Chapter 9 – Main Tournament

The crowd was filled with excitement as they stood around the low wall closest to the ring. A small cheer was let out when the blonde referee in the black suit and sunglasses emerged and held up a microphone. It was clear that the Tenka’ichi Budokai was about to start in earnest!

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience! We now commence the twenty-first Tenka’ichi Budokai!” The referee declared, his voice coming from every speaker in the area for all to hear.

Cheers and applause rose up from the audience, all of them eager to see the show of skill between the eight Martial Artists that had made it through the preliminaries.

“Our first match sees two female warriors pitted against each other!” The referee informed the audience, playing up their excitement. “It’s been a long while since we’ve had so many skilled women grace the Budokai! Will one of them claim the Title of ‘Strongest Under the Heavens’?! The first match is Bulma versus Kale!”

The cheers and applause of the crowd intensified even more.

“To open the Budokai, I’ll remind everyone that the champion of this tournament is awarded 500,000 Zeni in prize money!” The calls and cheers from the crowd became louder for a brief moment. All of the spectators agreed that the winner of the prestigious tournament should get such an amount for their victory. “But before the first match gets underway, let’s have a word rom the presiding monk of this Martial Arts temple.” The referee handed the microphone to an elderly basset hound beastman wearing the traditional orange robes of the temple. “Honorable Master, if you please…”

The elderly dog man gently took the mic and held it before him for a moment. “Woof!” The monk barked lowly before handing the mic back to the referee and walking off the ring to re-enter the temple proper.

The entire audience face-faulted all at once.

“Thank you very much!” The referee spoke into the mic, moving right along. “Now, let the games begin! Both contestants, please step forward!”

Bulma and Kale entered from the temple behind the ring, both looking at the cheering crowd. The difference being that Bulma easily dealt with the attention, while Kale looked towards the ground instead. When both girls were in the ring, the referee introduced them to the crowd.

“In the right corner, we have Kale, a powerful young lady that defeated all of her opponents in the preliminaries with speed and precision!” The referee pointed at the shy Saiyan girl. “In the left corner, we have Bulma, another skilled and powerful woman that defeated every opponent in the preliminaries with a single blow!”

“Let’s have fun, Kale.” Bulma smiled at the other Saiyan, hoping to dispel some of Kale’s visible nerves.

“Al-Alright… I’ll try.” Kale looked up at Bulma with a small smile.

Both girls took up their stances; Bulma’s being a bit more formal do to her training with Goku, who’d been taught by Son Gohan, a renowned Martial Arts Master. While Kale’s looked less formal, do to not having any formal training, it was clearly one that she’d come up with from experience in fights.

“Match number one, begin!” The referee opened the match, a gong being struck to formally open the Tenka’ichi Budokai.

Bulma moved first, nearly blurring forward with a jab to test Kale’s defenses. “Huh?” She blinked as Kale wasn’t in front of her anymore. A kick to her leading leg sent Bulma to the floor, before a kick nearly caught her in the stomach.

“Ah!” Kale was the one left confused this time as her kick to try and knock Bulma out of the ring missed.

“You’re fast, Kale!” Bulma narrowed her blue eyes at Kale, reanalyzing the other Saiyan. She’d barely been able to push off the floor and out of the path of Kale’s foot.

“I was hoping that would work…” Kale seemed a little down that Bulma had managed to dodge the last part of her combo.

Bulma moved in again, this time keeping her eyes on Kale closely. The bluenette circled around behind with a quick pivot of her feet and swung in with a roundhouse kick, but Kale dropped into a crouch to dodge without looking. With Bulma’s leg still outstretched from the kick, Kale grabbed it and slammed her elbow into Bulma’s stomach.

“Krk!” Bulma’s left arm throbbed in pain, but she’d managed to block. Using Kale’s hold on her leg, Bulma leapt into the air and brought a kick down on top of her opponent’s head.

Kale’s free arm took the blow, her knees bending to absorb the force, stalemating the two for a split second and loosening Kale’s grip in the process. The two separated and landed on opposite sides of the ring from each other.

“Incredible!” The referee cried out into the mic. “In what could only be called a blink of the eye, Bulma and Kale have apparently had a full exchange of blows!”

“You’re strong.” Kale looked at Bulma with a bit of a downcast expression. “I thought I’d be able to win, and maybe fight Sis for the title.”

