At this point Lucian isn't dense, he's just too deep in denial. Still, I see the ship is making progress. Also damn, the High Priest's life must suck. He's locked in a house in the middle of a lake with no one speaking to him ever and the only letters he ever gets just quote scripture. Free that poor guy.

Pot, see kettle. Don’t think the MC can stay a dick forever, though: the original player has been shown to be anything but perfect, and his circumstances as Lucian weren’t exactly inspiring an uptick in the holy affinity, but at this point even Aurelia has shown more character development.

It kind of sounds like there is one major vulnerability in the palace. Unless the entire lake is contained within the palace, the lake is open to the sky. Which means you can air drop in. Lucian would need a way to fly (preferably while invisible, and at night), and to also fall down as fast and silently as possible, without dying on impact. And even that might alert the guards. I still think the high priest is some immortal in hiding. And how much control can he actually have over the organization, if he's so secluded?

My bet: The guy is actually not even there, but is actually one of the inner circle able to sent him letters. No better shield than not being known as who you are. Furthermore, a small house in a lake with enough security that the world leaves you alone sounds pretty nice to me.

Unspeakably angry at Lucian at the same time god damn if this still isn’t annoying as shit as a set up. Also….why go with Algard if they could get to the party? Shouldn’t they have been able to ask someone to introduce them to the cardinal? Maybe that wouldn’t have worked but damn if this doesn’t just feel weird and contrived I guess that is Aurelia’s whole schtick

That's a good point. They mainly want a favor for the organization to help in distribution, but the High Priest clearly doesn't do the day to day operations.
