayor laid awake, looking towards the ceiling. The sounds of battle outside had ended a moment ago, but the occasional rumble of thunder and the sound of rain was beginning to replace it.
“I’m terribly sorry about all of the noise outside.” Kalifa apologized to Iceberg as she stood between his bed and the doors to the room.
“Oh my, what is it?” Iceberg asked, glancing over at Kalifa.
Kalifa adjusted her glasses slightly. “Straw Hat Luffy has attempted to come see you and got in a fight with the workers and the five foremen. His crew apparently just arrived as well.” She informed the mayor as she glanced outside the window of the bedroom and saw nearly the entire crew of pirates.
“Kalifa, I have a favor to ask…” Iceberg said as he thought about the questions he had running through his mind.
“Anything you need, Mayor Iceberg.” Kalifa said with a half bow to her boss.
A short time later, as the tension outside was about to reach a boiling point again, the large double doors to Iceberg’s home opened, revealing Kalifa. All eyes turned to the mayor’s secretary as she kept her express blank, but her blue eyes were cold as she looked directly at Luffy.
“Mayor Iceberg has allowed you to see him.” Kalifa said frostily. “Please follow me, Straw Hats.”
“We’re going too!” Paulie said immediately and the five foremen took up positions around the Straw Hat pirates. Should any kind of violence break out, the crew was already surrounded.
“DON’T TRY ANY FUNNY BUSINESS!!!” Tilestone bellowed at the pirates.
Lulu and Kalifa looked at Tilestone pointedly behind their glasses. “You’re too loud, Tilestone!”
The largest foremen put one hand over his mouth and looked at the two apologetically.
Kaku and Lucci, while everyone was distracted by Tilestone’s loudness, shot each other a look that passed on a message without words. No one else saw it, but a secret conversation was had in only a few seconds as the large group walked up the stairs and through the large hallway that led to Iceberg’s bedroom.
“I must ask you all to remain calm and not too anything foolish. Mr. Iceberg is still resting from his injuries.” Kalifa said flatly, her tone brooked no argument as she opened the door and stepped inside.
Luffy was the second to enter the room, followed by Nami and Vivi, then Mikita and Sanji, and bringing up the rear were Usopp, Chopper, and Zoro. Lulu and Tilestone entered the room behind the pirates while Lucci and Kaku stood right outside the doors to prevent anyone from entering or exiting.
“Oh my. I’ve heard that you’re looking for me…pirate boy?” Iceberg greeted Luffy with a serious expression.
“That’s right.” Luffy said as he stopped a short distance from Iceberg’s bedside. “I want to know why you said Robin tried to kill you.”
Iceberg narrowed his eyes at Luffy. “Last night, I saw Nico Robin with my own eyes! She is one of your crew. That’s the truth.”
Luffy narrowed his eyes at the accusation. “That’s impossible. Robin was with us watching our ship get dismantled last night. The entire Franky Family can confirm that.”
The tension in the room had instantly thickened, the very air feeling heavy.
“Shut your mouth, boy.” Iceberg pulled a pistol from beneath his blankets and aimed it at Luffy. “I don’t have the energy to listen to your yammering.”
“Hey!” Sanji barked at Iceberg, putting himself between the women and the pistol.
“What’re you doing?!” Usopp demanded, his hand already in his satchel and gripping his slingshot.
Zoro’s eyes were like steel as his hand went to the hilt of Yubashiri, his fastest sword.
Chopper, as a doctor, panicked more than a little. “Hey! You’re still injured! Don’t move around so much!”
“Are you willing to risk your life?” Luffy questioned, the brim of his hat shadowing his eyes. Paulie, Tilestone, and Lulu all tensed up, hands on their weapons. Kalifa narrowed her eyes but found that she couldn’t take the two steps necessary to put herself between Luffy and Iceberg.
“What…?” Iceberg uttered out, his hand and arm visibly trembling just from holding up the pistol.
“Guns aren’t for threats, they’re for actions.” Luffy said, one eye becoming visible from beneath the brim of his straw hat. “Now that you’ve drawn your pistol, are you willing to bet your life on it?” The tension in the air had nearly become a physical weight at this point.