“Don’t sell yourself short, Kale.” Bulma encouraged the other girl. In her head though, she was running through the two clashes with Kale. ‘It’s like she’s a completely different person for a split second when she’s actually fighting. But she barely seems to be planning her counters… Is it instinct?’ Kale’s moves were odd in their sheer precision compared to her seemingly timid personality.

“I’ll try.” Kale was the one to move in this time, nearly sliding into Bulma’s guard from behind and to the right. “Guh?!” Only to stagger backwards and cover her stomach with her hands. “What…?” She gasped out. Not having seen Bulma move.

“You have one too.” Bulma waved her brown-furred tail at Kale with a grin. “You can hit someone pretty hard with your tail, you know?” Like that, Bulma was on Kale, raining down blow after blow against the other Saiyan. She couldn’t let Kale’s counter instinct thing get a chance or she’d be put on the back foot again.

“Hgh! Grk! Awh!” Kale grit her teeth as she did her best to block and dodged around Bulma’s continuous attacks. Without thinking, she launched her knee forward, striking Bulma in the stomach and staggering the slightly older girl. With a break in the chain of attacks, Kale punched Bulma in the face, kicked out her left leg, and then shoulder tackled her to the floor.

“Ow!” Bulma cried out, feeling blood on her lip. She wasn’t going down though, spinning on her side, using the superior strength that she’d built up over her training with Master Roshi, Bulma swept Kale’s feet and took her down to the floor as well.

Kale lashed out with a punch, but Bulma caught it with a grimace. The second punch was also caught, and now Bulma could turn this into a battle of strength. Using her greater height and some leverage, Bulma leapt to her feet, still with both of Kale’s fists in her hands.

“Huh?!” Kale was confused by the sudden move, her arms now above her head as Bulma nearly dragged her towards the edge of the ring.

“Out you go! Bulma tossed Kale; the strength that let her move a massive, house-sized boulder made Kale’s body weight nothing in comparison.

“No!” Kale’s tail lashed out like a snake, wrapping around Bulma’s arm before she was tossed. The hold of the prehensile tail dragged Bulma forward from the unexpected weight. With a point of contact to give her some leverage, Kale spun and nailed Bulma with a punch straight to the face.

“Ahua!” Bulma’s exclamation of pain as she staggered backwards was loud. Kale landed at the very edge of the ring and quickly stood up, rushing Bulma as fast as she could.

“That’s the way, Kale!” Caulifla cheered loudly for her best friend. “Take her down!”

“You can do it, Bulma!” Goku called out to her, fully confident in her skills.

“They’re moving so fast we can barely see blurs!” The referee cried out, the audience in awe of the spectacle. The only time the two girls slowed down enough to see easily was when they took each other to the ground.

“Knock her block off, Bulma!” Launch cheered from the audience; her right fist raised in front of her.

Kale launched a flying kick at Bulma, aiming to knock the other girl clear out of the ring and end the match. Bulma didn’t seem to have recovered from the unexpected punch to the face yet; this kick would give her the win. Bulma shifted her footing and pivoted quickly, a blur of orange and blue seemingly left behind for a fraction of a second.

“What?!” Kale’s foot passed through where Bulma had just been.

“Hyah!” Bulma threw a double palm strike into the still airborne Kale’s back, increasing her opponent’s speed and sending her over the edge of the ring.

“Augh…” Kale hit the grass with a hacking cough as her back bent from the force of Bulma’s strike. She’d almost lost the air in her lungs from the unexpected blow.

“What the…?!” The referee blinked in shock before realizing what had happened. “Kale is out of the ring! What a match! The speed alone was mind-boggling! Contestant Bulma takes the win!”

The crowd roared for Bulma’s victory, none louder than Launch. “That was badass, girl!” The blonde cheered her head off, both fists raised high above her head.

“What was that dodge?!” Caulifla demanded in confusion. “She was there and then she slipped around Kale somehow!”

“I lost…” Kale looked at the grass beneath her, not even bothering to try and stand up. She just kneeled in the grass next to the ring despondently.

Bulma hopped down off the ring and placed her hand on Kale’s shoulder. “That was a great match, Kale!” The smile on the blue-haired Saiyan’s face was bright. “You’re fast and strong without any of the crazy training that I went through for months!”

“N-No! I just…” Kale shook her head, even as Bulma helped her to her feet. “I wasn’t good enough.”

