Love the movie poll idea! I've never seen Children of Paradise or Hidden Fortress - might have to watch those. Thank you for your great reactions to this series! Always appreciate your insight!

I think that the bite may have been important in El's loss of power. It was the title of a full episode, and we never saw El use her powers after she took the creature out of her leg. I don't know. Billy: I think he was redeemed, but didn't get a chance to atone and be absolved. He reversed course, so he's on the right path. But yes, no chance for atoning actions. I don't think he could have been saved, though. The minute they're flayed, the Flayed are walking dead--they're drinking chemicals to turn themeslves into mush on the inside. I think he'd likely have fallen apart when they closed the gate anyway. There's values dissonance in Hop--they were going for a specific character type (Indiana Jones, Dirty Harry, Magnum PI, etc), which was very popular at the time but has become less so since. There are people going nuts about "Oh, Suzie cost Hopper his life!" No. I don't think Grigori knew where to look for them until Hop shot up the control center (hence, "I found the Americans" not "Yup, they showed up"). But also, the duet was a moment of wild and crazy joy--the sort of thing that Hop was talking about in his letter. You have to take joy where you can. Also, if you're going to have four Broadway kids in the cast (Dustin: Les Mis, Lucas: Lion King, Max: Annie, Suzie: Matilda), get them to sing! It's sad that the kids are splitting up. But it looked like Melvald's was about to crash and burn, and most of downtown already had. The mall is burned down. Joyce has to work somewhere... that's why so many small towns are drying up off the map. The movie was "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." Starring (in the cut-out) one Phoebe Cates... the one Dustin kept saying Suzie was hotter than. (Which is adorable, since she's a basic little nerd-girl in actuality, but it's clear that Dustin TOTALLY believes it.) I thought they were going to do something with Billy's dad, too. I'm wondering if he's part of the endgame. They've said too much--and El's "I hate you" look was too pronounced--to let the thread unravel. (And yes, that's the actual theme from "Neverending Story.")

Thanks for your thoughts on this episode :) Love Dustin and Suzie's dynamic and I hope we get to see more of it in the coming season!
