So, lets start with the worst case scenario. That man's death was completely intentional, and this is all part of Aurelia's scheme. The question is, why does killing him benifit Aurelia? Having this happen just makes Lucian suspicious of her. She seemingly is only trying to help him. That's why she's so eager to offer her theory on the emperor's death. Her wanting to keep the guy prisoner until Lucian can question him seemingly supports that. Killing the guy is completely counterproductive, from this perspective. It could be about information. Aurelia might not have wanted her location to be leaked by this guy upon his release. But getting the guy killed would only help so much, because his disappearance still exposes the fact that shady stuff is going on in this cabin. Here's what I think the most likely explanation is: what if murder wasn't the means of achieving some goal, but the goal itself? Aurelia has plenty of experience with demonic rituals. She has no way to contact the demons, and presumably no access to demonic energy. But demonic rituals sound like the sort of thing that can be fueled by human sacrifices. It's a little far fetched, but what if Aurelia had carved ritual symbols beneath the floor? It would have been unreasonable of her to do so in the perfect place and just in case of a perfect scenario like this, but I wouldn't be surprised if she has the capability. I also don't know exactly what ritual she would make, or how she got the guy to attack her. If this is what happened, I also imagine that blood isn't enough, because otherwise, she could have just used her own, without needing to have someone die. Lucian even gave her healing magic. Another thing is, if Aurelia killed this guy, it would be her first time killing another person for nothing but her own benifit, and would almost definitely decrease her holy affinity. I don't know how her holy affinity, cursed child status, and divine beast form all work together, seeing as she still retained her strength in game despite her heinous deeds, but this would completely go against her plan of raising her holy affinity to gain freedom. She would only kill this guy if she was sure she could get something worthwhile from it. Maybe cold-blooded murder doesn't count against the holy affinity, if you make the victim attack you first, and have someone else do the killing? How could Aurelia know that, though? Anyway, if anyone else has any explanations for how killing this guy could possibly benifit her, feel free to share them.

I think your idea of some sort of ritual holds weight, if not carved, then drawn on a page in one of the books or newspapers. Blood alone could be enough - hers may be affected by the holy tattoo. Alternatively, it could require a mix - a couple drops of hers as well as the sacrifice

Oh nice, one of my questions got answered, about the other eye thing “I had a plan,” Lucian said, wrestling free. “Have a little faith.” I see what you did there