“But you can get better.” Bulma told her, making Kale look at Bulma in shock. Black eyes met blue as Bulma smiled at Kale. “You did amazing! I could’ve lost easily! I can only imagine how good you’d get with training!”

“B-But I… You…” Kale wasn’t used to such positivity after losing.

Caulifla always told Kale that she was improving, and Kale never wanted to hurt Caulifla’s feelings. But she couldn’t ever bring herself to fight Caulifla with everything she had. Caulifla was so strong, both physically and mentally…and Kale wasn’t. She’d never been able to really work out her feelings, conflicting as they were. One side wanting to praise Caulifla’s strength, while the other side never wanted to harm her, even if Kale could win. This always led to her feeling down after losing to Caulifla, even as her ‘Sis’ did what she could to cheer Kale up.

“But nothing!” Bulma’s assertiveness showed as she led Kale back to the wall behind the ring where the temple room for the waiting fighters was. “You’re strong, Kale! We should totally spar again!”

“That was great, Bulma!” Goku hopped down from the wall that he’d been watching the match from. “You did good too, Kale!” He praised both of the girls with a bright smile.

“Damn right, she did!” Caulifla threw her arm around Kale’s shoulders. “Nearly knocked Bulma out of the ring if she hadn’t managed that weird dodge!” Kale blushed as Caulifla pulled her into a one-armed hug. “That’s my Kale!”

“S-Sis!” Kale was bad enough when it was just Caulifla praising her. But with Goku and Bulma adding onto the praise, the normally soft-spoken Saiyan couldn’t counter all of the positivity being sent her way. “Th-Thank you all…” She covered her face with her hands.

“We should spar after the tournament!” Goku looked at Kale with a hopeful grin. “Can we? Huh? Huh?”

“Get in line, Goku!” Caulifla looked at him nearly bouncing on his heels. “You still have a match with me first!” She reminded him of their fourth round match.

“I know!” Goku laughed, eager for that match too. “But this is for after the tournament!”

“M-Maybe…” Kale looked off to the side, her face still red, but a small smile was on her face too.

“Congratulations, Bulma!” Krillin smiled at his fellow disciple, holding out his fist and getting a fist bump from Bulma. “You four were so excited I thought I wasn’t going to get a word in edgewise.” He chuckled at the four of them.

“You’re up next, Krillin, do your best!” Goku encouraged his buddy with a big grin.

“Yeah…” Krillin glanced over towards Jackie Chun. “S-Something tells me I can’t underestimate that old guy.”

“That was quite the display of skill, young Bulma.” Jackie Chun nodded to Bulma as he made his way towards the ring.

“Oh…thank you, sir.” Bulma blinked at the unexpected praise. “I half expected him to be like Master Roshi…” She muttered, based on the superficial resemblance the two old men shared. “I guess not all old Martial Arts Masters can be dirty perverts.”

“After that amazing first match, we move on to our second round!” The referee declared, getting much applause from the crowd. “This time around we have a battle between Krillin, the youngest competitor to ever make it into the Tenka’ichi Budokai at only thirteen-years-old; and Jackie Chun, an elder with presumably decades of experience! Will wisdom or youth win the day?!”

Both Jackie Chun and Krillin stepped out onto the ring and took up their stances, facing each other and just waiting for the match to be started.

“And now, match number two, begin!” The referee declared, followed by the gong being struck.

“Haiyah!” Krillin blitzed his opponent, looking to delivered a powerful gut punch.

Jackie Chun backflipped out of the way, but the second his feet touched the ground he was forced to deal with a barrage of kicks from Krillin. The old man weaved and parried multiple kicks and punches, his footwork keeping him one step ahead of Krillin’s rush of attacks.

“Hyah!” Krillin’s fist connected solidly with Jackie Chun’s palm, locking the two in a brief stalemate.

“Using your youthful vigor against an older opponent, well-reasoned.” Jackie Chun acknowledged Krillin’s strategy. “Not bad, you’re actually making me work for it.” The two pushed away from each other and retook their stances. “Let’s try… Hyo!”

“Augh!” Krillin nearly squawked as he was punched in the face. His body bounced off the ring floor once before stopping as he hit the wall separating the ring from the temple. “Th-That punch…” Krillin held his face, feeling blood on his skin. “I…didn’t…even see it…!” He looked at Jackie Chun in a mix of shock and disbelief.

“What the fuck?!” Launch gaped at what she hadn’t just seen. “He just went flying!”