Iceberg’s weakened state under this pressure lost out first and his arm dropped, the pistol falling harmlessly atop his blankets. “I called you here…” His breathing was noticeably harsher than before Luffy had spoken. “…because I have a favor to ask.”
Luffy’s demeanor lessened in severity and the tension dropped significantly. “A favor?”
“I want to see Nico Robin.” Iceberg requested seriously.
“The entire city’s up in arms looking for us and Robin specifically because of what you said!” Mikita nearly growled at the mayor. “We can’t just bring her here!”
Nami nodded once. “Unless you take back what you said about Robin trying to kill you, then she’s not safe within Water Seven!”
Lightning flashed outside the window and long moment later thunder crashed loudly. The rain pelting the glass grew stronger as well, filling the room with the sound of the growing storm.
“I will take back what I said, if you promise to let me speak to Nico Robin.” Iceberg said, making Kalifa’s eyes widened in shock along with Tilestone’s, Lulu’s, and Paulie’s mouths gaping in surprise.
Outside the room, both Kaku and Lucci narrowed their eyes at what Iceberg had just said. Without a word between them, Lucci suddenly blurred, vanishing from sight with barely a sound.
-Franky House-
“Who the hell are you two?!” Zombai demanded at the two men that had just entered their house through the wall of all things! If one looked closer, they’d notice that the wall had swung inward in the outline of the larger man, almost like a door.
The entire Franky Family were up in arms quickly, grabbing whatever weapons that they could reach.
Franky stepped forward with Mozu and Kiwi at his sides. “You’ve got some really bad manners to be breaking into my house!” He punched his fist into his opposite palm. “You can get out now, or we can throw you out, your choice!”
“Yeah!”
“You tell him, boss!”
“No one messes with the Franky Family!”
Kiwi and Mozu drew their swords and held them at the ready. “Leave already!” The sisters said in unison.
“Hehehe… Aren’t you all cocky?” The costume man of average stature mocked.
“We’re not here to play.” The larger man spoke, his voice deeper and oddly familiar to Franky. “Nico Robin, Cutty Flam, come quietly and we can avoid any unnecessary bloodshed.”
Robin narrowed her eyes at both costumed men, crossing her arms before her.
Franky nearly flinched at hearing his birth name for the first time in years. ‘Who the hell are these guys? How do they know my name?!’
“If you want a beating then you’ll get one!” Zombai yelled at the two men, brandishing his sword.
The shorter costumed man blurred and vanished to the eyes of most of the Franky Family. Robin’s eyes widened and vivid memories from Ohara and her life growing up flashed through her mind at seeing that movement.
“Gah!”
“Ack!”
“Agh!”
“Ough!”
Four of the Franky Family were struck faster than they could see. Blood flew through the air from their injuries as two of them slammed into the nearest wall while the other two hit the floor harshly.
“What the?!”
“How did he do that?!”
“Who cares! Get him!”
The Franky Family roared out a battle cry as they rushed the two men.
The larger man blurred and three of the Franky Family went flying through the air before slamming into the far wall. But the attack didn’t stop there, the man vanished again and appeared behind two more of the Franky Family members. Two strikes, one form each hand, sent the Franky Family members crashing into the floor with cries of pain.
“You bastard!” Another Franky Family member roared as he swung a huge hammer at the large costumed man.
“Tekkai.” The man uttered out, holding up his fist and letting the large hammer slam straight into it.
Crack
The head of the hammer shattered on one side while the wooden handle snapped from the force.
“What?!” The Franky Family member didn’t get an answer, only a blurring strike to his chest. He hacked out blood form his mouth before hitting the floor with a loud thud.
“CP9!” Robin exclaimed, having seen these techniques from the ones that had hunted her since the day Ohara had been wiped from the map.
“You punks!” Franky rushed the larger costumed man with his right fist cocked back. “Strong Hammer!” He threw the punch straight at the man’s masked face.
“Soru.” The mumbled word was the only thing Franky heard before the large man vanished from in front of him. “Rankyaku!” The man’s voice, louder now, came from behind Franky just before a powerful force hit him in the back and sent him flying forward with a sharp pain.
