I can’t get it to load :(

Does it say "Generating preview..."? If so, that's because it takes some time after it's uploaded before it can play in the browser. Downloading it would work depending on your internet speeds!

I can't believe you didn't make a "Good news, everyone!" joke during the opening number. 😂 Ok, now let me watch the rest of the reaction.

Regarding Defying Gravity, not only does it come from Wicked, but we can thank it for Frozen's Let It Go. Obviously Wicked is where Idina Menzel first rose to fame (in Broadway at least), but also you can clearly see how Let It Go follows a very similar template to Defying Gravity both musically and thematically. By the way, did you at any point realize or find out that Dillamond is voiced by Peter Dinklage?

I love this movie <3 at the cinema I felt like getting up and clapping a few times <3 BTW, have you seen the musical Six? If not then I highly recommend the songs from this muscial. Unfortunately, you won't watch the whole thing in good quality, but there are great animations for the official playlist. I think you would like it! Muscial tells the story of Henry VIII's Six Wives, who tell how hard their royal lives were - in amazing songs. I leave a link to the animation of the first song, if you like it, then I can toss the whole playlist :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w111r8DvpeA

Is it bad, that while I totally get Galinda is not supposed to be the best person, I still kind of ship her and Elphie? It’s the whole enemies to friends trope

Hannah Gs

I don't know a single person that does not ship them haha I ship them so hard

Some fun facts! all of the sets are practical, they even planted thousands of tulips for the outdoor shots! They also sang live on set, while doing stunts! In the end when Cynthia is singing defying gravity, she is doing that live while being flung around on wires! I think everyone did a FANTASTIC job in the film especially our two leading ladies! And yes, the crystal shoes are the ruby slippers, in the l frank Baume series they were originally either crystal or silver, but they made them red to really pop in the Wizard of Oz movie (the invention of technicolor and all that). Some Cameos: you recognized the original Broadway actresses, but the woman that says "he must be a wizard" during that song is the person that wrote the stage play and co-wrote this movie, and the man who said "the wizard will see you now" wrote the songs! Also, I ship them so much. If it was a guy and a girl, people would see it for the blatant enemies to lovers trope that it is haha Glinda and elphaba even kiss...several times in the wicked book!

I saw this when I was in High School it was so amazing even my mom that hates musical loved it haha. Wicked and The Heathers are my top fav musicals

Natasha G

I’m also so glad you talked about the wheelchair thing. Sadly the actress had been bullied by the fans. Very upset about that

CupcakeHorror

Also holy shit its the guy who plays Spongebob. haha he's so goofy

You should absolutely watch the original "Wizard of Oz" before seeing part 2 of "Wicked". I think it would be very informative and a great companion piece to this movie and the next one.

she’s also a really nuanced character despite how over the top she is and I think that helps. She is so clearly conflicted in the end and I think it comes down to her growing up in a society that loved her while Elphaba experienced the opposite. She couldn’t bring herself to rebel in quite the same way because the world had always treated her so well.

I have been waiting on somebody reacting to this. I ha e the the theatre show twice. And I want to say so much but I don't want to give any spoilers for people that havnt seen it or read the book. Needless to say I absolutely loved this film. The 2 leads are fabulous.

Hannah Gs

I definitely second this!! Just because I think it still holds up pretty well too. And I highly recommend Kaz Rowe's youtube video about the VERY insane production of the wizard of oz!