“What’s up with that old guy?!” Caulifla demanded, watching the match from atop the wall along with Kale.

“That punch was too fast…” Bulma blinked, not having seen the strike being thrown, much less when it connected.

“No… That didn’t happen…” Krillin looked at his hand, seeing the blood on it. “I didn’t even see that punch coming… How?”

“What are you talking about? I saw it coming!” Goku spoke to Krillin, looking over the wall right above where Krillin had impacted it. “Just look real close! You’ll see it too!”

“Really?” Krillin looked skeptical for a second as he stood up.

“Krillin is back on his feet! But did anyone see what happened there?!” The referee questioned the crowd as a whole.

Thanks to the wall I didn’t go out of bounds. But if I get hit by one more of those…I’m in trouble.’ Krillin thought to himself as he retook his stance across from Jackie Chun.

“Oh? Won’t give up, eh?” Jackie Chun asked, still in the same stance as before. “This time I won’t take it so easy on you!”

Look reeeal close…’ Krillin focused intensely on Jackie Chun’s movements.

“Hya!” Jackie Chun’s punch came again, still at blinding speed, towards Krillin’s face.

“I see it!” Krillin reacted this time, blocking the blow with an audible sound of flesh meeting flesh.

“Huh?” The referee had no idea what to say to the unseen exchange as Jackie Chun and Krillin both touched down on the ring floor. Most everyone watching were trying to figure out what had just happened.

“Hmm… Very impressive!” Jackie Chun smirked, praising Krillin’s ability to counter the attack.

“Ya see? I told ya!” Goku cheered for his friend.

“Yup!” Krillin beamed at Goku for believing in him.

The sounds of confusion from the audience prompted the referee to say something. “L-Ladies and gentlemen… Something…just happened, although we’re not sure yet what it was!”

“It’s been a long time since anyone’s kept up with my speed.” Jackie Chun told Krillin, adjusting his stance as he set himself up for a different tactic.

“Well, I’m the one to do it!” Krillin readied himself for another exchange. “For I was personally trained by the ‘Invincible Old Master’, Muten Roshi!”

“Hyo!” Jackie Chun moved.

“Hya!” Krillin countered.

Krak

Suddenly both of them were on opposite sides of the ring from where they’d started. Leaving the audience dumbfounded, just staring at another exchange that they hadn’t seen.

“I saw it a bit that time!” Bulma had been focusing as much as possible to try and keep up. “It was mostly a blur…but Krillin got kicked, right?” She looked over at Goku.

“Aww, man…!” Goku facepalmed at how the clash had gone. He nodded to Bulma as Krillin collapsed face first onto the ring floor.

“H-He’s down! Krillin has been knocked down!” The referee finally declared as everyone was at least able to see this part. “I’ll begin the count! One… Two…”

“Krillin! Get up!” Goku called out loudly.

“Come on! You can do it!” Bulma hollered to him encouragingly.

“Three… Four… Five…” The count continued.

“Hnngh… Augh…” Krillin pushed himself up from his prone position with some difficulty.

“Six… Seven…” The time for Krillin to retake his feet was quickly vanishing.

“Krillin!” Bulma and Goku both cheered him on.

“Rrrnnnggg!” Krillin hopped back up onto his feet… And then immediately grabbed the back of his head. “Owww!”

“He’s up! He’s back on his feet!” The referee yelled out, making he crowd cheer and applaud loudly.

“About time, cue ball!” Launch gave her own brand of support from the crowd.

“Yeah! Go get him, Krillin!” Goku threw his fist into the air with a laugh.

“Don’t let that guy beat you!” Bulma cheered him on.

Well, well, well… Able to get up after a blow like that, eh? Maybe you did take your training seriously, after all…’ Jackie Chun smiled at seeing Krillin’s tenacity.

“Um… Excuse me?” The referee got close to the two fighters. “I really hate to interrupt in the middle of your match, but…” He vaguely gestured to the watching crowd. “We don’t have the faintest idea of what happened in your last exchange… Could you fill us in?” He requested politely.

“Well…if it’s for television…” Jackie Chun agreed. “But I’m only doing this once, so pay attention this time.” He retook the stance he had at the beginning of the previous exchange. “First, I started off like this… Hyo!” He moved towards Krillin at a slow walk. “Which Krillin countered like so…”

“Hya!” Krillin quickly got into the reenactment of the previous clash as he matched the speed that Jackie Chun was moving at.