“Franky!” Kiwi and Mozu lunged forward, their swords swinging straight at the large costumed man’s back.
The man blurred and a powerful kick slammed into Mozu from the side. The force of the kick sent her crashing into Kiwi and both sisters went sprawling across the floor, their swords falling from their hands.
“You little!” Franky shot to his feet, uncaring of the blood dripping from the cut on his back. He spun around, his right fist rocketing straight at the masked man’s head. “Strong Hammer!”
The man held up his arm to block. “Tekkai.”
Fist met forearm with an almost metallic clang and the two extremities stalemated for a brief moment.
“Guh!” Then the costumed man was sent skidding backwards with his arm flung to the side. As soon as he stopped his backward momentum, the masked man put up his guard properly for the first time, though his left arm was slightly slower than his right after taking Franky’s punch. “How?”
Franky didn’t answer, his left hand swung off his wrist on a hinge to reveal a cannon barrel. “Weapons Left!”
BOOM
The cannon fired and the area the man had been in was covered in smoke and fire for a long moment.
“Did I get him?!” Franky yelled, only to not get any answer. Looking around, he noticed that almost all of the Franky Family was already laid out on the ground. “How?!”
“Rankyaku!” The other costumed man unleashed a roundhouse kick in front of the last remaining Kairiki Destroyer. A nearly invisible arc appeared from the path of the man’s kick and cut a clean line across the chest of the incredibly tall Kairiki Destroyer. Blood spurted from the large laceration and the huge man crashed to the floor as he lost consciousness.
“Beans Left!” Franky’s hand reattached to his wrist and then his forearm popped upwards to reveal four small gun barrels. The rapid fire automatic rounds raced straight towards the masked man.
The man disappeared again with a laugh that almost masked what he said. “Soru.” He blurred away, letting the rounds pass through empty air. “Rankyaku!” He reappeared to Franky’s right with his right leg in the air, already beginning his kick, while his left foot held his balance perfectly on the floor.
“Tres Fleur!” Robin called out and three copies of her arm bloomed into existence from the floor, grabbing the masked man’s left leg and holding it tightly.
“H-Hey!” The man cried out as his right leg slowed considerably since he couldn’t pivot his left leg. The force of his own kick started to torque his left knee that was trapped, but before the pain of that could register, Franky put his ‘Beans Left’ nearly point blank in the costumed man’s face.
Ratatatatatata
“Soru!” The man panicked and nearly tore his left leg out of Robin’s hold. Explosions rocked his cloaked body as he blurred away, only to reappear a short distance away with his cloak ragged, burnt, and his mask cracked.
“Axe Dial.” Robin had managed to predict where the CP9 agent would stop from his high-speed movement technique. Her right palm with the black fingerless glove on it nearly touched the man’s back.
“Tekkai!” The injured agent went stock still just as the Axe Dial cut into his back. “Grnnn!” He bit out in pain, blood running down his back from the slicing force that had hit him point blank.
Robin grimaced, able to tell that her Axe Dial hadn’t cut nearly as deeply as it should’ve. ‘Those strange techniques they use… What are they?’
“Soru.” The larger CP9 agent appeared next to Robin, he reached out to grab her, but Robin predicted his movement with her Observation and skipped backwards while throwing out both hands. The agent jerked back and tensed up. “Tekkai!”
Twin slashes hit his costume, shredding the cloth to pieces, but only just cut into his skin.
“Strong Right!” Franky’s fist came for the other side of the large open space of the Franky House and slammed into the side of the larger CP9 agent’s head, knocking him away from Robin and into the far wall. The chain retracted rapidly and reconnected Franky’s fist to his arm. “Got ya! You can’t move well when you use that weird technique, can you?” He smirked at figuring out one of the enemies weaknesses.
Robin was moving away from the two CP9 agents, skipping backwards to make space, but the shorter man came at her a vengeance. Robin managed to use her Observation to dodge the man’s attempts to punch and grab her over and over again, clearly frustrating her attacker.
