I'm in my early 20's and I will say that I don't think making wildly inappropriate jokes when you're a teenager is a generational thing as much as it's ignorance or just doing something for shock value. That being said I don't know what the gen alpha climate is like so maybe gen z was at the end of the dark ages.

as someone who has worked with a lot of gen alpha kids, the edgy teen years seem to be universal. they’re even bringing back the R-word. kids just love pushing boundaries unfortunately