“Got it, got it.” The referee nodded as the crowd followed along.

“Then I went to kick him…” Jackie Chun threw a very slow side kick. “Hurry boy, hurry…” He urged Krillin to make his move.

Krillin ducked under the slow kick. “But I dodged the kick like this…” He then righted himself and aimed a punch at Jackie Chun. “Then I threw a punch like so…” His face looked unamused. “But…”

“Ptoo!” Jackie Chun acted like he was spitting at the punch.

“…He spit on my fist, so I pulled back in disgust.” Krillin grimaced at the tactic.

“In that opening, I tried a left jab, but…” Jackie made the next move, aiming a punch towards Krillin’s face.

Krillin snorted at the incoming fist and Jackie pulled it away.

“…He snorted boogers at me, so I pulled back.” Jackie pulled away from Krillin. “Then I decided to change tactics.” He made a thinking pose. “Krillin also pondered strategy.”

“Hmm.” Krillin took up his own thinking pose. “Everything up to this point took about 0.2 seconds, I’d say.” He gave the onlookers some context of time during the unseen exchange.

“And that’s when I decided on my plan.” Jackie Chun stated, miming a face of insightfulness. “Always a good fall back…” He held up his fist towards Krillin. “Let’s roshambo!”

“Sure, why not?!” Krillin replied to the challenge. “I blurted that out, which was a mistake…”

“Ro…”

“Sham…”

“Bo!”

The two threw their hands forward, Jackie Chun with ‘scissors’ and Krillin with ‘paper’, making the old man the winner.

“Hey, look over… There!” Jackie Chun pointed to his left, as the game was played.

“Nope!” Krillin did the opposite, looking towards his own left. “This is where I outsmarted myself and got caught up in his strategy.” He informed the crowd.

“Wahahaha! You fool! You left yourself wide open!” Jackie Chun reenacted his words from before.

“Huh?!” Krillin did the same.

“In that fateful instant, I leapt…” Jackie Chun narrated the next move. “Hey, lift me up for a sec, will ya?” He looked at the referee, who was just as caught up in the reenactment as the rest of the audience.

“Huh? Oh! The jump scene, right?” The referee blinked behind his sunglasses before picking Jackie Chun up carefully. It was harder than it looked since he had to leave the old man’s legs free to perform his moves.

“I leapt, just like so…” He then lightly tapped the back of Krillin’s head with his foot. “…And back kicked like such…” He looked at the referee. “Okay, now carry me wa-ay forward. Get ready for a slick finish.”

“I’ll try…” The referee carried the old man forward for a distance. “You landed…right about…here?” He set Jackie Chun down, the old man taking up the pose he’d had earlier.

“And there I was, coolness personified!” Jackie Chun stated as he held his position.

“Hey! I could use some help too!” Krillin called out to the referee, still holding his position from when Jacki had kicked him, even standing on one leg to maintain his pose.

The referee hustled over to Krillin to help finish the reenactment.

“So, I took the kick and went flying…” Krillin narrated as the referee picked him up and carried him forward.

“L-Like this?” The referee asked, wanting to make sure that he got it right. It was at least easier to move the much shorter Krillin around than Jackie Chun.

“Right about her, I did a flip…” Krillin stated when they reached the right distance.

“Flip…? Got it…” The referee flipped him forward and then set Krillin down where the boy had landed.

“Even hurtling through the air I regained my balance and landed on my feet.” Krillin explained to the stunned crowd. “But the damage was done, and I fell to the floor with a splat.” He pointed at the tiles in front of him.

“You expect me to believe that all happened in a fraction of a second?!” The referee looked at Krillin and Jackie Chun in shock.

Both Martial Artists nodded in unison, completely serious about their description of their previous exchange.

“UNBELIEVABLE!!!” The referee cheered into the mic. “That’s absolutely incredible! The Tenka’ichi Budokai has been elevated to a new level! Oh, thank you both!”

The thunderous applause and roar of the crowd made it clear what the audience thought of the exchange.

“Any time!” Krillin and Jackie Chun put their hands on their hips and nodded to the cheering fans with smiles.

“So, what are you waiting for?! Let’s go!” The referee restarted the match with another cheer.

Krillin and Jackie Chun leapt away from each other and retook their stances.