“Damn it, sit still!” The agent growled before kicking his right leg straight upwards. “Rankyaku!”
Robin threw herself to the side, her Observation warning her of being cut nearly in two if she didn’t. The arc was more visible this time as it cut through the air and sliced the dais that held Franky’s large chair in two. “Axe Dial!” She threw her left palm forward, straight at the agent’s chest.
“Soru!” The masked man blurred away, slower than before do to his injuries. The cutting force sliced the air for a few meters before vanishing. “What the hell is that?!” He demanded as he reappeared a distance away from Robin.
“You don’t need to know.” Robin answered, managing to get some of her composure back now that she was fighting a member of CP9, the ones that had taken her mother and Ohara away from her as a little girl.
The larger masked man stood up from where he’d been knocked into the wall with a grunt. His mask fell apart and revealed his face to everyone.
“BLUENO?!” Franky yelled out in absolute shock that the bartender of the bar he frequented was attacking him as a CP9 agent. “What the hell is going on?!”
Blueno said nothing, only vanishing in a blur and reappearing a second before dropping a powerful axe kick on Franky.
“Star Shield!” Franky raised his left arm and his forearm stretched out into a circular shield beneath his skin.
Bam
The sound of Blueno’s heel slamming into the shield was a dull thud that clearly showed the power behind the kick. Franky’s knees bent to absorb the impact, but he clearly wasn’t hurt.
Franky threw his left arm up and out, knocking Blueno’s leg aside and opening his guard a bit. He inhaled deeply and then threw his head forward. “Fresh Fire!” A cloud of flames engulfed Blueno for a second before he blurred away again.
“Shigan!” Blueno was behind Franky, his right arm cocked back and his index finger fully extended. His arm blurred straight at Franky’s back, looking to disable his target then and there.
“Hngh!” Franky grunted out, having managed to turn just in time to raise his right arm and open his hand.
Thunk
Finger met metal palm and the finger held strong…for the most part. The metal dented slightly, and Blueno bit back a hiss of pain from his unsuccessful technique.
“Got you!” Franky’s large hand clamped down on Blueno’s entire hand with a crushing grip. “RAAAHHH!!!” He swung Blueno over his shoulder and slammed the other man into the floor so hard that the tiles and concrete shattered, cratering part of the floor.
“Tekkai…” Blueno said with a grunt, his back still aching from the powerful impact with the floor. He never imagined that Franky of all people could physically overpower him like this.
“Damn it!” The still masked CP9 agent cursed as he blurred towards Franky’s back, pulling out two pistols and aiming at Franky.
“Veinta Fleur!” Robin called out with her arms crossed in front of her chest. Twenty arms bloomed, ten from the floor to grab both of the man’s legs and stop him from moving, and ten more all over the agent’s body.
“What?!” The agent cried out in shock. The arms grabbed his arms and twisted them harshly, forcing him to drop his two pistols. Then the rest of the arms took hold of him in various places, one hand grabbing the back of his head, another taking hold of his chin. The ones holding his arms tightened their grip, and the final three grabbed his shoulders and his right hip. The ones entangling his legs all twisted in opposite directions in series all at once.
“Twist!” Robin curled her fingers inwards with a cold look on her face.
Crack
A series of sharp cracks rang out so close together that it sounded like a single loud noise. Every limb and the man’s back all twisted in opposite directions simultaneously in a gruesome scene of dislocation, muscle tearing, and bone-breaking.
“Ga…gack… Aaauuu…” The CP9 agent gurgled out as his eyes rolled back in his head from excruciating pain and he quickly went into shock from all of the injuries he’d sustained in a literal second. He collapsed to the ground like a ragdoll dropped by a bored child.
“Nero…” Blueno said under his breath. With a grunt he slammed a kick straight into Franky’s face from his prone position. The cyborg’s sunglasses shattered and he staggered backwards two steps.
Franky grunted and squared up in a boxing stance. “You bastard, you broke my favorite shades!” HE shot forward the instant that Blueno stood up, not giving the man he thought of as a friendly bartender a chance to use his weird speed technique. “Franky Boxing!” He started throwing a flurry of jabs, straights, hooks, and crosses…raining down a massive wave of attacks on Blueno.
