Gunnery (Gunny) Sergeant Roberta (Bobbie) Draper. Going to become a major character...and a fan favorite. The man who had the "final say" on shooting at the Martians was U.N Secretary General Esteban Sorrento-Gillis (i.e., the big boss).

MCRN Martian Congressional Republic Navy One of the things with Bobbie, is that she is resentful of Earth and the Arms race. They touch on it more in the books that because of this Arms race, the Terraforming program has been pushed back, with resources put into the military rather than the project. Plus if you remember Lopez, Martians have this idea that earthers are all lazy 'takers', one can assume Bobbie has similar views. Esteban Sorrento-Gillis, he's the General Secretary of the UN, elected head of Earth's government. Errinright is his deputy, elected as well. Avarsala is basically 3rd in charge basically the top bureacrat. Not elected and behind the scenes etc. The props guys went to extra effort with the lasagne trying to make it look Futuristic and Martian, they finally settled on a Brownie/Cake tray that is designed to give all crust. Its those little bits of effort and detail that make the universe so rich and real. :)

They cast Bobbie Draper really well. The actress who plays her, Frankie Adams, is a professional boxer as well.

To sum up for Miller, he has lost his job, his ex wife and team leader Octavia, his home, all his "stuff", Julie and now his best friend Simi. And yet still pulls it together to bond with the crew after the fight with Amos. Thomas Jane is one amazing actor!!