In basic strength and ability, Jackie Chun’s way out of my league… If I try to match him blow for blow, I’ll be clobbered.’ Krillin thought to himself, stealthily reaching into his gi top. ‘Luckily I’m ready for this sort of situation…’ He grabbed hold of what he had stashed away. “Take that!” He threw the item on the ground just in front of Jackie Chun.

“Huh?!” Jackie Chun looked at what Krillin had thrown on the ground.

It was a pair of simple blue panties with a little bow on the front.

“Panties?!” Jackie Chun reached for them with a grin on his face.

“You fell for it!” Krillin landed a powerful skipping side kick that launched the old man straight out of the ring and over the heads of the audience at speed!

“KRILLIN!!!” Bulma roared at her fellow disciple in rage. “When did you steal those?! I’ll kill you! You little perv!” She could recognize her own underwear easily!

“I won!” Krillin cried out in joy (currently ignoring the death threats and murderous aura that Bulma was emitting).

-Outside the Temple-

“Ack! I can’t believe I fell for that trick!” Jackie Chun admonished himself. The ground was coming up fast and he needed to think of a way to stop.

-Ring-

“Well, it’s a pathetic, humiliating way to lose…but a loss it is!” The referee adjusted his sunglasses with a flat expression. “Once he lands, that’s the end of it!”

-Outside the Temple-

“I can’t lose like this!” Jackie grimaced as he thought up a way to get back to the ring. “But how do I keep from touching the ground?” Not having much choice, he decided on what he’d do. “Only one chance…” He cupped his hand together at his side. “Ka… Me… Ha… Me… HAAAAA!!!” A blue orb of power formed between his palms and he blasted it towards the ground. The force shot him backwards at speed, much to the shocked looks from the residents of the city surrounding the temple.

“Huh?!” Krillin gaped at seeing Jackie Chun fly back over the wall of the temple grounds.

“Eeehhh?!” Goku was equally stunned at seeing the technique.

“Isn’t that…?!” Bulma pointed at the blue-white beam of power. Of course she recognized that particular technique!

The Kamehameha ended and Jackie Chun backflipped to kill his moment a bit and landed easily in the ring. “At your service.” He bowed like he’d just performed an amusing trick to entertain the crowd.

“What the hell was that?!” Caulifla called out, looking between Jackie Chun and the three Kame School disciples.

Kale blinked at what she’d just seen in confused shock. “What…? How?” She and Caulifla had never even heard of the rumored techniques of Ki before. There were no Martial Artists in the rural farming village they’d grown up in, after all.

“W-Wh-What?! H-Ho-How c-could y-you…?” Krillin wasn’t able to properly ask the question he wanted answers to.

“That was a Kamehameha!” Goku shouted out, snapping some of the stunned audience out of their shock. “I’m right, right? Kamehameha?” He looked at Jackie Chun for confirmation.

“If you insist.” Jackie Chun shrugged to the Saiyan.

“K-Kamehameha?” The referee nearly stumbled over the first part of the name. He was very well-versed in the rumors of secret techniques of the notable legends within the Martial Arts world.

“Kame…Kame…Kame… You’ve gotta be kidding!” Krillin could only look at Jackie Chun in abject disbelief.

“CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!” The referee hollered into his mic, his excitement erupting like a volcano. “For the first time ever, we have witnessed the Kamehameha with our own eyes! They say the only person in the world capable of that move is the ‘Invincible Old Master’ Muten Roshi! But here, today, we have discovered another!” The crowd roared and cheered, thunderous applause filling the air at witnessing a legendary Martial Arts technique firsthand. “In all my years of watching tournaments, I’ve NEVER seen the Kamehameha! And never dreamed that I would! But thanks to this amazing stranger…!”

Jackie Chun chuckled under his breath at the praise being heaped on him.

“Who is this Jackie Chun?! Is there no end to his surprises?! What astounding feat of Martial Arts will he unveil for us next?!” The referee’s excitement was getting so high that the man was liable to pass out. “Oh, how do we deserve to be blessed by his presence?!”

“I’ll be signing autographs later. Ladies first.” Jackie laughed lightly at how energetic the crowd was after seeing the Kamehameha.

“H-How do you know the Kamehameha?!” Krillin finally managed to ask, pointing at Jackie Chun in both disbelief and accusation.

“Ho ho ho… Boy, do you know how old the ‘Invincible Old Master’ is? Do you know how old I am?” Jackie Chun looked at Krillin with a firm gaze. “Do you think that no one he’s fought with in the past has managed to figure out his technique after enough time to practice?”