“Tekkai…GOU!!!” Blueno used his strongest defensive technique as the first fist slammed into his chest.
“YAAAAHHHH!!!” Franky roared as he slammed punch after punch into Blueno’s body and face, not giving a damn that it didn’t seem to be doing as much damage as it should. He kept swinging harder and harder without letting up.
Blueno grunted as the punches hurt, even through his technique. His nose was bloodied, his lips were split, he had a blackeye, and he felt the bruises forming across his chest and stomach as well. The barrage would’ve been over had Franky been a normal man, but the cyborg just kept beating on Blueno more and more with no signs of stopping.
“Strong Right!” Franky yelled out as his right fist smashed into Blueno’s face again and then shot forward, carrying Blueno across Franky House and embedding him within the wall, spiderweb cracks spreading for almost a dozen meters in every direction. Franky couldn’t see through the thick cloud of dust that had been kicked up, but he reeled his right hand back in on the thick chain and reattached his hand to his arm again. “Serves you right… You bastard.” He breathed out heavily, his power supply starting to run low.
“Are you alright?” Robin asked as she approached Franky.
Franky was already checking on his subordinates. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I’ve had worse than this before.” Sure, it had been back before he’d become a cyborg (and what had led him to becoming a cyborg) but that wasn’t important. “Mozu, Kiwi, you two okay?”
“We’re alright.” Kiwi said as she slowly stood up with a pained hiss.
Mozu stood up with a hand from Franky. “We’re good, big bro.”
Zombai stood up shakily, gingerly touching his injuries. “Some of us are better off than others, boss. But I don’t think anyone is dead.” He let out a relieved breath as he was helping others to their feet and everyone was either beaten but okay, or would need a couple of days to get back on their feet. “What the hell was Blueno’s problem? Why’d he attack us like that? We’re regulars at his bar!”
“He’s CP9…undercover, most likely.” Robin said as she looked at the injured man still partially embedded in the far wall.
“Eh?!” The half of Franky Family that were still able to move under their own power cried out in shock. “No way!”
Chak
The massive front door of Franky House opening got everyone’s attention. Standing in the doorway was Rob Lucci in his usual top hat, but very unusual clothes that none of the Franky Family had ever seen the shipwright wearing before: a black suit with a black button-up undershirt and a white tie. Even his footwear was different than anything the Franky Family has ever seen the man wear. Instead of his usual work boots, Lucci was wearing leather dress shoes. The man looked almost entirely different than he usually did, aside from his trimmed and style goatee…something that everyone in all of Water Seven knew on sight.
“Lucci?” Franky looked at the man in confusion. “Why’re you here?”
“What’s with the suit?” Zombai asked, getting a laugh from some of the other Franky Family that weren’t too injured. “Got a hot date?”
Lucci said nothing, his expression cold and unreadable.
Robin’s eyes widened as her Observation screamed a warning of danger to her. “MOVE!!!” She yelled out to Franky.
It was too late though…
Lucci had vanished and reappeared with his palm grabbing Franky’s face. Before anyone could see what had happened, Franky’s head was cratering the floor. Lucci landed on Franky’s chest with both feet, driving the wind from the cyborg’s lungs despite his incredibly tough body. In the next instant, Lucci had vanished again, this time a kicked slammed into Zombai, knocking the man into the ruined dais with a loud crash. Mozu and Kiwi grabbed their swords and charged at Lucci along with five other members of the Franky Family in a rush from all directions.
“Get him!”
“He’s one of them!”
“Take him down!”
“Lucci!” Mozu shouted at the CP9 agent disguised as a shipwright.
“You bastard!” Kiwi yelled as she swung her blade towards Lucci.
“Soru.” Lucci said barley above a whisper as he vanished. He reappeared behind Kiwi and his hand blurred. “Shigan.”
Blood flew through the air.
“Gah!” Kiwi screamed in pain as she crashed to the ground.
“YOU!!!” Mozu roared at Lucci for hurting her sister.
