Amos' worldview, He knows he's flawed, and that is why he latches on to moral people as a guide star to make up for the deficient in his own character. Think back to 1x4 where they think they are about to die, and he is thanking Naomi for helping him, and that she's a 'Good Person'

I really admire Mars' vision in the abstract, terraforming Mars is an absolutely massive project. Some futurist speculation I've read has come to the conclusion that building O'neill Cylinders or other super high tech synthetic space habitats would be more cost effective than creating an atmosphere from scratch. That said, I feel like their culture is probably pretty shitty. You mentioned the drive to make lots of babies, which is part of it, but the fascistic push into military service coupled with how it seems the culture was built by the Elon Musks and Jeff Bezoses of the world makes me think it wouldn't necessarily be a super great place to live unless you can afford all the toys.

Great points. Compulsory military service would feel horrible especially since I don't trust any governing body to decide what to do with their troops.