Krillin really couldn’t say anything against that. It wasn’t unheard of in the Martial Arts world for techniques to be learned from observation and then a lot of trial and error. Even a legendary technique could feasibly be learned if one spent years, or even decades, on it.

“Now…” Jackie took on a different stance, both of his arms held up, his fingers extended, while he sank into a horse stance. “I’d hate to wear myself out before the big finale, so let’s just end this round here.”

“G-Goku! Wh-What should I do?!” Krillin looked towards his friend for advice.

“What do ya think?! Win!” Goku told him with an encouraging fist pump.

“Win?!” Krillin grumbled at the lack of helpful advice. “There’s nothing left but an all out attack!” He blitzed forward at top speed, vanishing to the eyes of the spectators again.

“Tsk tsk… Become desperate and you play into your opponent’s hands.” Jackie Chun leapt into the air at the last second and Krillin charged straight into the pillar that framed one side of the entryway next to the ring.

The stone and masonry shattered under the force of Krillin’s charge and nearly buried the Kame School disciple. “Owww…” Krillin held his head as he stumbled out of the small dust cloud.

“Excellent! Too bad your opponent isn’t the wall! Ho ho!” Jackie laughed at the missed attack.

“Why you!” Krillin charged at Jackie Chun again, but stopped short when he noticed the old man seemed a little blurry around the edges. “Huh? Isn’t that…?”

“Krillin! Behind you!” Goku yelled out a warning.

“Move!” Bulma shouted as well.

Behind Krillin, Jackie Chun had reappeared. A powerful dual chop to the short boy’s neck and his body spasmed.

“Ugh…agh…uuuhh…” Krillin staggered a step forward and collapsed to the floor face first.

“Groovy.” Jackie Chun gave a peace sign before putting his hands behind his back and heading back towards the temple’s waiting area for the fighters.

“Krillin is down! One… Two... Three… Four…” The referee began the count.

“Save your breath. He won’t be up for a while.” Jackie Chun mentioned as the count continued.

“Seven… Eight… Nine… Ten!” The referee finished the count and a second later Jackie Chun stepped off the ring and followed the path back into the temple. “Krillin is out! The victory goes to Jackie Chun!”

“No…Krillin…” Goku sighed at seeing his friend be defeated.

Bulma shook her head as well. “He lost… Who is that old guy?”

“He circled around, but left an after image?” Kale tried to explain what she’d just witnessed to Caulifla.

“What kind of speed is that?” Caulifla blinked at what would be required to pull off a move like that. “Do you think we could figure it out?”

“I… I don’t know, Sis.” Kale truly wasn’t sure if they could or not. “But I think we might be able to do it.” For all of her timidness, Kale was still a Saiyan, and the entire species excelled at kinesthetic learning to a ridiculous degree. Even after only seeing it once, her mind was already working out the technique, slowly but surely.

“I’ll give it a try.” Caulifla smirked and punched her fist into her palm.

Truly, there was no faster way for a Saiyan to learn, than in combat.

Bulma beats Kale through better training and a ring out!

Kale feels down about it, before being praised by Bulma and then dragged over to Caulifla and Goku for even more praise and encouragement! The cute Saiyan won’t be able to be down on herself with the other three around!

Goku even asked her to spar after the tournament! That’s like a playdate for Saiyans, right? Kek!

Krillin vs Jackie Chun played out mostly the same, because it has very little reason to change. But the former-monk is in for a beating once Bulma remembers that he stole her panties! lol

Next match is Nam versus Ranfan! That should probably have the same victor at the very least, right?

Then comes Goku versus Caulifla! How will a match between the two Saiyans that love to fight and grow stronger the most play out?!

Giving Caulifla and Kale time to see techniques and work them out doesn’t bode well for their opponents, that’s for sure.

Bulma is the same way, plus has her genius intellect on top of that!

How will that affect her match against Jackie Chun?

Keep reading to find out!

lol Bulma wouldn't even NEED to fight if she feels like being a bit daring. If she truly wants to win against Roshi/Jackie all she'd need to do is take off her top and he'd be to distracted to do anything as she KO's him

hey, i was wondering if you are going to include elements of DBGT? such as SS 4 but maybe calling it someting diferent. Bulma could probably work it out.

Kairomaru

You'll see how I handle Super Saiyan in the future, once we get to that part! I have changed it up just a bit.