She was silenced as Lucci’s foot slammed into her gut and sent her flying to crash to the floor and roll into the wall. Lucci glanced at the five men still charging him and blurred again. A kick slammed into one man’s jaw, a punch smashed into another man’s stomach, lifting him off his feet. The third man had the back of his head grabbed and was slammed face first into the floor. The fourth and fifth men didn’t even see Lucci as he blurred into existence behind them and both of his hands jabbed into their backs.
“Shigan.” Lucci mumbled as the two men coughed out spit and some blood before collapsing.
“Treinta Fleur!” Robin bloomed thirty of her arms into existence.
Lucci was gone by the time her limbs had bloomed, all of them now covering the floor.
Robin threw herself to the side, dodging a jab form Lucci’s finger. Her Observation was sharper than it had ever been before as she turned to face Lucci and got an intense impression of his leg lashing out into her side. She placed her palm in the path of the kick while skipping to the side away from the kick to lessen the impact. The kick connected with her palm and depressed the apex of the Axe Dial.
Lucci’s eyes narrowed as he vanished and reappeared a few meters away. He glanced at his leg, the lower pat of his pant leg hanging open from a clean cut straight across it and his leg bleeding from a significant cut. “What is that?” Lucci questioned Robin. He didn’t wait for an answer, not really caring as it didn’t pertain to his mission.
“Damn…” Robin cursed under her breath as she spun to look behind her as Lucci appeared at the same instant. She weaved the punch aimed for her stomach and focused all of the Armament Haki that she could into her right hand.
SMACK
Lucci’s head whipped around, his eyes wide in shock as blood flew from his cheek while an intense pain radiated from the entire left side of his head. Robin’s slap was stronger than almost anything Rob Lucci had ever experienced before outside of taking those cannonballs to his back when he’d been a young teen. He staggered a full step backwards from the power. His calm composure nearly broke as he whipped back around and punched Robin across the face.
“Gah!” Robin cried out in pain as she briefly flew through the air and then hit the floor painfully. Her face throbbed in pain, she could feel the bruise forming already and tears stung her eyes from reflex even more than pain.
“Let’s finish this.” Lucci said as he reared back his foot to kick Robin into unconsciousness.
“Beans Left!” Franky roared out and his explosive rounds nearly hit Lucci before the agent could vanish into another ‘Soru’. “Hah… Hah… Running a bit low now…” Franky’s blue hair was drooping noticeably now as he glared at Lucci. “So, Lucci, you were another liar, just like Blueno over there?” He pointed his thumb over at Blueno who was just starting to wake up. “Who else is a secret agent, huh? The other Galley-La foremen? The mailman? The ticket man at the Sea Train station?”
Lucci didn’t speak to Franky. “Blueno, get up, we’re leaving with the targets.”
Blueno pushed himself up and staggered a step before straightening up. He was still bruised and bleeding and was clearly favoring his right arm over his left, but he was already conscious whereas most people would be dead or out of commission for days if not weeks. “Right.”
“Veinta Fleur: Clutch!” Robin crossed her arms and her arms bloomed all over Blueno’s weakened body. ‘If I can take out another agent, then we might have a chance to buy more time until the others get back.’
Unfortunately, the instant that she took her focus off of Lucci, she ended up disrupting her Observation. And it was in that same instant that Lucci struck.
Whap
A sound that was loud in the quite Franky House, but would normally never be heard at all, rang out as Lucci hit Robin’s neck. The force compressed the blood vessels and her pressure point, cutting off the oxygen to Robin’s brain for a few seconds, nearly rendering her unconscious instantly. Robin collapsed to the floor and Lucci eyed Franky.
“Bring it on!” Franky roared as she charged straight at Lucci. ‘I promised Straw Hat that I’d protect his nakama! I’m not letting these bastards win!’
“Rankyaku!” Lucci’s right foot that was on the floor was straight above his head faster than most people could blink. A huge, nearly glowing arc of force screamed across the open space between the agent and Franky.
