Deaths in the Amazon blast were 2 billion, not million. You've probably heard that official trailer for S4 was released earlier this week. While it's definitely worth watching, DO NOT WATCH till you've finished S3.

They didnt mention the rain forests so who knows if they still exist in the future. The maps have changed so Amazonia is probably the name of a UN state. I don't think Errinwright would intentionally sabotage the rail gun launch system and sacrifice Earthers. His whole thing is about protecting Earth from Mars and he couldnt predict the outcome that only one nuke would land. Those missiles were MIRVs that contained many guided nukes and it could have been much much worse.
