"The Avatar must walk alone." My rational brain, who knows canon: I know why you'd say that, that's rough, buddy :( My silly brain, who ignores canon: Y'all needed better friends! Jokes aside, yeah, there are some changes here that I've come to enjoy too. I love that Yue is more of a free spirit (hehe) here who does what her heart wants and that Hahn isn't a comedic moron XD The part about Aang learning to do things his own way reminds me of the original ATLA where Aang got advice from past lives about something but decided to ignore them all. I'm intrigued to see how they'll take the whole "taking advice from past avatars" thing going forward. (Keeping it vague in case anyone here hasn't watched it.)