“GAAAHHH!!!” Franky cried out as the slashing force managed to cut through his reinforced chest a bit, sending blood flying. He was carried across the Franky House and into the reinforced stone wall near the front doors. The wall cracked in a wide span of large and small fractures as Franky crashed to the floor.
Lucci looked at Franky coldly before glancing at Blueno. “Grab him. I’ll retrieve Nico Robin.” He turned without waiting for a response and picked Robin’s limp body up. He didn’t seem to notice that Robin was no longer wearing her black fingerless gloves. Lucci looked over at Nero’s body and knew that the initiate to CP9 was dead already. Not many could survive having their neck snapped like Nero’s had been. “We’re leaving on the last Sea Train before Aqua Laguna hits.” He said without concern for the dead man.
“Right.” Blueno said simply as he hefted Franky over his shoulder and followed after Lucci.
Lucci and Blueno left out the front door of Franky House without a single look back. The interior had been destroyed, blood was splattered here and there, and bodies lay in various states of injury for the next person that came into the Franky House to find.
-Galley-La Headquarters-
“You’ll take back what you said about Robin trying to assassinate you as long as we let you meet her?” Vivi asked just to confirm what Iceberg had said.
“Yes.” Iceberg agreed, his gaze intense. “I wish to speak to Nico Robin. I will confirm the truth of your statements by that.”
“Sir, are you sure?” Paulie asked, still not trusting the Straw Hats after Iceberg had almost been killed.
Tilestone and Lulu both agreed with Paulie, looking at the Straw Hats suspiciously. “This sounds very risky, sir.” The two foremen said in almost perfect unison.
Iceberg looked at the foremen. “I’m not saying that you three should leave.” He assured them all. “You’ll stay here as my bodyguards.” He saw how all three men immediately straightened up more at his decision.
“Of course!” Lulu, Tilestone, and Paulie said strongly.
Kalifa adjusted her glasses and looked at Iceberg. “Mayor, shall I go and make your statement retracting your accusation of Nico Robin to the papers? I can have it written up between leaving this room and reaching the gathered reporters outside.”
“Oh my. Please do, Kalifa.” Iceberg said, always amazed by how quickly and thoroughly Kalifa took care of everything.
“Of course, sir.” Kalifa said with a half-bow before she headed out of the bedroom, closing the door behind her. She and Kaku shared a look and both of them left quickly, their forms blurring by the time they got to the end of the hallway.
Back in Iceberg’s bedroom, Lulu, Tilestone, and Paulie had taken up a three-point position around the bed.
Luffy, not caring in the slightest, looked at Iceberg with a smile. “Great! We’ll wait a bit before we go get Robin and then you’ll see that you were tricked!”
“Let’s hope that you’re right.” Iceberg said as he leaned back against his pillows and let out a slow exhale.
After almost an hour, however, Luffy had long lost his patience.
“What’re you doing, Straw Hat?” Paulie demanded, instantly at the ready to use his rope skills against the pirate as he saw the agitated look on Luffy’s face.
“Why haven’t we heard anything yet?” Luffy asked pointedly. “That secretary lady said she’d have it handled by the time she got outside, didn’t she?”
Lulu hummed thoughtfully. “It is a bit unusual for Kalifa to take long to do anything.”
“YOU DON’T THINK SOMETHING HAPPENED TO HER, DO YOU?!” Tilestone bellowed out, making most of the people in the room flinch at his loud voice.
“Maybe we should go check on Robin?” Sanji said, noticeably not having touched his cigarettes since they entered Iceberg’s room. “Something doesn’t seem right.”
Chopper looked at Sanji with wide eyes. “You don’t think someone found Robin, do you?!”
Luffy briefly closed his eyes and let his Observation encompass all of Water Seven. “WHAT?!” Luffy shouted as his eyes snapped open in shock. “Robin’s not on the island!” Before anyone could react, the window was nothing more than tiny fragments in the wind as a bolt of lightning traveled across the stormy sky above Water Seven.
Not even ten seconds later and the rest of the Straw Hats barreled out of the Galley-La Headquarters front doors and in a cloud of every shifting sands, they were flying across the island towards the Franky House, Vivi pushing her Devil Fruit harder than she ever had before out of sheer worry for her nakama.
-Franky House-
A crack of thunder rang out as Luffy appeared outside the odd-looking building.
“ROBIN!!!” Luffy yelled out as he rushed inside and saw the devastation. “ROBIN!!!” He looked around, checking every place within the Franky House for Robin, hoping that she was just unconscious somewhere.
“St-Straw…Hat…” Mozu spoke up as she tried to push herself off the floor with her uninjured arm. “We’re so sorry…”
Kiwi, still lying on the floor close to her sister, forced out her own words. “They showed up out of nowhere… They beat us all…and took Big Bro…and Robin…”
“What?!” Luffy was beside the ‘Square Sisters’ instantly. “Who took Robin?!”
Mozu coughed to clear her airway. “Blueno…and Lucci… They were CP9…”
“Robin…managed to…kill that one.” Kiwi breathed out with a vague motion of her head towards the body of Nero. “But then Lucci…showed up…”
“That pigeon guy?” Luffy only remembered Lucci’s name at all because of his cool ventriloquism trick with his pigeon. “He did this?!”
Luffy didn’t know who ‘Blueno’ was and so had skipped that information entirely.
“Lucci said…that they were leaving the island…on the last Sea Train.” Mozu breathed out with a pained groan. “There’s only…one place…they’d go…”
“Eines Lobby…” Kiwi said the most obvious island that secret government agents would take people they’d abducted.
Luffy’s entire body shook as he stood up, the brim of his hat shadowing his eyes. He stepped out of the Franky House and into the rain without a care as he looked out in the direction of the Sea Train station. Lightning arced off of Luffy’s body as his rage began to boil over. He threw his towards the sky and roared. “ROBIN!!!” A massive tower of lightning blasting into the sky and crashing with thunder loud enough to shake all of Water Seven as lightning bolts spread across the black clouds all across the sky.
That was the scene that the rest of the Straw Hats arrived to see.
It was a perfect herald to the bad news that they were about to receive.
Chopper was instantly bustling around the Franky House, trying to take care of all the injured. Meanwhile, those that could talk, began to explain what little they knew about the situation. Who Blueno was, how Lucci was a secret agent for the World Government, and that both Robin and Franky had been abducted and most likely taken to Enies Lobby, one of the three ‘Three Major Strongholds’ of the World Government and the Marines.
“The Judicial Island?” Zoro asked, never having heard of such an island. “So that’s where we need to go, right?” His right hand hadn’t left the hilt of Wado Ichimonji since they’d arrived at the Franky House; a clear sign of his agitation.
“We need to get there before they can take Robin beyond the ‘Gates of Justice’.” Vivi said, only knowing about such things because of being the princess of one of the most prominent royal families in all the world. “No criminal that passes through them has ever returned before.”
“Damn it, we just had to arrive on this island when a bunch of Cipher Pol agents were stationed here.” Mikita cursed as she clenched her fists, her usual playfulness nowhere to be seen.
“We need a ship! But this storm is only getting worse!” Usopp said as the crash of thunder was heard again. “We can’t take Merry in the condition she’s in right now.” He mentioned the nearly complete dismantled state that the Going Merry was in.
Luffy, standing out in the storm without a care, only had two thoughts going through his head. The first was to get Robin back immediately. The second was entirely focused on the one responsible for taking his lover from him. “PIGEON BASTARD!!!” He thundered as another titanic blast of lightning struck the stormy skies, mingling with the natural storm and dropping powerful lightning bolts in the seas all around Water Seven.
On the final Sea Train that had left from Water Seven, one loaded with Marines and Cipher Pol agents, the massive lightning bolts in the distance were still visible and more than a few of the men were freaked out by what they were seeing through the windows.

Lucci you Pigeon Bastard! You’re going to pay for this!
Nero was killed in the fight at the Franky House! That’s another change form Canon.
Franky beat down Blueno all on his own without taking too much damage! Just how much ‘inspiration’ did he take from those old blueprints that he was given?
But with the Going Merry dismantled, how will the Straw Hats get to Eines Lobby…or get away from Enies Lobby?
